ATM shooting complete, Post-production in progress Looks like the word Sivaji has quite a connection with Vijay's next film Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. First Shriya who became popular with the recent blockbuster film 'Sivaji' was signed to play the heroine of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan opposite Vijay. Now, a superhit song from Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan's hit film Sorgam is being re-tuned for Vijay's Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. The song Ponmagal Vandhal Porul Kodi Thandhal has been re-tuned by AR Rahman and was picturized on Vijay and Shriya in a grand set erected in Chennai. The shooting for the film was wrapped up after the completion of this song, and post production work (dubbing, re- recording) will be started in the coming days and will go on in full flow. The audio of the film is scheduled for release sometime early in October although the official confirmation date is not yet available. The audio of the film has tremendous expectations with Vijay and AR Rahman coming together after a long long time, and also coupled with the mega success of AR Rahman's Sivaji which created records this year. I know people who tell me Rahman creates stero-typical and over-rated music. I listen to the music and understand the truth myself rather than relying on un-educated and ignorant opinions. Just because zoom mentions that Metro songs are copied, should we assume so? Someone at zoom could just as easily say that Guru songs are copied! Would you believe that? Also, someone's idea of a copy might be greatly skewed with their personal beliefs. As I mentioned in my last email, shakalaka Baby by Rahman uses a commercial loop, and Secret of Success uses the catch line from Britney Spears...does that undermine the musical value of the song? No. Being inspired is largely different from copying outright (e.g. Murder song - Kaho na kaho and Bheegey hoonth tere). My suggestion is that if you truly enjoy good music, listen to it with an open mind. Focusing on who has done the music can easily trick the mind into forming pre-judiced opinions. For some reason I think that ARR is not getting the kind of projects he deserve at this point of his career. ARR must work with the directors and the team which thrive for absolute class in movie industry. The projects which can really give him a chance to explore new domains and reinforce his legendary status. For now I am only heavily banking on Jodha Akbar for his artistic expression. ATM and few other movies are there but they will be more commercial than the scope for aesthetic wizardry. Whatever ARR does, Ghazini will surly raise comparison with the former version and there will be players on either side of the game. And sorry but I expect the least with SJS film. Touted to be a musical entertainer, this movie focuses on the life and times of an IT professional, which means both stylish and very contemporary. A.R.Rahman That apart, down South, if reliable sources are to be believed, Rahman will score for the Pavan Kalyan starrer Puli directed by S.J. Surya. Puli is also associated with some of the bigwigs of the industry including Camera by renowned cinematographer Ravi K Chandran. Rahman's major Hindi projects include the Aamir Khan Asin starrer Gajini directed by Murugadoss. He is also associated with the epic movie Jodhaa Akbar, directed and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker that stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. Rahman's music for Jodhaa has raised the bar among his fans and critics alike for the story revolves around the great Mughal Emperor Akbar and his Hindu wife Jodhabai On the cards is also Delhi 6, directed by Rakeysh Mehra whose previous successful venture with Rahman include Rang De Basanti that was also nominated for the Oscars. Besides, Rahman is also talked to be scoring Yuvraaj produced by Anil Kapoor and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na directed by Abbas Tyrewala and produced by Aamir Khan Productions and PVR Cinema.
