hi friends, sorry that i am writing this mail very late! 6 months before, the marathi daily KESARI celebrated its 125 years of service, so they invited ashitosh gowarikar to the show in pune in TILAK SMARAK MANDIR. the main topic was swades!! eventually they asked him about rehman and here are the words what he said, "i am a big fan of him. during lagaan i approached him only because of aamir but then i started knowing him. for rehman, you go on providing as much information of the movie and he goes on delivering the EK SE BADHAKAR EK tunes. but it is your responsibility to give him full idea of the movie, you have to extract his tallent which is hidden. he gives a thought for two to three days and lits up a candle near his keaboard at 5 early in the morning. whatever is played on keaboard is the tune you needed" then ashitosh gowarikar sang YE TARA WOH TARA beautifully!!! one incident he told was "ghanan ghanan song was complete but we were searching for the start of the song. everybody suggested us the different starts for the song. i asked rehman and he said, ' wait ashu, only one day!!!' then he came up with the start 'ghanan ghanan ghanan ghanan' to have a feeling of rain. and we also felt that clouds are gathered up in the sky." after the show, people gathered around him. i could not meet him personally buti shouted "sir, continue your relationship with rehman" then he replied( i couldnt believe he replied me) "it is there, till i vl b making films" i felt proud. i wanted to share these moments to all you my arr-fan friends!!! sorry for the delay!! Story of the Bharata dynasty and set in 3,000 B.C., text is the second-longest poem in history and is sacred to Hindus. Bedi plans to film it as three feature movies and over 100 hours of TV programming that will be delivered by the end of 2007. It will also lend itself to video and mobile games content. Budget is pegged at $30 million-$35 million, with a third expected to be raised from Indian sources. Bedi, who last produced The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey, is seeking the backing of those Hollywood studios that have existing broadcast interests as well as film ambitions in India. Production will be on a mammoth scale and require some deft political negotiations. As an incentive to attract regional backing, Bedi expects to build a massive permanent stage that will be donated to whichever local state becomes home to the production. While Kaleidoscope is understood to be amassing a cast of Indian superstars -- according to local Indian reports, that includes thesps Khan, Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan and helmer Mani Ratnam -- Bedi is focusing on production design features. First level is the use of Indian designers and facilitators, Bedi said. We have a huge advantage as nobody really knows what these people looked like, so we can invent a lot to suit our own needs. Weaponry is currently being developed by a world top-five games company with a view to creating a digital asset that we can use in other media. Bedi says that project will have a film-sequel-prequel chronology similar to The Godfather, with further backstory and flashbacks destined for TV. With a budget that is unprecedented in India, production is expected to use sophisticated financial techniques including bank loans and completion bonding. Dear Friends Further to my frustration on music companies not releasing audio in time, much specific to WATER, I solved the problem for myself. I logged on to the musicindiaonline website, to listen to the songs (they are still available for listening if anyone is interested ) and while listening, I made a copy in MP3 for myself. ( Take a recording cable and loop it from speaker to mike, Simple ! ) I will keep the songs such copied with me till the original CD is available. The day the original CD is available, I will be deleting the songs in my collection. I am not on the right side, but with the present situation on delays and taking the music lovers on a royal ride by the music companies, what can one do ? Hope to get the original WATER soon ! Imtiaz, I would recommend you buy the DVD called Salaam Bombay - Making of Bombay Dreams from the production company's website http://www.reallyuseful.com/rug/films/salaam/index.htm .. which has clips of ARR making music inside his Chennai Studio and in London... before viewing those clips I have always known him to be shy and silent.. but these clips will show him enjoying his own music with a laugh... I today went to buy the We can make it better CD (from a HMV store in London) for which ARR has made the String arrangements... according to HMV the CD was released on the 28th October, 2005 but it never made it to HMV... they say there must be a problem with the distributor... umm, according to http://www.donasian.org website the CD is available with HMV, Virgin and with all good Asian music stores... well HMV didn't get the CD's at all.. [arr] The Rising CD is Out
I was pleasantly surprised to find The Rising DVD in Abu Dhabi. Its a dual language (hind/eng) 2-Disc set with subtitles in English and Arabic. So I assume this is a middle-east edition. Disc 2 has the following: - The Making off (that's how it is spelt!) - Deleted scenes - Premiere Footage - Musical launch - TV Promos - Mahurat The packaging is excellent. But I was a bit dissappointed with the picture quality. It appears squashed from the sides too! And the audio is dolby 5.1. Whatever happened to DTS? Even Kannathil Muthamittal is DTS. [arr] [Semi-ARR] Query for Swaps, Vijay and others - regarding ragas
Since I do not have any knowledge of ragas, I need some help from members that do. It is always hard to pick out the best Rahman track ever. If you had to pick one Rahman song that is the best song ever, it would be very difficult. But if I had to pick a non-Rahman song from all the trillion Hindi songs I know, I would pick two songs: 1-The best RD Burman songs ever: Song: Beeti na beetaye raina Film: Parichay (1972) Composer: RD Burman and 2-The best Jaidev song ever: Song: Abhi na jao chodkar Film: Hum Dono (1961) Composer: Jaidev I could exchange all the non-Rahman Hindi songs till date for just these two songs. These are some amazing, evergreen songs. I'm sure all the Hindi listeners would agree. I would just like to know what ragas these are in and if Rahman has composed songs in these ragas. I hope I'm not asking for too much. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
