Re: [arr] Re: When I heard ARR for the first time !!!

2008-03-11 Thread durba bhattacharjee
It was 'Spirit of Unity Concerts for National Integration' airing every Sunday
at 10 in the morning. I used to watch it religiously even before I heard Roja.
I never cared to check the credit list at the end to see who composed the title
music, though I used to like it very much. It was only after the 'roja
experience' one day when the program started I thought that it must be by ARR.
Then only I checked the credits at the end and came to know that it was by A.
R. Rahman. As far as I can remember, he was not credited as 'Dileep Kumar'.
Later probably they had felicitated him and included the footage also during
the begining or ending credits.

[arr] 10th anniversary of Dil Se coming up

2008-03-11 Thread Chord
Probably the best album by ARR and probably never to be surpassed, one
of the most evergreen albums in recent times, a complete album in
every way possible, sheer genius and brilliance in every note and
sound, remember back to June 1998 when you heard Dil Se for the first
time. I wasn't as big of an ARR fan then as I am now, so my first
recollections of Dil Se are a bit foggy. I would like to hear from
all of you your first reactions to the music of Dil Se when it first
released. We can make anniversary posts for all of ARR's greatest
albums, but I felt that Dil Se's music deserved special attention.

Listened to Dil Se on my IPOD last night after a long time and I was
completely mesmerized, totally tranced into a different world of
beautiful melodies, haunting chords and rhythms, rich arrangements,
soulful singing, just pure musical bliss. The sonic and music power of
this album is just collossal. Truly something "Godlike" about this
soundtrack. It never gets old. No matter how many times I listen to
Dil Se's music, it just never gets old or boring. Some here may not
agree that it's ARR's #1, but a soundtrack like this doesn't come
along very often, if ever again.

Re: [arr] Query about Ujjaini - again!

2008-03-11 Thread Fazil Anand
I donno whether she has participated in Saregamapa 2005. But I am damn sure
that she has participated as a part of the band (I don't remember the band name
correctly!) in Ooh Lalala which was featured in Sun TV last year. It had ARR as
the judge. Y I am saying this is bcoz I saw her sing along with Naresh Iyer in
Vijay TV few days back. She had sung Valayappati Thavile from ATM.

Also, I heard that in Farah Khan's next film Amanat Ali of Saregamapa Challenge
2007 will sing under ARR's composition. I donno if its a rumour but I'm waiting
to get a concrete news on it.
