Since the Awards are only for European Artists, ARR is not there. Slumdog Millionaire has not yet finished its victorious run at award ceremonies as the Mumbai-based potboiler has picked up five nods at the 2009 European Film Awards. Re: [arr] which DAW you use?
Hi, Pro Level Digidesign protools is great for both recording and mixing and in the recent versions mastering can also be performed well with few additional plugins. Stein berg Nuendo is also an alternate less expensive option but Pro tools is THE BEST. For recording and mixing Logic audio the recent studio edition is also a very good product, the one best option available in this the musical sheet where u can write your music notes direclty without playing/play a music and the notation is automatically created. you can do most of the work that you do with Pro tools but pro tools stands first because of their dedicated hardware without that the software wont function. Ableton live/Suite is another software which is extensively used on live performaces as they are famous for easy usage . I ve worked on most of the softwares listed and and i recomend Protools and for ppl who cant afford for the hardware can go for Nuendo. Just a note about other softwares Reason is a digital studio setup - you can virtually use most of the studio equipments like Mixing console, effects processor, etc Cubase - This is one of the best softwares for MIDI works, You can connct your keyboard to this via Midi port and use many music samples available so that just with the keyboard as midi controller u can create great tunes with this samples. There are lots more i hav just given a brief intro if more anyone needs more info please feel free to mail me. I agree with HARI's points. Even if Rahman is not directly involved in the event organisation, being a person on whose name the entire event is staged, he should be made aware of the feedback of the audience / fans. And if the situation is beyond his control, I guess, he should not continue with the present setup and go solo. To be honest, the audience / fans come to listen / see ARR and ARR alone. atleast that's what I and my family did in the Pune concert. If Rahman decides to do simple 1-2 hour impromptu unplugged sessions with chosen few artists and a simple orchestra, no fireworks, no dancing puppets and songs which he and he alone wants to perform, I think that programme will be a stupendous success and will not be a logistical nightmare for any event organiser. And who can know the true worth of GURUJI than his own disciples, the rahmaniacs ? So if Rahman starts a new trend of organising shows with local band or artists / musicians from his fan group, I would wholeheartedly support such a venture. This group has huge talent pool of musicians / singers / sound engineers / remix specialists amongst us, why do we require outsiders ? [arr] I produced the Pray For Me Brother track with Rahman - Mikey McCleary
Lucky Ali's brother-in-law Mikey McCleary (40) is making his Bollywood debut. Born in India but settled in New Zealand, Mikey has given the music to five out of seven songs in Aftab Shivdasani's Aao Wish Karein. A trained musician, he has studied music after high school and was also part of an orchestra. Mikey studied music after high school at the Wellington Conservatorium of Music and later the Victoria University in New Zealand. Later, he moved to London where he produced and recorded tracks for orchestras and independent artists at the Trident Studio. After his sister got married to Lucky, Mikey got a chance to work with him on his first album. He just knocked on my door and introduced himself as my new brother-in-law. He was in London to do some work on his album but it wasn't going anywhere. So I suggested why doesn't he record some song with me in the studio and that's how Sunoh happened. About his foray into Bollywood, Mikey says, I had worked on an old song called Sabke Peeche Hum Khade, along with my friend Ankur Tiwari. When Aftab met me, he told he about this film he was doing and wanted me to work with him. So I ended up doing five songs for Aao Wish Karein. In the past, McCleary has also assisted and worked with the likes of AR Rahman and Salim-Suleiman. I produced the Pray For Me Brother track with Rahman and then assisted Salim-Suleiman on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Despite having a house in New Zealand, Mikey now plans to move to Mumbai for a long haul. I recently got a work permit to reside in as well as pursue my career in India. So I am waiting for the film to release and then take on more work. -- regards, Vithur

After the show started I was simply hoping anyone of the organisers would come and stand amidst the crowd and get to know how low the volume was. Midway through the show the volume improved but the system was nothing to boast of. * ARR thanked the musicians at the end of the show..nice.. Wouldnt it be be good to see the musicians who play the songs onstage? Atleast on video screen? It was always the dancers and singers on stage. Agree this is a more general one applicable to many of the televised music programmes - For the DD 50 years Delhi show, Stephen was introduced as the keyboardist but after that there was no sight of him. All this for the richest cricketing body in the world. Now coming back to the AR Rahman show, the organisers are purely cashing in on AR Rahman's market to make money. Rapport Global thinks that if the Stage and the SOund is good(sound has always had a problem, since the my first show in 2004) then they are world class. Its just a plug-in-plug- out stage and organiser needs to understand that stage alone does not determine if the show is world class. I have a few questions proping up in my mind. (1) For a Brand like Rahman why do you need to coloborate with MARG to donate funds for AR Rahman foundation and Sakhti Foundation. Even if Rahman had done the show directly for Shakthi, the money would have come. Was collaborating with MARG so essential, taking 50K odd people for a 12 hour pacakage(total time to travel to-and-fro). (2) People pay money for the event that is promised. Not to see MARG advertising it self to 50K tired people(remember we are told no water bottles allowed but later everybody seemed to have one and people like me who adhere to ruled were idiots). When the program was promised to start at 6:30 PM why dint they start atleast after the MARG PR excercise. From 7:00 to 7:25 people were sitting like idiots. Tired and Hungry. (3) Extremely unproffessional not to have a Anchor for a show of this magnitude. Imagine 50 K people waiting and there is no show anchor, no introduction to songs, singers. Shocking. Most of the Junta dint know that AR was singing Fiqrana or what. Please organise more professionally. Introduce singers and Pieces. Treat the audience with respect. (4) The way back was another chaos with buses waiting in queque to leave the areana. The wait was for more than an hour. People sitting on the floor of the bus and what not. I reached home at 3 AM. Can't See a good reason why only MARG could do this. (5) The barricades dont work!!! I paid for my ticket but I sat or rather stood with people who dont seem to have paid or many of the people with 300 hundred rupee tickets landed in this part of the arena. The screens were not clear at all. That for the arrangments, to the music part. This sequence of songs has already been heard t the Times of India launch in Chennai Last year. The Jaage hain start and move to Khal Bali. Unless you have a fresher approach what was the need to do the same thing again. If Rahman wants to mix songs and does not want the language to be barrier that

[arr] AR Rahman's salute to Jacko
http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainment/report_ar-rahman-s-salute-to-jacko_1309812 Mumbai: Double Oscar-winner AR Rahman is so inspired by Michael Jackson's music that he is set to include the compositions of the iconic pop star as a subject at his music school, the KM Music Conservatory in Chennai. Rahman will also don the hat of a lecturer for this course, giving the first lecture on Jackson, his life and times, and how it influenced his own music. The composer adds: Michael is an institution in his own right. His work is vast in variation and quantity. He showed his expertise in genres like RB, Pop, Soul. We are looking at teaching our student various genres of music and also about music that left an impression on the minds and hearts of generations. Michael undoubtedly is one of them. Personally, it will be a matter of pride to talk to my students about Michael's music. I have enjoyed his music for years now and I've been grieved by his untimely demise.I have been inspired by Michael and his works for years now. I had met him and though he was such a big star, he was always a very humble human being. That really touched and inspired me. I think he was an inspiration for an entire generation. His music must have influenced countless musicians across the world and it would be an honour for me to have the students of my music school learn and discuss the artist of the century, Rahman told DNA. Rahman also goes on to say that Michael's sudden death has taught him a big lesson of life. Michael Jackson was living a life which many like me can only dream of. He was a legend and did not have to hanker for the spotlight. Despite him having everything, he died in a second. It has taught me the greatest lessonabout how life truly is. You can have everything but all those things might not be of any use, he says. Rahman adds: I have realised that the spotlight might be on me now because I have won awards and am doing some good work. I have to make sure that all this attention does not blind me from looking inside, and my family. I can't let the spotlight take control of my mind because the day I don't work well, all this will also go in a second.
