Re: [arr] Help about a Tamil song

2010-08-31 Thread Pramod
Hi,

This is not a Tamil song instead, the language is *'Malayalam'*.

Here are the details of the song:

*Song: Karimizhi kuruviye kandeela, nin chirimani chilaboli ketteela.*

*Music Director: Vidyasagar*

*Lyrics: (Late) Girish Puthenchery*
**
*Singers: Prathap Chandran, Sujatha Mohan*

*Movie: Meesha Madhavan (2002)*

Vidyasagar is quite popular a music director here in the south. He had won
the National Award for Best Music Director in 2005 for his score in a
'Telugu' movie named 'Swarabhishekam'.

Read more about him in his wiki page at the followng address:

Warm regards,

Pramod.

You have a very valid point there The Head vs Heart issue might be quite
true..

That is exactly the issue !!!

Most critics acknowledge that the song is exceptional. but they say it
isn't in perfect sync with the CWG...

Alphonse sir.

I'm speechless at this awesome song...

Nice cool, lively and peppy 'Abheri' (hope I am right about the Raga !!!)

The 'Come out and play' has mixed with the song and tune so well like sugar
in milk :)

I just loved that flute (at around 1:41). simply loved it and when
the tabla joined the proceedings (at about 1:48) it became ever so
beautiful.

Outstanding composition sir... excellent work.

Love and regards from Pramod.

Re: [arr] Re: Singers and Their Debut Songs for AR Sir

2010-08-17 Thread Pramod
Good list

But, a cursory look reveals a few opportunities for correction..

1. Mellisaiye from Mr. Romeo was sung by Unni Menon and not by *Srinivas*. I
doubt Srinivas' debut with Rahman sir was Manna Madurai from Minsaara Kanavu
(not sure though)

2. *Sujatha*'s debut was for Deen Isai Maalai and not Roja

3. I have a strong doubt if it were *Khadija Rahman and A R Ameen* who had
crooned along with Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher and Kartick Das Baul on
Takey Takey from Mangal Pandey

4. *K J Yesudas* had sung for all the songs in Yodha, so its difficult to
say that Kunu kune was his debut song with Rahman sir

5. The inimitable *Praveen Mani* in Alaipaayuthey is missing

6. May be we need to revisit on the titles given to the artists !! Not sure
if Palakkad Sreeram can be in the same list as Bade Ghulam Ali saab and
Bombay Jayasree !! Also is Mahathi a real current heart-throb ??
We can work to sanitize the list. good attempt

*I do not think Amit Trivedi is the next A R Rahman (or even in the
making).*

*Frankly, I'm sorry, atleast one of Amit's compositions is yet to really
get into my head and heart. none of them really gave me that feeling of
freshness when I heard Roja and Yodha for the first time*
**
*Remember 1992 ?? When the entire tamil industry thought Ilayaraja is the
final word in Music ?? Then came this amazing young guy called A R Rahman
who re-set the trend in Tamil (later national and now international)
music. That is what we call real 'trend-setting'..*
**
*Amit Trivedi is not a trend-setter. he is just a die-hard fan of ARR
and most importantly, tries to do something like what ARR does ARR never
tried to do anything like what Ilayaraja was doing... *
**
*ARR had (and still) only admired other musicians, his genius and brains
will never allow him to be a die-hard fan of anyone... He doesn't stick
to any form or genere of music and does not allow any one form or person to
stereotype his music.*
**
*Thatz why Amit Trivedi can never be the next A R Rahman..*
**
*The next A R Rahman should roll back this current trend (which is on since
1992 !!) and set another.. Not sure if any of ARR's current
contemporaries can do that.*

[arr] Waiting for another original Malayalm score...........

2010-07-16 Thread Pramod
Now that Puli is relased, the Telugu discography seems growing...

The Malayalam discography features just 2 albums viz. Vaishnavar (some say
this was actually composed by Ouseppachan!!) and Yodha.

Agree that the Malayalam industry is not as rich compared to the
neighbouring industries to afford highly paid artistes, but I so badly wish
that ARR did another original score in Malayalam.
Will this dream come true ?? :-(

Re: [arr] Re: Endhiran sky high expectations

2010-07-16 Thread Pramod
I agree that all of us are eagerly waiting for Endiran; but a word of
caution here

*Expectations reduces joy :-)*
Similar was the case with VTV where expectations rocketed sky high and
people (even fans) came up with comments that VTV was just average. It was
not that VTV was average, but it was just a case of unnecessary
expectations

Lets not expect the Endiran score to be out of this world. Letz just wait
for the album and let the songs slowly melt in

2010-07-03 Thread Pramod
Thanx Reshma and Kishore. I now have got kind of convinced that the
Remanika jingle is by ARR himslef :-)

@ Kishore, it was me who made the mistake by using the term 'Musical' in
the subject !! As you rightly said, a jingle, though a musical composition,
cannot be termed as a 'Musical' :-)

Thank you guys...

[arr] Remanika jingle was it really an A R Rahman musical ??

2010-06-29 Thread Pramod
Hi friends,

With the Remanika jingle being shared and talked about now, I have always
wondered if it was ARR who actually composed it.

I faintly remember to have read in a Malayalam monthly (think it was
'Vanitha') years back that it was Rajeev Menon who had penned the lyrics,
composed the tune, sung, cinematographed and directed the the Remanika
jingle. Rajeev's mother Kalyani Menon had rendered the female voice

Jingles for Leo Coffee, Cinthol etc and also the Asianet theme song, have
that inimitable A R Rahman signature.. Some of them also reminds us of a
few of his later compositions too.

But I do not get that Rahmanish feel in the Remanika jingle...May be
I'm wrong here (because I have it in mind that it is a Rajeev Menon
composition !!!)...

I agree that the prelude bit has some ARR like feel to it.. May be ARR
arranged the recording or helped Rajeev to fine-tune it or something like
that ??? I'm just guessing
So, can someone officially (or quasi-officially !!!) confirm this please ???

@ Farzad..

Thank you for clarifying on the issue. and hope I will receive the T
Shirt soon..

I really loved that design 'I'm a Rahmaniac', which prompted me to place
that order.

I'd almost forgotten the issue, but since someone took this matter up here,
I thought of sharing my experience.

I'm sorry if my words have hurt you...

Re: [arr] ARR T-Shirt --Badly in Need

2010-06-12 Thread Pramod .
Hi everyone,

Some time back, I placed an order for an ARR T Shirt at rahmaniac.com (
http://rahmaniac.com/tshirts - this link returns the 404 error now) and
also transferred the required amount to an account number in Kerala, given
to me by email.

After repeated mails, I got the following reply from one Mr. Farzad Khaleel:

"Pramod,

Sorry for the inconvenience. I will be doing the shipment tomorrow. I wasnt
able to track the payment u sent. May be it took some time to get
transfered.

Thanks and will be updating the tracking number tomorrow."

That was the last email I received from them !!! Not hearing any updates, I
kept writing mails, all in vain..

Sad that people make money in the name of a person who is an embodiment of
god. If you guys want to make money, why misuse ARR's name ???

My humble request to all members and ARR fans is that, please do not get
fooled by these types of T Shirt or other merchandise offers..

Warm regards,

Pramod.
