[arr] Oops!HJ Did it Again

2007-06-25 Thread ruben mohan
Hi there, guys my fren have found a piece of music of ARR which is copied by
non other than the greatest copy master Harrish Jayaraj. As you all knw there
is a lot of ARR composition have been recycled by HJ. recently he took a
violin piece from the song Khadalae Enna from Rangeela done by our boss and
use it in Vaikasi Nilave from Unnale Unnale.

check it out Rahmaniacs, it loads very fast and the track is also small.
Open both of this file at a time, wait until it loads fully. then listen to it
1 by 1. im sure you can realise the Lift up by HJ.

Am sorry...Actually it was four weeks before the film was released..BlaaZe
himself told me that..Was with BlaaZe before he leaves to USA for A.R Rahman's
USA and Canada tour.. He played the song in his laptop...It was two weeks
before Sivaji was released and he told that the song was recorded two weeks
back..So, altogether four weeks before the movie is released...That's why it
wasn't in the CD...

ARR was indeed busy for the concerts..Even BlaaZe himself can't believe that
ARR wanted to record a track when the movie will be released soon...Thankfully
everyhting turned out great..

[arr] A.R. Rahman & His 300 Member Band @ Philips Arena, Atlanta

2007-06-25 Thread Thulasi Ram

http://www.bastardly.com/archives/2007/06/25/ar-rahman-his-300-member-band-philips-arena-atlanta/

During my travels through the Dirty South, an Indian friend suggested I
check out a performer named *A.R. Rahman*. My luck was great b/c A.R. & his
band from *Mumbai, India *were traveling through ATL this past weekend. Some
of you might have heard of Mr. Rahman's music (especially all of you *Aishwarya
Rai* fans), but one thing led to another & I was at the show on Saturday
evening.

My two favorite musicians of the night: *The tireless drummer & the flute
guy*.

The drummer was enclosed in what seemed like a small bedroom full of *50
different sized drums*. Besides being locked inside in his drum-room, this
guy would occasionally venture to the middle of the stage beating on one of
his larger drums while the accompanying singer would capture the beats with
his mic.

The flutist, on the other hand, was truly an act to follow through the
evening! The guy had two boxes full of what seemed like a *hundred different
types of flutes*. Through a particular song, the dude would add his *soft
melodies* by casually whipping out one of his many flutes varying in size,
shape, color & construction (some were made of wood or metal, while others
looked like straight-up plastic bongs!).

If you guys ever get a chance to check out this act, I would highly
recommend it!

A.R. Rahman´s 3rd Dimension Tour: A Review

By: Samir Dave

Arriving at the entrance of the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York
on June 16th for A.R. Rahman's 3rd dimension tour, one could feel the
excitement that is reserved solely for the most famous music director from
India. The crowd itself consisted primarily of Tamils from South India, who
had come out in droves to support the man who is arguably one of the most
popular members of their community. Who is this man who has caused such
fervor with his music? Dubbed the Mozart of Madras, A. R. Rahman has
endeared himself as the foremost expert on fusing Eastern and Western
musical influences together and taking Bollywood music into the future.
Before he came on the scene, dance beats and pop sounding songs in Hindi or
Tamil films were few and far between (aside from his mentor, famed music
director Illyaraja). He has brought a modern sensibility and has given a
fresh sound to what some had perceived to be the stale medium of film music.
This is made more apparent by the fact that he has sold over 150 million
albums all over the world, eclipsing popular artists like Justin Timberlake,
Beyonce, and Madonna. From Roja to Guru and from Bollywood to Broadway
(Bombay Dreams), Rahman has built an impressive body of work that will be
enjoyed for many generations to come.

The concert itself started a little more than one hour after the official
start time of 8:00 pm (in typical Indian Standard Time fashion). By 9:10,
the house full crowd had become very restless and had begun shouting in
unison for the show to begin. I have to admit, everyone was blaming the
organizers of the event (Poojanka Entertainment) and I was beginning to
think that this was going to be a very disappointing concert.

The stage was impressively put together, with the left side completely set
up as the percussion section. There was every kind of percussive instrument
imaginable including: bongo, congo, dhol, drum machine, and tabla.
Percussion, it turns out, plays a very important part of any A.R. Rahman
concert as he always travels with percussionist Sivamani; whose work always
raises Rahman's concert to another level. While waiting for the show to
begin, Sivamani came out on stage to test the drum set up, and it's a
testament to his popularity that he got some cheers from the crowd. In the
center of the stage was an open space, leading to a stairwell and a raised
catwalk. Slightly off center was a raised platform with a Korg keyboard
setup (this was where Rahman would position himself during the concert).

Most impressive, was a seven to ten feel tall and twenty feet wide
electric board at the back of the stage, which would display an animated
graphics show for each song during the concert.

A.R. Rahman had brought with him, fellow playback singers Sukhwinder
Singh, Hariharan, Chitra, Sadhana Sargam, Blaaze, Naresh Iyer, and
Madhushree along with 16 dancers.

At about 9:15 p.m. amidst the cacophony of a very angry audience, a humble
man came onto the stage with a microphone. Dressed in a simple black kurta
and pants, the man turned out to be the musical genius A.R. Rahman. He
explained in his quiet and soft voice, that their plane had been delayed and
they had just got in a couple hours before. Rahman profusely apologized,
thanking the crowd, and stating that he hoped everyone would enjoy the show.
The crowd was silent, and you could tell that all was forgiven, for the show
was about to begin!

The lights dimmed, and the concert began with "Ik Onkar" from Rang De
Basanti sung by Chitra. The prayer song was a fitting way to begin the
concert as it segued into a rousing vocal performance of "Jaage Hain" by
Rahman from "Guru". From there on Rahman and his troupe whipped the sold out
11,000 member audience into a frenzy. Never have I seen such audience
participation in any other live Indian concert/event.

There is always difficulty in pleasing an audience that speaks two very
distinct languages, in this case Tamil and Hindi. Rahman handled it well, by
either starting a song off in Tamil and then switching to Hindi or vice
versa. Every now and then there would be a completely Tamil language song
that would get a roar from the audience such as "Vaaji Vaaji" from "Sivaji:
The Boss". I don't understand Tamil, but the music was awesome and the song
got a roar of approval from the audience.

As for Rahman himself, he doesn't dance, he doesn't move much on the
stage, he simply let's the music speak for itself. Instead, he brings along
Blaaze who was one of the vocalists/rappers on the "Rang De Basanti" album.
I have to give credit to Blaaze, for dancing, joking and even mingling with
the audie

of the self are as good as praying, he believes Kailash Kher
The TImes of INdia
WHEN we are born, we are detached from the Almighty. We are forced to live in
different yonis (births) till we attain nirvana and be with Him again. This is
certain. But I don't understand why people live only for themselves and keep
boasting about their laurels. We don't even have control over the breath we
take, then why should we live under the illusion that we have control over
things or people?
I believe in God and I am spiritual. There is a supreme force that guides
us. He is the Panchtatva (five tatvas, namely, earth, fire, air, water and sky)
that we are made of. It’s up to everyone to visualise Him as they want. And
spirituality for me is the purity of a human being. If we do what we believe in
and not let ourselves deviate from that, that, to me, is being spiritual. I am
a Sufi singer and believe in Sufism. In my opinion, most of the works in Sufism
are a female's perspective of her Beloved-Parmaatma (God), and this is beyond
love – it is deewaanapan (obsession).
I bow to the supreme power, I don't do any idol worship or go to a place of
worship. My belief is that one should be aware of one's own self, if you do
your introspection, then that is nothing less than any prayer. My prayer to him
everyday is " Khuda mujhe itni khudai na de, ki mujhe apne siwa koi aur dikhai
naa de" (Lord, don't give me so much power that I can't see beyond my own
self).
But this is easier said than done. People, in order to achieve their dreams
and desires, adopt ways that aren't true and do things that aren't correct ,
somewhere the material lust takes the purity and serenity of their soul away.
It takes a lot of self-control not to be affected . As I have written about
Maaya (material wealth) in one of my songs titled Tauba Tauba, the lyrics of
which go as Ki tu khwaab hai ya dhoka, tujhe koi samajh na paaya (that
materialism is a dream or an illusion, no one has understood so far).
But I see no harm in acquiring material wealth, as long as your means and ways
to acquire are right and your conscience allows you to do your thing. Then you
are on the right track and can be spiritual even as you go all out to acquire
wealth.
This money can buy you luxuries but not happiness. Happiness is a feeling that
gives you a high and we can derive it from our acts and deeds and not by money.
It lies within you just like the Almighty who resides in each one of us and to
reach Him we need to dig deep within and not search outside.
I feel very close to Him when I sing. When I sing live, the energy that
emanates from the audience resonates with my energy and uplifts me. This is a
divine feeling. That huge force of energy that binds us is the proof of His
existence.
I felt very close to God recently when I was recording a devotional song for AR
Rahman's private collection. I saw that while I was singing everybody around me
had tears in their eyes, it was as if He had descended to wash our souls.
Everyone was moist eyed, but no one knew why they were crying.
My one line mantra is to ensure that I don't hurt anyone with my work..

Had it not been for Sukhwinder's creative urge probably 2 of the

gayi. although people enjoyed chaiya chiya they started to lose
patience during ramta jogi and especially ni main samajh gayi.

to the backstage). Will the group owner approve them so the group can
see them.

If this is not convetional way to share them with the group then I can

Thanks.

Sirish- I have tried every outlet here. From the big ones [HMV,
Virgin megastores] to the high street shops in the desi areas and
none of them have it. I am not someone for piracy but this track is a
masterpiece and it's a shame it didn't come out with the original
Guru Soundtrack. I have the 2-disc GURU DVD so I was able to rip it
off the DVD but couldn't get rid of the fire crackling bits and
voices which kind of ruins the beauty of this superior track. I don't
think I have the patience to hang around and wait for Sony to put
their act together and make simultaneous releases world wide. It's
not even available on iTunes and I doubt it will be for obvious
reasons.

Re: [arr] MOTTAI BOSS RAP BIT ??

2007-06-25 Thread ar rahman djs
Hi Maniam and fellow Rahmaniacs,

I have put some efforts to provide the awesome rap bit whichis specially done
for Sivaji - Mottai Boss (BGM). This track has been ripped and edited it into a
good quality. I couldn't say it is the best quality, as it is ripped from a
very low quality
of video clip. After undergoing some editing and addition of some effects, the
track came out well.

I will try to upload the high quality audio, as soon as the DVD copy of the
movie is released. Till then have this track for your satisfaction (good
quality). We are providing it in 3 different formats - mp3, wma, and wave
formats. Download it directly from high speed server now. Comments are most
welcomed.

[arr] ARR Sivaji

2007-06-25 Thread Arun
The popular Chennai Box-Office is back on Sify.com after a break of two
months. CBO as it is popularly known is the most authentic yardstick for the
performance of any film in Chennai. The figures mentioned in the CBO are
sourced from the distributor or the theatre screening the film. Our ratings
are purely based on the box-office collections in Chennai city. CBO is back
when the Sivaji fever hits the screens. In Chennai, Sivaji became the first
film ever to release in 17 screens, and it opened big to 100 percent capacity.

According to 'Abirami' Ramanathan, who has released the film in city along
with GV films: "Sivaji, has taken the best ever opening since talkies came to
Chennai. 2,70,230 audience saw it during the first four days of its release in
17 screens and the film netted a whopping Rs 1.35 crore".
Added B.Udeep, CEO, Mayajaal Multiplex on ECR which falls in trade circles in
the Chengalpet area, but is patronized by Chennai city audience: "It is a
blockbuster at Mayajaal. In its opening weekend, the film has done 78 houseful
shows across six screens and collected approximately Rs 13.5 lakhs from 12200
audiences".
No other film could stand up to the Sivaji tsunami that hit the CBO! Jhoom
Barabar Jhoom, the week's other release was washed away along with Cheeni Kum,
Chennai 60028, Dubai Seenu, Pirates of the Caribbeans and other summer hits.
Sivaji rules the chart from one to five at the CBO. A rare feat which has not
happened before anywhere

[arr] SHIVAJI - IN HONGKONG !!!

2007-06-25 Thread rakesh kumar
Dear All,

Yesterday I watched shivaji in Hong Kong. Thanks to the Rajni Fans
Association-HK, We could watch the Movie in full screen and in full glory,
Where to start, it was really a thrilling experience to see the movie. I think
this movie has raised standards not only for Tamil cinema, but raise it for a
rajni cinema, Indian cinema, in stunts, in cinematography, in style ..in every
department it had excelled.

The movie starts at 9:00 and there was already people waiting till 8:00. There
was only one show and looking at the Tamil population in HK almost 90% were
there. There were some japanese friends also to see the movie.

And as soon as the title "SuperStar Rajni" Come. The noise was deafening.
Nobody could control theory emotions and there were whistles and claps in
almost every scene.

The Movie
Story wise it was a simple story of a man who want to do good to the society
but the corruption in the administration pulls him down. The story was no
different by the execution is mind blowing. And congrats to Shankar for
thinking big.

When i watched Mudalvan, i thought could the next movie of shankar match it?
Then came "anniyan" again i think - a novel story great stunts - could the next
movie match it ?. Though i dont have any doubt in the talents of shankar, rajni
kant or ARR but forseeing a future is difficult. Now came Shivaji - A complete
Masala Movie - worth more than the money spend on ticket.

The first half is comedy , vivek in full form. Rajni was a little subdued in
it. I know this calmness is before the Storm. And he comes in What a Force
Man.. Amazing.. Simply Brilliant. Just like a roller coaster ride. I a not
really getting words to express the experience. Last 15 minutes the film and
Rajni's performance reaches to heights, no one match.

Rajnikant
He was TourDe Force. A complete performance. From Comedy to action to
emotional. He done all with great elan. The scene where near the footpath he
says that with thsi 1 rupee he will fight ..that was class. You can see the man
changing from a simpleton to powerhouse. And what a performance he had given as
mottai boss. Complete "PAISA VASOOL". Though the ticket was 200 HK dollars but
my friend said after the movie. It was worth 1000 Hk Dollars.

Songs & Background music.
ARR Rocks in every scene. Every song is lavishly shot. There was riot of
colors. Music by our boss is kick ass. Wether it is Ballelakka, Athirade or,
sahaana or style or vaaji vaaji. each song is rendered very well and shot well.
I really like the song Athirade and Style for its innovative idea and
picturization.Especially Aithrade.
One thing i like about Shankar is that he give full justive to Rehman's music
and when his film is of certain budget, you can see the whole budget on screen.
Shivaji is 80 crore plus movie and in each frame you can see the money put in.

ARR Background puts the scene in different level. I noticed the level of
greatness in the BG which gel well with the scene. Like in the Music shop fight
scene, as they fight from one instrument to another, the bg music changes with
stunts.. real genius. Other is outside court when Adi give 1 rupee to shivaji
and last but not the least the end stunts rap.

Cinematography by KV Anand is very good. Actions are superb.

If you want to see how bg can elevate a scene then watch Shivaji and Lagaan.
Every background piece is different and according to the scene.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

One word to those people who says how can he fight 10 peoples, how can he base
rich so soon. Com 'on guys what have you gone to do there ?? to write a Phd
Thesis on Shivaji Movie ? Enjoy the movie. Have fun. Why are you searching
logic in it. You don't find logic in Hollywood Movies. You will digest the
movie and accept the hero who wears his underwear over his pants..Don't you ??

Last One word. RAJNI ROCKS.. ARR ROCKS..SHANKAR ROCKS. ALL IN ALL SHIVAJI ROCKS.

Hi Friends,

our area theatre(Maharani Theatre in Chennai). Theatre is housefull
with family members.Surprise is tha, not able to find any regular
fans. Its full of family audience. in fact, i watched with my family.
Family audience viewing started for Sivaji, so Sivaji will be a super
duper hit of the year in indian cinema. Good news is that, sivaji is
still running housefull. if you have not done Advance booking, then
you can see movie only buying black ticket. in the INOXmovies.com
website, in the front page itself, they published, SIVAJIs tickets
soldout for INOX CHENNAI for another 2 weeks. they opened reservation
only for next week. those are sold out. one important thing is, INOX
chennai showing sivaji in 2 screens per day 8 shows in weekdays, in
weekends 10 shows. Hats off to Rajni, Shankar, ARR and AVM.

I am coming to the point,

i found "Warriors of heaven and earth" BGM bit used in sivaji when
mottai rajni doing stunt in the climax.

It suits very well.

our Boss(ARR) has all rights to use his own music across his albums. i
am glad about that. it suits perfectly while rajni doing stunt.

Is anyone found the same as like me. Share your experience with me.
thanks.

Hats off to ARR.

Long Live ARR.

[arr] Presenting, LAGAAN - THE SHADES OF LIFE EDITION

2007-06-25 Thread wiredbeats
  Dear all,

It has been few years since the land mark film in Indian film history was
released. The benchmark of modern day film making for Indian audiences – Lagaan
has set itself in such a plateau that few films have come closer to it in
various departments. The films music by itself stands apart as a classic work
of art, which requires special accolades.
Of course, the list of several awards including the prestigious Academy
award nomination for the year 2001 speaks volumes of the films superiority.
I have taken all these into consideration and have been working on a
presentation of layering the film’s fantastic background score by AR Rahman
into a musical journey across life’s various facets, much like the film itself.
Please consider my version of the film’s score, which I prefer to call it
as ‘Lagaan – The Shades of Life edition’. This edition is my version of
representing the musical score of the film, representing the shades of anyone’s
life.

It is about 19 mins in length with excellent sound quality. I would recommend
you to spend that extra time in downloading this version. There are no extra
beats, vocals or any other rendition added, apart from what Rahman had
originally composed for the motion picture.

Click here (make sure you are logged in):

http://wiredbeats.com/component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/gid,28/Itemid,33/

Or

Navigate to http://www.wiredbeats.com

I bet it would make a good time spent and would give you an opportunity to
appreciate the other side of Lagaan’s music, the one that is not in the audio
CD.

If you are one of the many who liked my version of Swades’ score titled Swades
– The Mood swing Lounge mix, you would certainly enjoy the Lagaan experience as
well.
