So we can upload the profile of A R Rahman and related links and we can promote our group too.You can explore them out and find it for yourself. Hi Guys, Here is an article on We Can Make it better album.. It's out now.. I think it would be better if we bought the album.. Afterall it's for our kith and kin.. --- On Sunday 26 th December 2004, we as a nation witnessed the Tsunami Disaster, the tragedy experienced by hundreds and thousands of people, the loss of loved ones young and old, and, the horrifying news reports about whole generations being wiped out. The images were heart wrenching and overwhelming and full of despair as families searched for their loved ones. To date it has been confirmed that approximately 300,000 people are feared dead or missing. After watching the news on Boxing Day 2004 of the Asia Tsunami Disaster, Internalmusic, Realtone Records, and, Streetlife Productions have united together in the form of 'Donasian'. Bal of Realtone Records called Mukhtar Sahota and Saj (Internalmusic), and Bindi Sandhu and Baljit Deo (Streetlife Productions), and suggested that something needs to be done for the survivors. Mukhtar decided to produce a track featuring a number of artists to raise money for the victims of this horrific disaster, like that of a similar approach as the 'Band Aid' single but, with an 'Asian' flavour. Saj of Internalmusic had the role of managing the project and made contact with singers, writers, and engineers, from all over the world and co-ordinated them together for the making of this single. Bindi and Baljit of Streetlife Productions have been actively involved in this project, the making of the documentary, and the music video to accompany the single. The documentary started in January 2005 and has been documenting all the moves through this project, from interviews with the artists, recording sessions and behind the scenes for the video. The documentary will be aired on a mainstream TV channel in the very near future. On Saturday 8 th October 2005, we were again faced with another natural disaster, the South Asian Earthquake in Pakistan and its neighbouring countries. Again thousands of lives were lost and millions were made homeless. Donasian then decided that we would contribute 50% of the monies raised from the record sales to the survivors, as we were preparing a release date for the single whilst the disaster struck. At the time of both disasters people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds around the world stood united and felt the loss and tragedy of the surviving victims. It is suggested that it will take approximately 10 years to rebuild a number of South Asia and Southeast Asian countries affected by both the Tsunami and the Earthquake. The single is called 'Donasian', and features 3 languages, English, Punjabi, and, Hindi. The Song is called 'We can make it better - Tsunami Lehar' The music for the single is Produced by 'Mukhtar Sahota' and the string arrangements by 'A R Rahman'. The song features 15 Asian artists from different music genres from Eastern and Western continents.The ArtistsShaan Jaspinder Narula Sukhwinder Singh Hans Raj Hans Am'nico UK Apache Palvinder Dhami Channi Singh Djinn Mistri E=MC Sumeet Shahin Badar Surinder Sandhu (Sarangi) Shahbaz Khan (Tabla) L yricsChaman Lal Chaman (Punjabi and Hindi) Am'nico (English) Rap (the Rap Artists themselves) All the artists involved have shown 100% commitment towards this project. The project will make artists aware of their awesome powers to work in 'unity' and to create a positive outcome. The line up represents the very best of contemporary talent and this recording will be a "history in the making." Donasian will not recoup any costs from this project. All artists have appeared on this project free of any costs. All monies raised from this single will be donated to the charities 'Save the Children India', and, 'Islamic Relief', excluding the 'Distribution' and 'Retail' costs which apply. We need to continue to help and assist in the recovery and rebuild process by focusing on Habitat for Humanity, by helping families and individuals construct both short-term and long-term shelter for many of the million's of people currently displaced from their homes, businesses and the basic luxuries in life that we take for granted. We must carry on making a difference to these unfortunate people. By uniting together 'we can make it better'. Finally, it doesn't matter whether some people like the tune or the lyrics, the lyrics have sense and meaning of their own, do not confuse the two. Most of the people affected by these disasters in Asia may never get to hear the song and most of them probably don't speak English, Hindi or Punjabi. It was recorded for us to hear, and if it inspires a few people to buy the single, to help others less fortunate - be it in Asia or anywhere else - then all this has been worth the effort. Hi Fanz, Thanks to all those replies. I was in some doubt whether he was targeting the fusion, western, and the semi-classical kind of music, which was pop-ularized by Rahman in a big way...and then later followed up by others thus leaving classical music far behind. There 'were' times like that... Now, after reading these posts, it is clear that he was referring mostly to songs like Manmada Raasa and some other stuff which neither had logic nor lyrical quality. Rahman is way different...Even for a movie like Ah...Aah, he comes up with scores which appeal to both the classes and masses to some extent. Thats why he is loved and liked to some extent even by some of the hardcore IR fanz (as far as I know). One more thing in that show: YSR sung a song composed by IR along with Karthik. He literally destroyed the song to such extent that IR joked about it: Hey, Why are you singing it as if it was YOUR song?? Also, Vaali seems to have run out of ideas when praising someone. It was almost repetitive and the message was like the same he once said about ARR earlier in Chennai concert... Thanks again for the wonderful comments...It certainly helped..! Hi all, plzz do not skip ths mail by it's sheer length and weird subject line becoz there is some serious stuff.. first of all thanks to the members of this group who always gives us more than we demand in the form of info.,songs,bgms,pics, etc..etc.. and the list goes on..i think this is the most happening forum among all the forums existing in this world..and as someone mentioned yes.. we r just like a family with immense bonding.. well as a part of this family i think that we must have the objective of propagating our boss's music as much as possible..i think there r still large sections of people who r still deprived of this maestro's work.. as for me i can say that i only listened to rahman's compositions in hindi..but now i really enjoy the compositions he has done in tamil..they r awesome and timeless classics..vellai pookal,narumagaye from iruvar,kangalal kaidhi sei, the english composition in the film kisna, mettupodu from duet, classical touch in sangamam ,of course the recent gem Water(unreleased music) i thnk the list goes on..i feel these compositions are rare gems but did not reach to the public as much as it should have been.. as for a person like me believe me i do not know tamil at all...but i really enjoy his tamil compositions as much as i enjoy his hindi ones.. Why not we come up with say an autobiography type of collection of the rare gems assorted year wise from 1992 till date.each cd pack can have say 10-12 songs with an equal balance of hindi, tamil and also to some extent english..there will be translation and some interesting snippet's of rahman's life..well i guess tht is more of a packaging thing..the main idea is to promote his music mainly the tamil songs which ppl from other regions are totally unaware of..and i am sure they will enjoy his music even in tamil language... guys, i thnk we can seriously work on this idea and given the huge capabilities of ppl in this family i am sure we can come out with something really exciting.. hey guys wht say??i thnk it can only be possible if we work as a team...just chip in with ur valuable inputs... take care and enjoy the maestro's work.. may god bless him and every member of this family.. bye, anujit Yahoo! Hi all, It is really true To my knowlwdge the 3 path breakers of tamil cinema are MSV,IR,ARR. the three have done great in their lifetime and they complemnt each other very well IR will not criticise ARR cos he respects him so much that during the release of his Thiruvasagam he praised abt ARR... and moreover ARR has worked with IR will a teacher/trainer /whatsoever curse his/her disciple. i dont think so... It is not them who talk ill but it is the reciever(us/media)who annotate meanings. As good music listeners and follower of the music of ARR lets respect others musc also and appreciate other also... Moreover IR has mentioned the current pr... music trend of tamil music whic is nothing just trash effortless gaana's ment for item numbers except few good contibutions from other md's like HJ and YSR and Vidhyasagar it is nothing to do with arr who took immense pain in uplifting Tamil music to world standards imagine he had incorporated today's style of world music few 8 years back in thiruda thiruda etc... This is reply to ram's views of IR, classical music, saint-composers etc.I read the message by raam. To my experience what he says is right to some extent. First of all this started becoz of IR's open commentsquoting as pop-corn all. I am born in bombay and did my schoolingin bombay. My college days in chennai now working in bangalore. Ialso learnt some vocal classical hindustani to pt.jasraj in my schooldays say 4 years and discontinued unfortunately. Hindustani music isnot gaining in north itself too much as what it was once and what itshould be now becoz of over dominating of bollywood music other private albums, mtv-craze etc. Most of the youngsters who learnhindustani was aiming to become a play back singer or entering lightmusic etc. in a short period and do not want to pursue in thisclassical music at all for its heaviness. if it is so how the classical music in north would survive better. In chennai a presstook a nation wide voting about their taste of music years back where50% were for film music, light music, 35% for carnatic, 10% forhindustani 5% for folk. But in chennai so many youngsters are deep in learning carnatic atlest for some years half of them aiming forclassical concerts. Here in film music, voices are not that muchattractive except for few. But creativity, skills, varieties are lot.But in north voices are excellent but creativity/variety lacks. Themore and more one learns the basic classical music the more they cangive varieties. Otherwise music will be repetitive, monotonous dry.We can have hits only rare. Even ARR has mentioned teasingly with a smile for a question asked to him as what he would say aboutbollywood music. he referred as bollywood has enough of punjabi musicwhich means where are their own creativity when they have this richhindustani? And dapaangoothu is not at all good music. True music lovers wont relish this music. Why cant one make even the poor peopleto identify good music and rahman is one such person. why should yougive the poor people unworthy music according to you. For example, to say when poor people can enjoy 50 rupees worth of music why should they be branded to listen only 10 rupees worth of music. Make good music also toreach poor show this is music.
