Pavan, Agree with you 100%

Its not just about doing different genres. The most significant
aspect of ARR's music is that He has been able to get commercial
successes out of all these genres of music that he has attempted.
Thats the magic of ARR :-).
I am eagerly waiting for Jodhaa Akbar, which if becomes HIT will
make ARR leap years ahead of any other composer on this planet as
far as versatality goes.

Thanks,
Vinod

with superstar Rajinikanth in the recently-released Sivaji, it only
gets bigger and better.
This time, it is target Shah Rukh Khan and he won't be running
around trees romancing the ladies.
Said to be Shankar's dream project, it's a sci-fi film, titled
Robot, that will have Shah Rukh playing the lead.
So impressed was Shah Rukh with Shankar's project, that he
offered to produce the film under his banner, Red Chillies
Entertainment.
Though Shankar is being tight-lipped about the project, we know
that he's spending every waking minute working out the finer details
of the project and Robot will officially go on the floors in four
months' time.
And while the filmmaker busies himself with his dream venture,
Shah Rukh's got his hands full at the moment with the upcoming film

As Chak De India promos keep up the buzz on King Khan, we're

[arr] Re: Munbe Munbe Vaa is a complete lift of a sample!

2007-07-31 Thread noorulwahid
The loop used in Munbe Vaa is much different from the one you have
posted. What I think he is referring to is the hip-hop like, clap-
like beat that is repeated throughout the song. This one sounds
similar but the one A R R has used is similar.

It ain't an offence to use a loop beat as the base of the song.

Even Harris Jayaraj is guilty of it
-Mazhai Mazhai from Ullam Ketkumae
When I say this, you would instantly remember that he had copied
Muthu BGM for the starting, but I am referring to the repetitive
beat at the back throuhgout the song, also found in another song by
another MD

-Kadhal Yaanai from Anniyan, Kannum Kannum Nokia from Anniyan
This is the worst case of loop usage. The whole song (almost) is
made out of club loops and techno loops which I found easily in
other songs from other movies and even in ads.
Even A R Rahman himself has used a small portion of the loop found
in Remo song, in Mayilirage if you listen carefully.

So guys, loops are made to add spice to their songs by MD and you
see that Munbe Vaa, only the beats are formed by loops.
The beautiful Rango Rangoli show's ARR is a gem

2007-07-31 Thread arr_raghu
Hi
Putting aside the issue of Munbe va for a while,
I am have both Boys and SOK on both regular and 5.1 versions.
When I play these CDs on 5.1 systems, it seems to me that regular
CDs are providing much better and higher output compared to 5.1s.
I am surprised that even channeling is much better on regular CDs
than on 5.1s.. Wondering if anyone else felt the same with these CDs

Are these so called 5.1s recorded at the best quality?
Even the mp3 of GirlFriend is giving much better sound quality and
channeling than the original 5.1 CD.. this cannot be true.

I am using creative soundblaster for 5.1 channeling which is
pretty good by itself..

I was really shocked, it was like A. R. Rahman used these samples but
played them in adifferent range! it sounds like a complete lift! Even
the beat measure of this sample is a clear copy of the rythm used by
A. R. Rahman in Munbe Munbe Vaa!!!

Are these so called 5.1s recorded at the best quality?
Even the mp3 of GirlFriend is giving much better sound quality and

2007-07-31 Thread Thulasi Ram
What is so special about Sakkarakatti being produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu is
that it would bring together two siblings, whose fathers have rendered
yeomen service to the industry.

The film is directed by Kalaprabhu S Dhanu. The film is produced by his
father Kalaipuli S Dhanu. It stars Shantanu Bhagyaraj, son of Bhagyaraj,
Vedhika and Ishita. A R Rahman scores the music for the film.

Expectations were high on Shanthanu even before he commenced the shooting
for the movie. Since his father K Bhagyaraj is an acclaimed actor-director,
people would naturally expect Shanthanu to hit the target right way.

Shanthanu says, Of course I have pressure and I have to live up the
expectations of the masses. When I acted with my father as a child artiste
in Vettiya Madichu Kattu, I learnt the nuances of acting. I watched my dad
very close in the sets. Later when he directed Parijatham, I was almost like
an assistant director to him, helping in completing the film.

I am fortunate to work with a set of highly-skilled technicians in my debut
venture itself. Though I am happy, it creates some tension in me for I have
to give my best in the movie.
Kalaprabhu grew up watching Dhanu from very close quarters. Obviously
expectations are high on the movie when sons of two stalwarts come
together.

I agree with KunalWould you say that because somebody had the Theen
taal (tabla) in a song...nobody else can use it. If somebody else used it,
would you actually be shocked. Its just a sequence of beats / notes. The true
gift would be using it a place where it sounds not just good but great.

People make Loop CDs and sample banks specially for composers to use in their
music. I dont think there is any composer in the world who has worked without
samples and loops. When it is made specially for them... why not use it ???

  Hi guys and girls,

Me as a omposer do use lots of samples, not in all my music. Ofcourse
I'm not the only one who uses these samples.
Last month I bought a sample bank: Uberschall - Da Nu RnB, Hip Hop
  Drum Loops and Samples.

I was really glad hearing these awesome samplestill suddenly I
heard a simmilarity between a sample song called Hip Harp and Munbe
Munbe Vaa!!!

I was really shocked, it was like A. R. Rahman used these samples but
played them in adifferent range! it sounds like a complete lift! Even
the beat measure of this sample is a clear copy of the rythm used by
A. R. Rahman in Munbe Munbe Vaa!!!

I like you guys to hear these samples, but pls give me a good link
where i can upload these files.

Warning : DO NOT GET SHOCKED HEARING THESE SAMPLES, THESE SAMPLES ARE
MADE BEFORE A. R. RAHMAN'S MUNBE MUNBE VAA!!!

I can say, that everybody uses samples, wheter they are beats or

Wow ! its wonderful... rehman made this bit a hit.. after listening to
this sample this has strengthened my point as said b4 that does not mean
composers lack originality. there is difference btween complete lift
inspiration... i can say rehman inspired by these samples loops but d
creation of rehman's idea of song is magnificent. whatelse we can say
nothing but interesting birth of 5 minute song 4m few seconds loop/sample..
it is all intelligence speaks how to develop d idea.. in film directors
language they say how they developed d story screen play with a small spark
of an idea.. this is different 4m a movie having a similar story.. if
any other junior composer cld get a trak resembling to munbe vaa... 4m any
other hiphop album containing lines like rangoli chorus etc. atleast to 50% of
rehman's song i agree it is a lift..

Even
the beat measure of this sample is a clear copy of the rythm

Godi..

What're you trying to say here? HJ is better than ARR. HJ's music is better
than ARR's. Is is so You just added BOSS in front of all your
allegations / complaints. The way you explained looks like this. You're
praising ARR but actually you're accusing him. I don't know how to put it
right in English. But in Tamil, we've onething in our grammer which is
Vanja Pugalchi Ani. It means that you'll scold the person as if you're
praising and vice-versa. You did the same here. Try 2 grow up, dude...

See, there're many guyz entered this forum. Good 2 have constructive
arguments about ARR's music. But this case is not at all valid to be
discussed. These samples are meant to be used. If these samples are not
used, how come the person who sells this will survive? Commercially, there
is nothing wrong in using samples. They'll not be treated as lift. Try to
grow up, dudes...

Plz put an end to this stupid topic.

As the bus travels down the East Coast Road at God-knows-what speed, I

KiLigaL - I am listening to it after a long time. I love everything
about it - the humming in the beginning, lovely lines like `naan

 around 2 minutes.

Munching a Dairy Milk Eclairs, listening to Jiya Jale ( wonderful

It feels as though Rahman himself wanted to cheer me up and stop

I recently bought Final Cut Studio, which comes with a program called
Soundtrack and a collection of samples loops. While I was going
through the loops, I noticed several that ARR has used in songs. The
piano intro to Khoon Chala from RDB, the opening beats of Thazhuvudu
from Aa Aah, the cello piece from Nenjam Ellam in AE, and a few
others. While I understand that composers use loops, it does
disappoint me a little when I find out that a clever bit of music I
admired is a sample. At least ARR is clever and he isn't just
throwing loops together. He composes the vast majority of any given
song and uses the loops creatively.
