[arr] Re: Kannathil Muthamitaal Climax BGM

2008-05-16 Thread Thineshan
my initial plan was to rip that BGM for you guys so that you can hear
a sample and continue with the rest of the movie. But, I couldnt. I
heard it to check if everything was alright and I couldnt stop. LOL,
thats why I still have not give you all the entire BGM. But expect it
in another few hours.

[arr] Re: Kannathil Muthamitaal Climax BGM

2008-05-16 Thread Thineshan
Hey Vithur, it is a real honour for me when someone like you is
requesting me. thanks for that.

Size:
Ya, the best compression method that will still keep it lossless is
.flac which I had used. If i did not use flac the size will be
somewhere around 10-12/minute. with flac its halved 5-6/minute. And
the quality is EXACTLY the same as wav when i say exact, i mean it.
Also what you have to notice is that the BGM is more than 10 minutes.
I think 57 mb is alrite for 10 minutes??

Suggestion:
That is why I suggested the torrent method. Which means people who
download via torrent can seed forever. That means as time goes by,
other people will be able to download in super speed. Whereas
filesharing websites take down the file after a while.

Request:
If it's mp3 files you are talking about I do not think I can be of
much help. mp3 is already compressed and so when u apply a voice
remover on it, it distorts it a great amount.

Keep up the great work Vithur. Your BGMs are amazing nevertheless!

[arr] Pop Shalini in Rahmania Show

2008-05-16 Thread Vithur
Pop Shalini 's Birthday falls today ( May 16 ), and she was present in the
Show with Raihanaji. She hasnt sung any solos for ARR. She has sung
harmonies for Yakkai Thiri, Maramkothiyee, Ilamai.

She has been doing Jingles recording from the age of 5 years. She had
participated in a lot of school competitions. She was part of a musical
troupe Alpha to Omega. She used to hear and sing " The Sound of Music" right
from her childhood days. She tries to improvise on her songs in Recording
sessions, only if the Music Director gives her the freedom to do so.

Studio Recording has always been a big thing for her. Wearing the
headphones, the Plastic Belt was like a toy for her, right from her
childhood days.

First Movie Song - When she was in her XIth Class, She had sung for the film
" Thulli Thirindha Kaalam". She has also sung for Appu, Panchathanthiram

Till date, she has sung about 500 songs.

It was a dream experience for her, and was really a big deal, when she was
called from ARR 's studio for Ayidha Ezhithu ( Yakkai Thiri song ) . She has
been trying chances for singing with ARR for long, but never knew the
avenues to do so. She had stored the number of ARR 's studio in her mobile,
and when she got a call from that number, from Mr. Samydurai, she couldnt
believe if it was true. Mr. samydurai called her and asked her to come by 7
: 30 PM. She was asking him more than twice, if it was she really, for which
he was smiling. . When she entered the studio of ARR, she saw the black
Keyboard first, and was wonder struck seeing it ( ROJA Keyboard on the wall
) . On one side, was ARR, and on the other side was Maniratnam sitting
there. That moment was very special to her, like a dream come true.

After she did that song, and after it was approved,, she was called for
Maramkothiye song ( Ah Aah). she got reassured that she could do something,
as her voice has been approved earlier . S.J. Suryah, ARR, Vasundhara das
were present at that time. She heard the song, " Mayilerage" being played
there, and was told that the Maramkothiya song would be a different version
of that song. That itself was something new for her, and she felt happy for
that new experience. She says , that ARR never shouts for any mishap from
the singer's side, in making any mistakes etc . He is always down to earth,
and just smiles, whenever any singer makes any error while singing. he
laughs and tells once more.

The next work for ARR was for singing harmonies for Varalaaru with Tanvi (
Ilamai ) . She says that she was very happy for that also, as she says that
singing harmonies enhances the beauty of the song always.

She had done only 1 Pop Album in her life, and that people can remove the
title Pop Shalini from her name. But she had got of mileage from Magnasound,
and she had featured in Star Plus, NDTV. When she started singing, at that
time, Baby Shalini ( Actor Ajith's wife ) was also singing, and hence for
differentiating both of them, she got the title Pop Shalini. She says that
she doesnt want to accept a pure Classical song, because she has been used
to singing Hindustan classical song. Apart from that her hobbies are reading
novels.

Her favourite songs of ARR are as follows

1. Yeh Jo Desh Hai tera

song had 3 languages in it.. ie.hindi, english and marwari..thats the magic

  Yes Arvind,
I do clearly remember that interview.
I loved every bit of it..
i remember that i was writing my class 10th board exams those days and in
between i took break from studies for an hr and watched the whole show .

i loved the description how arr said like "O rey chori" was the most difficult
song for him to compose in that movie as it included indian folk and western
bits, And when clubed together they should not sound like two different songs.

And it was so funny how Udit Narayan commented " ARR sir is very hardworking.
.the plays and sings the whole night ...and makes us also to sing the whole
night"
.and he was recording for the song "Ghanan Ghanan" and in between does a
mistake and den says.."sorry sir..once more"

And it was superb the way amir khan was describing the songs..i remember wen he
said that in the song "Radha kaise na jale" ..it displays the expression of
jealousy beautifully. .."Jab radha gaa rahi hai to tabla baichain ho raha
hai"..Wen the girl is singing the beats of Tabla shows restlesness of the girl!

It was really a great show altogether..
i really wish to find the video of that somewhere in youtube..

Thanx for reminding the show it brought in so many memories

Hi Priyadharshini,

Thanks for that!!
The video that u have posted is from the documentary about Indian Film Music
that was aired on a foreign channel named ARTE (Is it french?)

What Pavan is asking is a different one The "making of Lagaan music" which
was telecasted on DD was a superb program, in which each and every song was
discussed.

I stil distinctly remember a few bits from the program:

- ARR says that it is difficult to put two different genre's in one song (folk
and western classical --> O Rey Chori). It will make it sound like two
different songs. But, he made sure that the "my heart it speaks" bit fits in
well and blends seamlessly and sounds like one complete song!

- Aamir sings "aaja re aaja re... aaja re aaja re" (Mitwa). He says it is a
wonderful motivational song. Then he says if some one is upset or disappointed,
one listening of this song is enough to boost him up!
He also mentions that ARR's songs take time to grow on you, but once it does
"aapke khoon mein chad jaata hai" (It gets right into your blood)

Even I was thinking about this programme sometime back Would be great if
someone has it!!!

BTW, I do have the full documentary (the ARTE documentary about Indian Film
Music) in good quality... I downloaded whn it was posted in the group only! If
someone doesnt have it and want it now, I can upload it...

I remeber watching Making of Laagan's Music on DD Metro, weeks before the actual
release of the movie.

The Making had everything.. .Each and every song was discussed in detail...It
was a very good proggrame.Rahman was praised superbly by Jaaved Shaab and
Ashu

I know, its very difficult..but does anyone by chance has the video of that?,It
would be great viewing for all of our fans..

Re: [arr] Remix fever grips Rahmaniacs

2008-05-16 Thread Vithur
They have been appeasing the Cyber Gods for over a week. All they wanted to
do was download two songs from a website. Thanks to the heavy site traffic,
they simply couldn't get them downloaded.

However, after a week of staying glued to the website, young Rahmaniacs in
the city have finally got the two songs saved in their systems. Now they are
busy remixing the tracks and dreaming wild about the big prize waiting for
them.

Truly, spending a day with A R Rahman and getting to record a song at his
private studio can easily be the stuff of the wildest dreams of any
music-loving youngster, leave alone the Rahmaniacs. And that is exactly what
the songs 'Gumsum' and 'Gulfisha' could do.

Those of you who still haven't got the drift of what we are talking about,
it's the remix competition launched by Rahman in association with Nokia
Express Music. All you have to do is download the soundtracks of these songs
from the upcoming Hindi flick 'Ada' from remixrahmansada.com, remix it and
upload it back on the website.

A first-of-its-kind remix contest in India, launched on May 1, the
competition also offers ten winners the chance to star in the music video of
the songs along with Rahman. Less than a fortnight into the competition, the
website is already swarming with remixed postings of the songs, both sung by
Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik.

"It is really the chance of a lifetime. I mean, being with Rahman itself is
gratifying enough," says Ranjith Nayar, a student of Sound Engineering
Academy (SEA), a private sound technology institute in the city. Ranjith and
three of his friends at SEA are participating in the competition together.

Participants can remix the song either by using the customised Nokia Express
Music mixer available on the website or using other audio softwares like
Frooti Loops.

Once you upload your remixed version, it's public. Which means people can
not only listen to it at the Remix Gallery of the website, they can also
rate your remix. The best of the top-rated remix actually gets entered on
the home page of the website.

But server-related complaints like compatibility of the website with certain
audio softwares and problems in downloading had been worrying the
participants in the initial days.

"It could be due to the heavy traffic to the website, we were not being able
to download the songs for a week. But fortunately we've now got it
downloaded. Now it's all about doing our best,'' says Bibi S. Bose, another
participant from SEA.

It's not just the sound engineers who are giving a shot at the competition.

Jayakrishnan B, a student of College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram (CET)
is another youngster in the fray from the city.

"This competition is really typical of Rahman who always encourages young
talent. For fans like us, this is really like a wild, wild dream come true,"
says Jayakrishnan, a hardcore Rahmaniac.

Jayakrishnan, however, maintains that he did not have any any problem
downloading the songs. "Maybe it is because I downloaded it on the very
first day, when not many people knew about the competition. But I have not
been able to upload the remixed song. So I am planning to courier it now,"
he said.

Technical snags are the last thing the participants are asking for, what
with the May 31 deadline fast approaching. "We are remixing the song using
the Protools audio software. All we want to do is win the competition, leave
everything and go to Rahman," says Ranjith.

I Guess it was the first interview of ARR telecated in North India. I hail from

heard the lines "chinna chinna asai" first time here in this interview. I guess
i was 7/8 years old that time
Months later when i heard the same song in Hindi, I almost jumped.
So, this interview is very special to me.This interview was my first encounter

Rare and old interview of A R Rahman uploaded to *ARR The Boss*.

Watch and also you can download the video interview.

It arouses some nostalgic thoughts. It was broadcasted in Doordarsan just
when Roja was released. And our masters name was also rendered as Abdul
Rahman. What a world was that...

It was history in the making, he was same modest as he is now. Do not miss

the one which I get my hands on first. And as per the official info coming

Re: [arr] Making of Laagan's Music - Does anyone has the video?

2008-05-16 Thread Neetika raina
Yes Arvind,
I do clearly remember that interview.

And it was so funny how Udit Narayan commented " ARR sir is very
hardworking..the plays and sings the whole night ...and makes us also to sing
the whole night"
.and he was recording for the song "Ghanan Ghanan" and in between does a
mistake and den says.."sorry sir..once more"

And it was superb the way amir khan was describing the songs..i remember wen
he said that in the song "Radha kaise na jale" ..it displays the expression of
jealousy beautifully..."Jab radha gaa rahi hai to tabla baichain ho raha
hai"..Wen the girl is singing the beats of Tabla shows restlesness of the girl!

It was really a great show altogether..
i really wish to find the video of that somewhere in youtube..

Thanx for reminding the show it brought in so many memories

~Love music love life

Hi Priyadharshini,

Thanks for that!!
The video that u have posted is from the documentary about Indian Film Music
that was aired on a foreign channel named ARTE (Is it french?)

What Pavan is asking is a different one The "making of Lagaan music" which
was telecasted on DD was a superb program, in which each and every song was
discussed.

I stil distinctly remember a few bits from the program:

- ARR says that it is difficult to put two different genre's in one song
(folk and western classical --> O Rey Chori).

The Making had everything.. .Each and every song was discussed in detail...It
was a very good proggrame.Rahman was praised superbly by Jaaved Shaab and
Ashu

I know, its very difficult..but does anyone by chance has the video of
that?,It would be great viewing for all of our fans..

Does anyone remember seeing that Making?
