Thanks for sharing this bro, you made my day.
I consider 'Kannathil Muthamittal' among Mani's 3 best films ever.
I consider 'Vellai Pookal' as ARR's best song ever and also best I ever heard
in the whole world.
I consider the title song (mother and daughter)as the best picturised song
ever, thanks to Ravi Chandran.

All this, when I don't understand Tamil, imagine if I did understand Tamil.

I dont think Blaaze is overused at all ... He is missing in Jodha akbar , Water
, Raavan etc etc ...where any rap part is totally unnecessary !!

but i do think ...he should use/try an diff rapper ... Hard kaur or Kardinal
official would an amazing choice i think !!

and Blaaze and Shruti hassan hadnt done any damage to the tamil anthem as far
as i think !!! That rap part added another genre to the song !!

[arr] Re: ARR needs to reduce western inflence & Blaaze

2010-05-23 Thread jayram
I do agree that the RAP words pronounced in the Tamil anthem song was quite
confusing and misleading.

For a long time I was trying to decipher who were the poets being refered in
the RAP portion.

The first poet's name was very clear (Shri Kambar: his tamil version of ramayan
has mind blowing clarity and considered a masterpiece).

The second poet's name was pronounced something like Vai Nallaalum. I promise I
do not know any one with the name Vai Nallaal. Only after seeing the lyrics
released somewhere in the web, I came to know that the second person was "AvVai
Nallal" (AvVai was among one of the first women tamil poet).

Anyway, the RAP portion's music, tune and lyrics was mind-blowing, but it was
sad to find that the pronunciation in the RAP portion was misleading.

Re: [arr] VTV Hindi remake

2010-05-23 Thread Nidhin
Hi Kishore,
I read your earlier post that Gautham Menon's assistant told that there
were no hindi VTV or Kaakha Kaakha:

"By the way, VTV HINDI REMAKE news is just a rumour. I spoke to Gautham's
assistant recently. It is not going to happen! Kaakha Kaakha remake with John
Abraham is also a rumour!"

But on may 11th, harris jayaraj tweeted that he has come back from
composing session of hindi Kaakha Kaakha(Directed by Nishikant Kamath and
produced by Vipul Shah).
Gautham Menon's assistant would have probably meant that Gautham won't be
directing those films.

Re: [arr] ARR needs to reduce western inflence & Blaaze

2010-05-23 Thread Pradeepan
Is Violin a part of Carnatic Music ? YES.
Isn't it an instrument from the West ? YES.

So there you go, Why should Tamil Anthem not have all other influences ?
After all , India as a population demographically & culturally has been
absorbing & spilling so much.
Why restrict Music...

[arr] Video of first 'CNN Talk Asia' Interview

Does anyone have the video of CNN Talk Asia's first interview with
Rahman sir?
I mean the interview he gave years before. Parts of that interview is
seen in this video at 0:44, 2:05 and 2:37.

Is the uploader a member of this group?

Your reply simply shows the reason why Blaaze was there in the song. This song
is made to reach a real wide audience and also I believe AR didn't want this
song to be restricted to just Indian sound. Tamil is not just limited to India
but used around the world...

I think ARR needs to use less of blaaze from here on, bcos he has been over

which has become annoying.

Re: [arr] VTV Hindi remake

2010-05-23 Thread Nidhin
Hi Kishore,
I read your earlier post saying that there were no hindi VTV or Kaakha
Kaakha as per the information given by Gautham Menon's assistant:

"By the way, VTV HINDI REMAKE news is just a rumour. I spoke to Gautham's
assistant recently. It is not going to happen! Kaakha Kaakha remake with John
Abraham is also a rumour!"

But on may 11th, harris jayaraj tweeted that he has come back from the
composing session of hindi Kaakha Kaakha(Directed by Nishikant Kamath and
produced by Vipul Shah).
Gautham Menon's assistant would have probably meant that Gautham won't be
directing those films.

2010-05-23 Thread || V i s h w e s h ||
Gops, is there any way, we can get a higher quality version of The Banyan Theme?

Available version on Youtube is a TV rip & really, it doesn't do any justice to
this haunting composition... we really need a HQ version of this. Like just
last week they released Semmozhi directly through AR's official website, which
was HQ 320kbps mp3.

Is it possible?

Gops, is there any way, we can get a higher quality version of The Banyan
Theme?

Available version on Youtube is a TV rip & really, it doesn't do any justice to
this haunting composition. .. we really need a HQ version of this. Like just
last week they released Semmozhi directly through AR's official website, which
was HQ 320kbps mp3.

Is it possible?

Yes, it is quiet good, but I'm talking about HQ audio version and audio in that
vid is 22050Hz Mono 64kbps! Which is no way good enough for any AR composition!

2010-05-23 Thread A.R.Rajib
*Ritu Beri to design Rahman's wardrobe for Jai Ho concert*
Indo-Asian News Service

 | A+A-

Well-known designer Ritu Beri has been roped in to style the wardrobe for
musician A.R. Rahman and his entire troupe for the Jai Ho concert. Beri
finds this job challenging and says it is like "doing five couture shows,
all in one".

"The clothes are a theatrical experience that will blend new technologies
with traditional elegance. There are over 300 clothes, an amalgamation of
youthful modernity and elaborate Indian dress age," Beri said in a
statement.

"While designing for this tour it was important to keep intact the heritage
and traditions of India and add a new modernity to the presentation."

The show - A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home - starts June 11 in
New York at the Nassau Coliseum and will travel to 20 major cities worldwide
including Los Angeles, Washington, Dallas and London.

"This is like doing five couture shows, all in one. It's been huge and very
challenging. We are presenting a New Age India to the world. Working with a
composer of Rahman's calibre has been very exciting and prestigious. I have
enjoyed creating and designing the costumes not just for Rahman but the
other singers and dancers as well," she said.

The world tour is being produced by Deepak Gattani and Rapport Productions.

[arr] Re: Kannathil Muthamittal – A treat for the eyes and ears

2010-05-23 Thread Rivjot
KM is one of my all time favorite movie. None of my family / relatives watch
Tamil movies and I have forcefully shown this movie to all of them (everytime I
watched along with them), and they all loved this movie like anything.
Meanwhile, I must have seen this movie around 12-15 times.

[arr] Veturi – an epitome of literature

2010-05-23 Thread A.R.Rajib
Veturi – an epitome of literatureIndiaGlitz [Sunday, May 23, 2010]

Not among us today, one of the greatest poets and lyricists ever of Andhra
Pradesh, Veturi Sundarama Murthy Sastry passed away following a cardiac
arrest on 22nd May 2010. He was admitted to the Care Hospital in Hyderbad
where he breathed his last. Veturi is survived by his wife and three sons.
IndiaGlitz conveys sincere condolences to his family.

On 29th January 1936, Veturi Sundarama Murthy was born in a Brahmin family.
After his education, Veturi worked as a journalist in leading Telugu
magazines for 18 years before entering the film scenario to pen songs. His
first break was in K.Vishwanath’s ‘O Seetha Katha’ writing a ‘Harikatha’ in
the form of ‘Bharatha Naari Charithamu…’

Veturi was a river of words. Ever flowing with beautiful words, Veturi
penned more than twelve thousand songs. Known for his love for the Telugu
language, Veturi was a true Telugu patriot. Having won a National Award for
his song ‘Raalipoye Puvva Neeku’ in ‘Maathrudevo Bhava’, he declined to
accept the award as Telugu was not recognized as a classical and ancient
language.

A popular quote says ‘A Man is known by the people he has around’. With a
whole lot of well wishers around, Veturi was not just a man of people he had
but ‘A Man of Words’. Effortlessly penning both melodious songs as well as
mass commercial hits, Veturi connected well with the Telugu audience. Songs
filled with pathos or songs so lively, Vetturi made every word count. ‘Abba
Nee Theeyani Dabba’ from ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’ starring
Chiranjeevi and Sri Devi, a flirty duet between the lead pair, received a
lot of appreciation as the song dealt the love for two in a sensible yet
sensuous way.

Not just the lyricist he was, Veturi was also a poet who wrote beautiful
poems on various topics especially Telugu. His love for the language is
extraordinary and never compromised in the quality of language. His command
over Telugu literature needs no description for his words described what he
was.

*Veturi offered his services for the last time for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Villain’
with music composed by A R Rahman.*

A song is not just for a moment. It conveys what it preceded and what it
succeeds. Songs penned by Veturi had the same essential quality. For such a
great man, the littlest thing that could be offered is a tribute in English.
‘Words are eternal’ quoted by an anonymous person. ‘Veturi is eternal’
always with his songs that will never fade just like the glory of Telugu.

Blaaze sir,

Nice to see you in the group. Still can't forget the 'Endrendrum Punnagai' you
and Shankar sir sang in the TOI concert. Had AR seen you in 2000, that
evergreen song would'Ve been a much bigger hit than what it is right now..

Do post more in the future, sir... God bless..
