The much awaited Aamir
Khan
starrer*Ghajini*'s first theatrical promo was unleashed to the media today
on the auspicious day of Diwali, in Aamir's presence at a suburban Mumbai
theatre.

Aamir told us, "I wanted this film to be a Diwali release but then
unfortunately it got delayed because of my leg injury. I therefore hoped at
least the promos would be unleashed on Diwali day." Aamir appeared as
excited as a school boy on the occasion. "I am watching it for the first
time on the big screen so I am very excited to find out how it looks," said
Aamir, anxiety written all over his face.

There was darkness in the theatre before the promo began. There was a
perceptible pause when suddenly Aamir stood up, saying, "So that was it
guys, the show is over!" There was a chuckle and the hall burst into
laughter!

Aamir also ensured that all the channel crews and photographers paid
attention to the promo and had all shut down their cameras, concentrating
only on the screen, and not on him. As the first look of *Ghajini* played
out on the screen, there was pin-drop silence followed by a thunderous
applause. Aamir was quick to ask *buzz18*, "How was it? Didn't you feel it
was a little too short?"

Well Aamir you are right, it just left us asking for more!

Almost as if on cue, Aamir requested for a repeat view, following which he
began an informal chat with the media.

The slickly shot promo shows a mix of Aamir romancing newcomer
Asinat
some really exotic locations and Aamir the revenge seeker indulging in some
heavy duty violence. When asked about his favorite moment in the promo,
Aamir said it was when he enters on screen for the first time in his *
Ghajini* look.

Wasn't the violence too much on your face? (There is a shot of Aamir
stomping on a man's face) "The violence of Ghajini is special," was his
reply.

Aamir is seen flaunting his six-pack-abs almost throughout the promo. But
the star corrected us saying they were eight packs actually. When asked how
many times he has gone shirtless in the movie as compared to Salman, he
replied, "Just one time lesser than Salman. In fact Salman said he liked my
first look of *Ghajini*."

Speaking about his efforts that went into getting this mind-blowing
physique, he said, "I worked out three hours everyday which also included 45
minutes of abs related exercise. There were days when I didn't feel like
working out as I was busy doing the post production work of *Taare Zameen
Par*. That is when I realised that it was more of a mind game than a body
game to pull one back to the gym."

So did he intend to maintain this physique for his future films as well?
"Well that won't be possible as I need to lose it for the character I am
playing in Rajkumar Hirani's *3 Idiots*."

Aamir left the venue with the reminder, "This DecemberForget
everything...just remember Dec 25".

For the *Ghajini* teaser, keep watching this space.

The legendary musical maestro A R Rahman has finally shared something from
his heart. Thanks to the occasion of Diwali, the usually quiet Rahman said
that he makes it a point to celebrate it with his family and most
importantly burning crackers is a must when it comes to celebrations. Rahman
said that it is usually the boring sort of people who stay away from burning
crackers, however he maintained that precautions must be taken while burning
them. Point taken Rahman!!!

[arr] Legends of Melody - NDTV Interview

2008-10-28 Thread Vithur
AR was continuosly laughing, smiling, and very happy during the interview,
which was retelecasted just now in NDTV. He seemed to be very relaxed, his
body language was so calm, composed.

Some prominent points which he said was

1. He liked the film " Hero " of Subhash Ghai, and remember it seeing as a
kid
2. He was hearing the song " Yeh Ajnabee" in his car very recently.
3. Subhash Ghai saying " Rahman 's minimum standard is excellent"
4. AR saying " Gulzarji had rejected five movies, where AR wanted him to
write lyrics"
5. Subhash Ghai saying he liked " Bombay, Taal, YUvraaj"

Much more. Awaiting the NDTV URL for the videos soon

Oh! man Oh! man Oh! man yeppyyy. It seems
like it will be the best movie after Rang De Basanti for our boss and
for the film industry. Aamir looks stunning, mindblowing, fantastic.
And what to say about our boss's music its simply awesome. Sounds
like Sonu Nigam once again.

And I wish form the dept of my heart that Ghajni's music leaves all
the music behing in the world. And it turns out to be much better
than Dil Se's muslic :) . Keep ur fingers crossed guys.

Aamir told long time ago that the movie's title will be changed and
surly it won't be Ghajani, but don't know what happed and they kept
the same name.

Hi,

I just tried downloading the mixes..they seem  to work fine. Sometimes with a
slow internet connection the downloading can timeout giving only a partial
file..

In my website you can find a lot of mixes of Rahmans..tell me if some of the
files are not accessible. Also by Monday i plan to release a Hindi remix set of
about 40 mins..

[arr] Lyrics based BGM - Sangamam

2008-10-28 Thread Vithur
In the film Sangamam, AR has created a superb BGM at this scene

" When Manivannan is humiliated, and comes back, The hero Raghuman embraces
him.At that moment, we can hear the BGM of these lyrics " Oorakkaga Vazhum
Kalaigan Tannai Maraapan, " from Aaalalakanda song.

and also " Magane . Magane.. " as a BGM...

Just mind blowing, and scntillating.

Observe the level of dedication of AR in doing BGMs ..

Hear the same as attached.

Re: [arr] Is ARR doing London Dreams???

2008-10-28 Thread Aaditya(Addy) *COOL*
Shanker Ehsaan Loy is composing music for LONDON DREAMS. Initially it was ARR
who was given chance to compose music, this was the time when Rajkumar Santoshi
was directing the film, but later due to some problem he left the film half
way. And now Vipul Shah has been replaced in place of Rajkumar Santoshi. Sadly
even ARR was replaced. It was told (from some source) that ARR had already
composed music for London Dreams. The reason for his replacement is still not
known. Hope he uses those tunes for his future projects. Please clarify if i am
wrong

EXCLUSIVE:Excerpts frm arr,ghai,gulzar chat
hi all,
today had the pleasure of watching a special program called "legends of melody"
which had arr, subhash ghai and gulzar as the guests for the movie YUVVRAAJ on
NDTV 24*7 at 1.30. It was a great show lasted for half an hour. Although i cant
remember the whole set of questions bt m putting below watever i remember.

Q(to ghai): How did u deal with the mode of working of arr.(arr starts
smiling).How much did u tolerated.
ANS. Well actually i wanted him to prepare the music as fast as possible(starts
laughing). The reason was that i had already imagined how the shot must takes
place, the dress etc. Only part remaining used to be the music. So out of
excitement i wanted him to deliver now. Sometimes u get frustrated bt when u
look at rahman, he has such a divine face. He always remains calm and smiles
when u look at him. So i used to forget everything and start smiling with
him.(both arr and ghai laugh). Bt u know a person like rahman needs his time.
He deserves it.

Q(to gulzar): How much do u think poetry scenario has changed today?
ANS. It has changed a lot. Now a days we hav commercialized poetry. Bt look at
rahman he brought tremendous change. Earlier we used to have 2 lines of mukhada
and then 2 lines of antara. Bt with rahman anything is possible.

Q(to arr): When u prepare tune, if ghai doesnt like wat happens then?
ANS. Nothing he just says it doesnt work. I go to something else. Its that
simple.
(ghai interrupts) The best thing about rahman is that he immediately shifts to
the next tune if i dont like it. He has no such ego. He can change it himself
if he doesnt find it right. Infact sometimes when i like the tune hearing first
time he cant believe it "ki inhe pasand kaise aa gaya itni jaldi"(laughs)

Q(to all): Now each of u hav to tell the 3 works that u liked of the other two
gentlemen in which u hav not collaborated.
ANS. GHAI: my favs are roja, taal and yuvvraaj.( on being reminded not to
mention his own) All are great. in case of arr the least u can expect is
EXCELLENT.

ARR: I m getting nostalgic so i wud say ghai's HERO is the one i used to play

Shyam Benegal is a notable Director. ARR has lots of respect for him, and he
does all Classic movies.

Their comibination is one of the best.

Zubeidaa was simply superb, as also Bose..

2008-10-28 Thread Neetika raina

I was very angry with the movie Bose..

Reason 1: Hardly any song was picrurized nicely

Reason 2: Movie promotion was pathetic

Reason 3: I never got a hand on original Movie CD..

due to some reason i couldnt watch the movie in theatre... but wen tried
wid CD shop...all i got was a pirated CD..few days back...i downloaded the
movie again in a hope that i may get to hear the bgms in a better quality...BUT
NO LUCK...the same bad quality pirated one...:(..i wonder if anyone got
original VCD or DVD of Bose...

But i must thank Benegal for one thing..he has extracted some of the best
tracks from ARR..

Bose, Zubeida...Ultimate...

Chamki Chameli wont be less if they both come together..We fan have a great
reason to b happy for!!

Re: [arr] Semi ARR | Shyam Benegal has begun work on Chamki Chameli

2008-10-28 Thread Kamal Aakarsh Vishnubhotla
Dear Rawat,

I understand your thoughts, on the way certain music has been chopped off from
Bose. But still, Bose is clearly one of the best albums of ARR and i think
certain due credit should be given to Benegal to trust ARR. We must remember
that Shyam Benegal is more of an art-film-maker and he has been using only 1
composer right from late-70s, for all his films: Vanraj Bhatia, who again,
despite being talented, doesnt have any commercial or mainstream films to boast
of. Now for such a film-maker to switch to ARR, who is a mainstream film
composer (ofcourse, now the lines between commercial and parallel cinema are
blurred), it takes quite a confidence and trust. and not just that, the
combination actually worked because Benegal, contrary to what you say, has a
good sense of music. Here is my take on the combo:

1. Zubeidaa - A very classy score. Please hear the album, ARR never composed
tunes like in Zubeidaa, before or even after. They are vintage,
rooted-in-melody and yet contemporary. And not to forget, it was in this film
that he composed his first truly Hindustani Classical track, a 'Thumri', "Chodo
More Saiyyan". And yes, the western classical 'So Gaye Hai' is another Gem.

2. Bose - Again a very classy score. Some beautiful songs for Sonu Nigam,
rooted in Vintage melody. And this is the 1st album of ARR, released as true
OST as such. I mean, we didnt have to rip Voiceless BGMs, because ARR provided
us the brilliant BGMs in the CD. The instrumental tracks, all done with Czech
Philharmonic Orchestra are one of ARR's orchestral best. For all people who
argue with me that ARR is all about technology, i suggest this album as answer.

And lastly, you are mistaken that Thakshak was by Benegal. It was by Govind
Nihlani, a protege of Benegal though. Yet, as you said, there is all likelihood
that songs/music could be chopped off in the film. But then, we need to listen
and appreciate music right, rather than see and appreciate it. So, as long as
there is a cd released, it is a treat for us.

For these reasons, i look forward to Benegal-ARR combo, as much as i wait for a
ARR-Gowariker or ARR-Maniratnam or ARR-Deepa Mehta or ARR-Rajeev Menon Combo.
because these, never disappointed us.

Regards
Kamal Aakarsh Vishnubhotla.

[arr] ARR Should use Illayaraja for one of his compositions

[arr] Slumdog ranks as one of the best films of 2008

2008-10-28 Thread Gopal Srinivasan
"set to the evocative rhythms of
A.R. Rahman’s score and the propulsive beat of the hip-hop-infused
soundtrack. "

Slumdog ranks as one of the best films of 2008
With Slumdog Millionaire,
English director Danny Boyle travels far afield of his home patch, all
the way to India. Applying the same intricate detail and heady
atmosphere he once lavished on Edinburgh’s junkies in his breakthrough
film Trainspotting, Boyle focuses on a teenager born in
Mumbai’s wretched slums who becomes an instant celebrity when he
appears on the Indian edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The kinetic,
visually arresting drama, touching, sometimes funny and
often horrifying, marks a new high in Boyle’s career as he explores
India’s political, economic and social framework through the prism of a
coming-of-age story. The buoyant Hindi-language saga looks like a sure
bet for arthouse success and may well expand its reach beyond that
modest range with good word of mouth and awards buzz.

When 18-year-old Jamal (Dev Patel) appears on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?,
everyone expects him lose during the show’s earliest rounds. A
“slumdog” born in Mumbai when it was still Bombay, he has almost no
education and a job as what game show host Prem (Anil Kapoor)
contemptuously refers to as a “coffee wallah,” a boy who delivers
beverages at a telemarketing firm. When the charming, soft-spoken young
man begins a run up the board, it is the ultimate feel-good story,
except to those who suspect him of cheating. A police inspector (Irrfan
Khan) investigating Jamal’s case points out that no one, not even
doctors or lawyers, ever gets very far on the show, yet this slumdog is
well on his way to the ultimate prize of 20 million rupees.

Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy makes brilliant use of the game show format.
The program figures into the drama in a number of ways, but nowhere
more importantly than in the way it allows Jamal’s story to unfold. To
avoid a fraud charge, he must explain to the police how he came to
acquire knowledge that is generally unavailable to someone of his class
and educational level. Each answer relates to some aspect of Jamal’s
life and that of his older brother Salim (Madhur Mittal) and Latika
(Freida Pinto), the girl he has loved since he was seven.

The tale that develops is worthy of at least Dickens, if not Dante,
with these children born into a kind of hell from which their society
offers no real hope for escape. Anti-Muslim rioters destroy their slum.
An orphanage operator turns out to be less than benign. Both Salim, a
born hustler, and Latika move into the orbit of a local mobster, and
away from Jamal. On the surface, Mumbai is changing, brand-new high
rises taking the place of slums, call centers offering new
opportunities to an emerging middle class. But the underclass from
which Jamal emerges remains much the same as it ever was.

Not that Slumdog Millionaire is as dire as all that. Boyle’s tale is shot
through with moments of
grace and unexpected levity. In one lively sequence, Jamal and Salim
lam out of Mumbai, disembarking at the Taj Mahal, where they learn to
hustle tourists in a scammers’ paradise. The movie is also ultimately a
romance, as Jamal remains doggedly devoted to Latika even through long
stretches where she is wholly absent from his life.

In another filmmaker’s hands, this could have been the stuff of turgid
melodrama, the story’s contrivances laid bare. But Boyle directs with
such exuberance that his energy lifts the movie. Slumdog Millionaire is a
colorful, fast-paced affair as cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle
captures India’s vibrancy with a camera that constantly roves Mumbai’s
teeming streets or hovers overhead, capturing the country’s eye-popping
colors. Boyle’s storytelling is economical; a tale with the sweep of an
epic comes in at exactly two hours, set to the evocative rhythms of
A.R. Rahman’s score and the propulsive beat of the hip-hop-infused
soundtrack.

Three actors apiece play Jamal, Salim and Latika at various ages, and the
Millions director proves once again just how adept he is in working with
children. Particularly touching is Ayush Mahesh Kedekar, who plays
Jamal at 7, a little boy who retains his sweetness and innocence amidst
the squalor of his existence. On the other end of the spectrum,
18-year-old Harrow native Patel is spectacular as the vulnerable but
determined nearly-adult Jamal who has seen and experienced way too
much, yet remains a romantic at heart.

Boyle’s most ambitious film to date is also his greatest. Simply put, Slumdog
Millionaire in one of the best—if not the best—films of 2008, as teeming with
life as the slums it depicts.

[arr] SdM: "For once, the buzz about the over-hyped movie is right. "

2008-10-28 Thread Gopal Srinivasan
Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle

A-

"Slumdog Millionaire" is not only Danny Boyle's most exciting and
exuberant work since "Trainspotting," a decade ago, it also promises to
become the "movie event" of the season, though not in the usual
box-office way.

For once, the buzz about the over-hyped movie is right. Bearing Boyle's
distinctive sensibility and style, "Slumdog Millionaire" is not only an
accomplished film on any level, it also offers many different
pleasures, achieved with some manipulation but sans condescending to
its East or West audience.

Without much publicity, the film world-premiered at the Telluride Film
Festival, then played at Toronto Fest, in both occasions to great
critical acclaim. Just before these festivals, Warner sold the picture
to Fox Searchlight, reportedly because the studio has too many releases
to handle this year.

Lucky Fox Searchlight: With the right handling and marketing, the aptly
titled "Slumdog Millionaire" could do marvels at the box-office,
generating thrills and frills and also talks among viewers in ways that
most movies do not so much anymore.

Director Danny Boyle collaborates for the first time with screenwriter
Simon Beaufoy, who's also known as the scribe of "The Full Monty," a
box-office hit that was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar in 1997.
Chnage of authors proves beneficial for this sharply-written saga that
pays equal attention to plot, characters, and locale.

In the past, Boyle has worked with writer John Hodge on the
exhilarating drug-infused "Trainspotting," which was nominated for the
Screenplay Oscar and has become a cult item on DVD, as well as on his
bravura feature debut, "Shallow Grave," and the less impressive "A Life
Less Ordinary." Frank Cottrell Boyce wrote he highly touching child
saga "Millions," as well as the zombie horror flick "28 Days Later"
(released by Fox Searchlight to great success).

Set in Mumbai, "Slumdog Millionaire" was adapted to the big screen from
Vikas Swarup's highly respected novel "Q & A," which I have not
read yet. But here is a movie that's not so much about the story or
plot as about the storytelling and directorial approach.

Unlike other British and American directors, most recently Wes Anderson
and his disappointing feature "Darjeeling Limited," who goes overseas
to shoot their picture, but impose on the new landscape their
restrictive paradigms, ethnocentric humor, and idiosyncratic visual
style, Boyle and collaborators benefit immensely from the new locale,
and not just in color and ambience; the characters are grounded and
feel right.

You could say that Boyle's film combines various narrative traditions:
East and West, Bollywood and Hollywood, "Oliver Twist" and other
classic working class sagas about poor children, star-crossed dramas
with music, like Baz Luhrmann's 1992 debut "Strictly Ballroom," and
thrilling adventures like "The Three Musketeers." However, the end
result is not a patchwork of a movie, as you might expect, but one
that's unified by Boyle's unique vision and his trademark visual, sound
and musical flourishes, energizing a narrative that in the hands of
another helmer could have been routine.

Subtitled in Hindi, the story centers on a poor but plucky and
industrious Muslim boy named Jamal (played by Dev Patel as a young
man), who gets a shot at becoming a millionaire on an Indian TV quiz
show that's at once lurid, garish, and exciting. Boyles is good at
delineating the paradoxes of Western culture when it infiltrates Third
world countries such as India or Africa.

The story unfolds as a picaresque adventure of Jamal and his older
sibling, Salim, both products (but not victims) of the lower
socioeconomic echelon, whose mother had died. Struggling just to
survive, Jamal decides to appear on India's version of "Who Wants to Be
a Millionaire," and his winning streak gets him real close to the top
prize, an estimable 25 million rupees.

A romantic, in many ways innocent, Jamal is not motivated by money (or
greed) but love, wishing to win back the heart of Latika (Freida
Pinto), the beautiful girl whom he had known as a boy but had since
disappeared.

Unlike "Darjeeling Limited, "Slumdog Millionaire" is richly dense in
ethnographic detail without appearing the least anthropological or
national geographic-like. You could say that Boyle shapes the
indigenous locale, both physical and cultural, with his

Na sur hai na taal
Par Yuvvraaj benega Blockbuster. Musically aur Film bhi
Toh jaanemann jaan lo ek raaz
Ab padhlo mera Yuvvraaj ka musical review..

So, here we are Yuvvraaj music is out and it's out with a BANG. It's my
most anticipated album, film, and everything related with Bollywood this year.
Did it live up the hype? Was it Rahman at his best? What did the combination of
Ghai-Rahman-Guzar create? Aaja mein haawaon pe bitha kar le chalo. Tu hi to
meri dost hain...

The musical journey starts with Main Hoon Yuvvraaj, which isn't a song, but a
vocal by the man Salman himself. It seemed that he was frustrated that his gf
thought he was a nikamba So, he was pumping himself all over. The
Beethoven matched Sallu's vocal and overall the thing was well-created.

Tu Hi Meri Dost Hai makes its grand display. It's the 1st song, and we've heard
the song already over and over again. It starts brilliantly and carries on. The
intro music is just smashing. The change of composition before the vocals is so
grand. The pace changes throughout the song, and that's what makes even more
appealing. It tells a story throughout the music and I think the movie displays
changes of sequences though the song. It's a loving composition and my 2nd
favorite song of the album. It's just beautiful Benny Dayal is superb and
Shreya Ghosal is her regular beauty. 3/4

Next up is Shano Shano. And, the initial beats are just rocking. It's
interesting to see what Gulzar delivers here because is this "rock-n-roll" type
of songs. Shano Shano made me all energetic when listening. It has the groove,
the mastee, and the smashing composition of Rahman. The start of the vocals
shifts the song into another tone, and it mixes typical Bollywood romantic
songs with the Rahman groove and roll. This is unique stuff by Rahman and
that's what he always does. When was the last time you heard such a song?
Never. Rahman experiments and delivers big time here. I'm already in love with
this song. 1/2

The pace changes when we come to Tu Muskura, which brings Alka Yagnik - the
Bollywood soul of romance together with Javed Ali. It's an emotional song,
which one would feel during those times of emotional crisis. I think this one
is picturized on Katz and Sallu. Alka Yagnik always excels in these kinds of
songs, and it's interesting to see Rahman come up with a slow and emotional
Bollywood song. The beats amidst the vocals takes in bits and pieces from all
the songs of the album. And, it's more of a story-telling type of song. You
know, you'd hear these songs in plays and dramas at theatres when two
characters portray their feelings through slow and simple songs. It's probably
the weakest song of the album, but that is definitely not taking anything away
from the song. ***

Mastam Mastam is next in line and it reminds me Rang De Basanti at times. It's
a song friends and closed-ones sing together recalling their emotional and
fascinating journey. It demonstrates motivation, and for me personally, it took
me back to the 90s and back down memory lane. The pace changes frequently with
this one - sometimes we are in the slow mode, then it goes to this epic feel,
then the urban flavor strikes. The song is casual, but trademark Rahman here.
Come on, Rahman could have composed a song with mixed flavors and delivered a
completely converse flavor, which is kinda nostalgic. I wasn't too into it
during the 1st, but it caught me and got me thing as it went. It looks like a
play song again featuring all the characters and telling a heartfelt thank you.
*** 3/4

Srinivas and Rahman team up for this solo song, Zindagi and as it starts - you
get to feel the sadness in Srinivas's words. This is a song of a helpless man
in love and out of love. It reminds you of your spouse/fiancé. Zindagi is a
heartfelt song and Rahman's composition is trademark here. This is the
uniqueness and randomness Rahman brings in compositions that could have been
ordinary. The lyric is top-notch here. In fact, I haven't gone deep into lyrics
and all in the previous songs, but I'll have to say - it's really good and
meaningful. It's exactly what it's supposed to be. The lyrics of Shano Shano
could have been more creative, but it's Gulzar and Rahman and Ghai, so these
men know their stuff. Anyway, back to the song, Zindagi takes you to this state
of mind of this lover. Srinivas smashes it with his emotion tone. Slow, but
beautiful composition - it's kinda like poetry here. **

Slumdog Millionaire

Danny

Boyle has been one of the most creative and interesting directors of

the last ten years but has gotten very little recognition during that

time period. His films usually do moderately well at the box office and

then develop a bigger fan base when released on DVD. Some of his works

including Trainspotting and 28 Days Later are among the great genre

films in recent years. Sooner or later Boyle was going to have a

masterstroke and he now has it in Slumdog Millionaire.

Jamal

Malik (Dev Patel) is a kid from the slums of Mumbai who happened to

become a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to be a

Millionaire? On the show he answers every questions correctly leading

up to the final question just as the show runs out of time. As he

leaves the studio he is taken by the police on suspicion of cheating.

Jamal explains to the authorities how he knew the answers to all the

questions, describing his life story in the process.

Every

aspect of Slumdog Millionaire is excellent. The story is unique and

crosses multiple genres like drama, comedy, romance and crime allowing

for a wide range of emotions from the audience. There are no actors in

the cast that you will be familiar with but the performances are

exemplary, especially by the children that play a younger Jamal and his

brother.

Personally

I have never seen any Bollywood films but the fact that Boyle was able

to go into India and get the cast that he did proves that there is a

lot of talent to be unveiled there. Perhaps this could lead to us

seeing a more diversified crop of actors in mainstream films going

forward and no Harold and Kumar is not what I am looking for. Anyway

that is a topic for another day.

Anthony

Dod Mantle's wonderfully crisp cinematography should be receiving

technical accolades later this year. He had previously worked on 28

Days Later and The Last King of Scotland. The soundtrack is

outstanding. A.R Rahman orchestrated the score and M.I.A (Paper Planes)

also contributes. Of course Boyle always has fast paced and intense

editing in his films and this one is no exception.

There

have been rumblings that Slumdog Millionaire will be this year's Little

Miss Sunshine or Juno. Interestingly enough all three movies are

distributed by Fox Searchlight which is also releasing The Wrestler

this year and is evidently a brilliantly run company both in terms of

development and promotion.

As

to whether or not it's this year's Little Miss Sunshine or Juno I both

agree and disagree. It will, or should be the film that gets nominated

for awards and that no one saw coming a few months ago. It will not do

as well at the box office as the other two movies because it lacks the

star power. However it is better than both Little Miss Sunshine and

Juno.

If you ask me right now what the best film of 2008 is so far, I would say
Slumdog Millionaire. Final answer.

A+

I wish otherwise.

I was sick to find the lullaby of Bose was trimmed in the film. other
music visuals were also mediocre. Takshak's that song in the park was so
poorly picturised as they were doing in early 70s.

Benegal has no ear for music and he wastes great music of our man.

The lion roars and the roar is deafening. The lion here is none other
than Aamir Khan. The actor, known for enacting a wide variety of roles
in his illustrious career, is ready to traverse into a new territory
with GHAJINI. In fact, every time an Aamir starrer is about to
release, it turns into an event.

The keenly anticipated GHAJINI hit headlines when the producers
revealed the first look of the film -- Aamir's stunning physique --
last week. Right from news channels to newspapers to blogs, Aamir's
look was the topic of discussion within and outside the industry.

Now let's talk of the promo. It's spell-binding, it leaves you
yearning for more, in fact your 'hunger' for the film increases
manifold thanks to this promo. First Aamir's all-new, 8-pack abs catch
your attention. Later, the promo changes dramatically, with a foot
stomping viciously on someone's head, followed by Aamir's eye staring
at you and then, he punches someone so hard, it's unbelievable.

The promo truly lives up to the expectations of the most anticipated
film of the year. Watch out!

Hi guys,

I totally understand and share your excitement about this unplugged

versions. I'm not that selfish to keep these musical gems of Rahman

to myself, that is why I share. Although, you have to understand that

my decision to not share something like "Khwaja-unplugged" in its

entirety stems from multiple other reasons and issues beyond my control.

Someone close to Rahman has expressed to me that Rahman doesn't really

like us ripping bits from DVDs and sharing with everyone. There are

legal, copyright and other issues involved there, along with the fact

that his hard work easily becomes available to all these copycats that

use his music in TV serials and even some movies. Plus, Rahman

doesn't solely own the rights of his music, I believe the producer

owns the partial rights, if not all rights. I guess what I'm trying to

get to is that sometimes we love someone so much that we end up

hurting them without intending it. Rahman opposes remixes, especially

remixing of his songs(without this consent). Imagine, if something

like Khwaja's vocals were out in the public domain, it could spur

remixes. A DJ or someone who wants to remix tries hard to eliminate

or isolate the voices in the song. Therefore, finding just the vocals

of a song is like a dream come true for the remixer. If I was to

shared the complete version of Khwaja, it would be available in the

public domain for anyone to use. They can try infinite number of

beats and templates on Khwaja. They don't need Rahman, they will have

his original singing and would simply need to add beats. Now, all

this may sound far fetched, but we have to recognize the possibility

of this occuring. One of the BGMs I extracted had ended up on a Radio

channel. After that I had decided to limit my BGMs and other work. I

do not want to be an accomplice to copycats and certainly do not want

to hurt Rahman.

Imagine the dedication, passion and divinity Rahman has put in Khwaja.

And also imagine the layers of music and hours or days of hard work

gone into making the music and beats etc. of Khwaja. And then imagine

how well it's come out and how well it's layered. The vocals of

Rahman are supposed to be hidden in the layers, never to be extracted

the way I have extracted them. As I have expressed before, my talent

or whatever you want to call it is an accident. I wish I had never

discovered this accident. But now I know how to do it and I love it,

but imagine my dilemma, I can not share it. But I can not resist

sharing a small part of it. That way I feel I'm doing justice to

both Rahman and the fellow Rahmaniacs.

Bottom line, we all love Rahman and do not want to hurt him. Sharing

Khwaja - unplugged - complete version will be like hurting Rahman.

I hope I have explained some of the reasons behind my decision. I

hope you understand the reasons and see the logic behind those. And

if you don't agree with me then, I certainly hope you are able to

forgive me.

Although my methods are different, there are other simpler ways of

extracting vocals which are already being discussed on the group.

Sooner or later someone is going to post these unplugged versions

online. I personally do not want to be that person. Now, I am not

saying everyone should stop sharing BGMs and other musical bits. One

can never dictate what other people can do or not do. Therefore, all

we can do is... do what we think is RIGHT because at the end of it we

are all responsible for our own individual actions and not those of

others.

With that said, I'm really looking forward to Yuvvraaj and Slumdog
