The 79th Academy Awards or the Oscar Awards are getting underway. Nominations for original song category for full length feature films are announced. There are fifty six songs from films belonging to different languages and country. These songs have been considered for the prestigious award. Out of these, our own Rahman's three songs are featuring in the list. They are 'Khalbali' and 'Luka Chuppi' from Rang de Basanti and 'Chan Chan' from Water. When contacted to inquire about the news, A.R.Rahman expressed happiness over the nomination and said that it was the collective effort and hard work of RDB team that is paying off rich dividends. I also thank my fans for all their wishes, added the maestro. He has his fingers crossed on the outcome. Inside sources say that the audio launch of the film is most likely to be held in March 2007. Director Shankar is calling the shots and doesn't want any kind of leads to be leaked out much before the release of the movie. I met my relative Sadhana Ghanekar ( Sadhana Sargam for you ) yesterday night in one of our family wedding. She had come straight from USA after completing concerts with Amit Kumar ( Son of Kishore Kumar ). She sang the Wedding shlokas LIVE in the wedding in her soft and beautiful voice. Since I met her after a long long time I enquired her about her current and future assignments. She told me that she is quite busy with playback singing and also concerts from time to time. I also had a brief chat with her over AR Rahman. She mentioned to me that she had told Rahman that there is a dedicated group of RAHMAN fans (fan club ) in Pune and he was quite amused with that news. I plan to invite Sadhana for the RAHMANIA shows which are planned in Pune during February 2007. Hope, she attends the same as I know, she is very busy. Her latest song in Tamil was from Godfather. I congratulated her for the lovely songs of WATER and for getting nominated ( indirectly ) for Oscars for the song Aayo ri sakhi. She is still a humble, soft, gentle and well behaved girl inspite of so much fame / talent and recognition. are you sure, this works? because, when i hit 'backspace', the ru ba ru comes
already selected. i dont think the votes get counted...after every 7-8 votes,
the percentage should increase, but after casting more than 10 votes , there
was no change in the status. and yes, we dont have to wait 2-3 hours. i guess
after 45 mins or 1 hr, we can vote again and with the help of my colleagues we
are casting almost 50 votes per day.

Hi Umesh other Malaysians. 1st of all Stadium Shah Alam is at Selangor la not KL. hehelol. anyway 4 ur request on the CD of Rahman anna's show at Malaysia. the broadcasting of the show has not been approved by Malaysian Gov. at the same time i heard that MARAS, didnt take any move to convince them. this is a news from a friend of mine. but some source informs me that, the editors of the show has distributed some copies for their own use. im trying to get it buddy. if i got it ill pass it to u all. im from Klang too. Hi folks , I am new to this group, as old as just a day. I have been a hardcore fan of Rahman's redentions. Hoping this group will enhance my knowledge about His Music and His contributions to the world of music. To start with, i came across this link through another Rahman man. Its quite old, and am sure many of you may already know about this Tsunami song he composed. http://www.donasian.org/video.htm Just wanted to share this with the group. Honestly ( no offence meant ) the song didnt impress me, knowing the intensity of music Rahman has in him. I felt the Lyrics (sepecially the english part) is too casual,,, and the video could have been made better by including more shots of the actual pain experienced by tsunami victims.
