[arr] the rising: simple but catchy tunes

Rasiya I am addicted to this one from the first hearing. The

somehow reminds me of some sort of garba-type stuff... I cannot
describe. Nice use of strings The song is pretty confusing and

dont know what I feel while listening, neither happy nor depressed.

I havent heard The Rising yet. I will go and get my copy today and its only been 2 or 3 days since its released so im sure more than half or atleast half of the listeners on this group or worldwide would not have had a chance to get the album yet - now with the weekend yes ! a lot more albums will be bought. The other half who have already had a chance to listen to the album, I'm sure have not savoured it enough and 2 days is too less a time to give a verdict on the semantics of the album. But what disappoints me - and this is a trend im seeing over the last few years is that the listeners keep harping and harping and flooding mails with queries about the next release and when it does happen, a whole flood of emails with ridiculous topics start to bombard your inbox. Sample this "how would harris have done the rising?" "how would a r r have done anniyan?" "the rising is not good" "hes lost it, he produces shit tracks".while im not denying anyone the right to criticise, all im saying is why wont you guys give it time ? An artiste like Michael Cretu (Enigma) releases an album every 4 yearsto a layman most of his tracks might sound alike but if you give it time, you start realising the finer aspects and after years you still keep rediscovering something new - just like a r r's songs..Im sure most of the group has not even been done with Bose - there are just too many finer aspects in that album and 2 days is all it takes to 'complete' the last rites of 1857 and look forward to AAh AAh... The funniest part is when he does commercial tracks, people want him to focus on something different and now when he does something different, they want AAh AAh commercial tracks !! Give me a break folks !! Lastly, if all of you as just listeners know so much about music - as claimed and can give a verdict on the songs, arrangments, singers, lyrics etc, surely a r r with all his knowledge and genius and experience would know better. You think he would have worked day and night sitting at his console (siping Redbull !!!) to produce what you call 'CRAP' ?? You need to ponder.. Hii Good to hear that someone's pointing out informing abt the ragas. Yes, Rasiya is a blend of Shivranjani Mahuvanti, Main vaari vaari is based on Mishra Kaafi or Peelu, Al Maddath Maula is Keervani with Shivranjani. Lots of complex stuff here. I just cant stop listening to Rasiya...great composition awesome vocals by Richa. After a long time, we hear something so beautifuuly composed. The arrangements, rhythm, percussions r a blend of Arabic Indian classical. The start itself is so captivating energetic...full of passion. It has been a long time since an arr album has crossed a million mark in bollywood. Formerly He hardly used to compose one album and that would fetch him a flimfare award or a national award, on the contrary the year 2004 if not a score brought about a half dozen albums and none of them making a mark in the chartbusters but almost everyone of them got critical acclaim. Films are made for the masses and so is the music and if its not been appreciated by one and all its useless, its okay if everyone's taste differs but the definition of good music in the sense of bollywood is that it should be mesmerizing and arr has badly failed in this department for the last 4 or 5 years, He has produced some of the greatest composition that may satisfy his soul and his fans(including me) but he is not connecting with the masses which he previously used to do (Rangeela, hum se hai muqabla, dil se, taal and many otheres) and that is going to badly hurt him coz in bollywood if you are unable to generate the mullah nobody is going to care for you and your price will automatically come down. Albums like Swades, The Rising, Akbar-Jodha are never going to be hit unless the films become hit which is almost impossible because of their low mass appeal. for the current time arr badly needs another chaiyya chaiyaa to return back to the bollywood and this could only be possible if he returns back to commercial movie. Hi all, Mind-blowing songs. Thats the right word. Long time since he has composed this type of songs. I have completed three times of hearing (Im listening to it now also while Im typing). At first u will like holi song(like the Ghanan song- Lagaan: in that it was rain in this holi thats the difference) then u will tempted by our boss song a religous piece like the one in Bose then its mai vari vari. All songs have got totally different moods which our boss havent worked with (eg:holi song, mai vari vari song). It will be only getting into you very slowly after repeated hearings as its a periodic film its not like lagan. The songs are purely situational. Only with visuals the songs beauty could be magnificent. He has reused so many loops beats (eg: the Nayak Sayyan song, Saathiya Songs(arrsadhna songs, 1947 Earth Song, Daud beat, Kaadalar Dinam-Dandiya song etc etc.). In the singing section all has done their part well especially our boss. The song is so tough that our boss could only do justice to it. For recording its 10/10. All in all a beautiful album. when i was chattin with my friend yesterday about rahman's music, we discussed something about how the directors influence rahman's music. if u look rahman teamin with maniratnam or shankar, the output was really tremendous. TREMENDOUS ENOUGH PEOPLE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, WONDERED WHETHER THESE KIND OF COMPOSITIONS WERE POSSIBLE. Almost all of mani's as well as shankar's movies with rahman was real contender for winning him national awards not to forget few other directors like ashutosh n others with whom rahman had a good chemistry. Rehman's 3-D effect concert at Bangalore Bangalore, July 16: A R Rehman's music has always been a treat to the ears but this time it is going to go beyond it--it is going to have a 3-D effect. Come October eigth and music connoisseurs in Bangalore will be in for a musical surprise, with the country's top music composer, Rehman set to electrify the stage with a live musical concert, all packaged with specialised 3-D effects. The Bangalore `3rd dimensional Live Concert', which is part of the world tour launched by the music wizard, would have some parts of the performance with a three-D effect; where the audience could experience a literally live experience, wearing specialised glasses to view the show, Deepak Gattani, CMD of Rapport, a global event company, told reporters here today. It is very cumbersome to create huge sets while travelling from place to place during a world tour. The visual aspect has to be really large to have that effect. Hence, we decided to capture the hugeness and largeness of the visual side by having a three-D effect, he said. It is the first time that something like this is being attempted on the global scale. Though people like Peter Gabriels have attempted something like this it was in a confined environment, this is going to be bigger, he said. It is going to be the application of 3-D live during a musical concert. It is going to have an effect of a virtual reality with some forceful visual effects, he said. Even though all the parts of the concert would not be three-D friendly...some could be watched with the naked eye like any other concert, he said. The concert, to be held at Palace Grounds, will be Rehman's first live performance in Karnataka. Thirty per cent of the numbers in the show would be new. We will also have artiste Alma from Bosnia and Ani from Armenia, both singing for the musical `Lord of the Rings', Rehman told reporters here today. Presented by India Classic Arts, the concert would have a troupe of 80 professionals, including renowned artistes like Hariharan, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Chitra, Sukhwinder Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, Madhushree, Kailash Kher and Sadhana Sargam. Tickets for the concert would be made available from August, the organisers of the show in the city, said. Bangalore will be the only city in India to be part of Rehman's world tour.The other venues where the music composer would perform are London, Birmingham, Sydney and Melbourne, Colombo, Dhaka, Toronto and multiple locations in the US. You guys are too much carried away from the syndrome called Blind Work ship. Music is a language of hearts and when different people try an attempts to speak up that language it connects well with some people and it fails to rise to connect well with others. Raja sir is always a king, he don't have to do a Lagaan, Bombay, Roja or.to prove what he is all about. He is a class. On other Hand Rahman Sir don't have to prove himself by composing thiruvasagam or any of the legendary compositions made by Raja sir. 3-D effect in Bangalore, courtesy Rahmans show The Times of India Bangalore: His musical genius creates waves from Birmingham to Baroda, Broadway to Bangalore. But Allah Rakha Rahman is remarkably un-flamboyant. Those trademark black suits and (now) toned-down locks belie the glorious music he creates, the music that springs wild and free to capture peoples hearts and souls. The same musical strain brings him to Bangalores Palace Grounds on October 8. And the Silicon Capital is the only Indian city to feature on his Third-Dimension (3-D) World Tour which encompasses London and Birmingham (United Kingdom), Sydney and Melbourne (Australia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Toronto (Canada) and various locations in the United States. Rahman is no stranger to Bangalore. It is one of my favourite cities. From Andrew Lloyd-Webbers Bombay Dreams, to scoring music for the yet-to-be-released Lord of the Rings, Rahmans music is slowly but surely becoming more international. At a media interaction to publicise his October concert in Bangalore, Rahman, said the Bombay Dreams experience had helped immensely. In fact, reviews of the latest London musical The Far Pavillions (adaptation of M.M. Kayes book of the same name) have said that Rahman would have done better music for the show. At the moment, he is working on Lord of the Rings, due to open in London, Toronto and New York in 2006. I came here 20 years ago to work with Vijay Anand and Dwarakesh on three-four films as a music arranger, he told reporters here on Friday. His new concert, will, as the name implies, feature 3-D innovations the audience will wear 3-D glasses to experience special effects. Some parts of the crowd, however, will not be 3-D friendly, said managing director of Rapport Global Events, Deepak Gattani. The normally taciturn Rahman did open up slightly when reporters asked him questions, but kept his answers short, sweet and witty. Why does he keep reinventing himself ? Otherwise, youll complain I dish out the same thing, he shot back. Concerts must evolve. If we are bored, wont the audiences be, he asked. How does he score music for different films? Each film is different. For a period film like Mangal Pandey, we explored the ancient roots of folk music, he explained. That led to a query on Rahmans love for flawed voices. In Mangal Pandey, Kailash Kher sings Mangal, Mangal. His voice is extraordinarily soulful, so I let him sing it that way, he explained. So, is making music for Tamil different, from, say, Hindi? What works in one may not work in another. It depends on the directors sensibilities, he outlined. The Bangalore event, organised by India Classic Arts (ICA), in aid of Namma Mane (a home for women), features singers including Sadhna Sargam, Hariharan, Daler Mehndi, Alka Yagnik, Chitra, Sonu Nigam, Shanker Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh, Madhushree, Blaaze, Kailash Kher, Alma from Bosnia and Ani from Armenia. Rahman to rock city in October Deepa Ganesh The Hindu The concert will be the music composer's first in Bangalore BANGALORE: If the Indian sound has found an appeal in the global music market, the credit should go to the phenomenon called A.R. Rahman. Mr. Rahman didn't just revolutionise film music with his all new, young and peppy feel, but he also brought back to its fold a new set of audience; the older crowd which had given up listening to film songs even as they desperately clung on to vintage songs and the younger crowd which refused to have anything to do with film music, old or new. That he rendered the prayerful Vande Mataram with a macho, confrontational image to suit a country that had now gained nuclear might is another story. The gifted composer was in Bangalore on Saturday as part of the promotional tour for his 3D Live concert, scheduled in the city for October 8 at Palace Grounds. The concert, to be presented by the New Jersey-based India Classic Arts (ICA), will entail an ensemble of 80 professionals, comprising singers, dancers and a full-fledged orchestra. This concert, Rahman's first in Bangalore, will have two new singers, one from Bosnia and the other from Armenia. The proceeds will go to a charitable project, Namma Mane. Answering queries at a packed press conference, Rahman said he shares a special bonding with Bangalore. He was reminded of his days as a struggling, young musical arranger working with the one-time Kannada film star Dwarkish. Tickets will be made available for the concert from August end. Dear All , YES !!! i really hated it . the first time i heard the song of "the Rising " , i felt very much disappointed . I said to myself " How cud he ?? " BUT THEN , yes , the music of the movie started growing on me on repeated hearing . Now , the music keeps on playing in my mind . its gr8 songs . I liked "me wari me wari " mujra very much Then the muslimsong "maula " was really special . Rasiya had a special emotion wrapped around it . TAKKe TAkke .. this was a surprise . first i felt, wat a bad song ! but on repeated hearing , that sound of that kids is so lovely and special . Never heard like that in any song b4 . Mangal mangal ... is inspiring . Great words too . It will bemorepopular after the movie release . Holi song is average . but sure will catch up later . Overall , album is good . Not extrordinary . enjoyable . It will go well after the movies release . Perceptions bound to shift to a higher level . But one thing i learned from this ... We need to gauge our expectations based more on the director . We cant expect a mani like or subash ghai like track from a film by Ketan Mehta . To be frank ,I am not toooconfident abt the director's musical sense and ability . His movie"Oh Darling ! yeh hai india " clears shows that . This shah rukh starrer sank with out a trace. It had good music butall situational songs , some thing like amusical dialogues .Direction was not upto the mark . I have a complaint that YASH RAJ music company is not yet all promoting THE RISING like they did for BUNTY AUR BUBLY .it needs a lot of patience and time to spot a promo of the THE RISING . Is it planned so ? i doubt the intentions . The best factor abt the movie will be AAMIR KHAN AR Rahman . ExtremE professionalism and sheer taste of Aamir the soundtrack of the movie by our dear BOSSis theUSP of the movie . I completely agree its high time that our Boss gives a pure commercial film in Hindi.two threepure Item songs on the lines of "dhoom machale " or "dus bahane " which has got nothing to do with the story and can be fitted any where as per wish . A party song is quite wanted frm ARR topush away the detractors . Lately , he is into all classics which has brought abt world class compositions . But all these gr8 music is failing to reach the mass audience . over all "THE RISING "ALBUM IS REALLY WORTH IT . NOW, I CANT HATE IT ... I LUV IT ITS SIMPLY SUPERB . ** thanx for reading .
