[arr] Who is rajat dholakia, what was his role in "genda phool" from Dilli 6?
I just saw the track listing and found that he has been credited. I love this song, which to me is one of the top 3 in the album for the way its been mixed. but am really disappointed to see someone else is sharing the honors with ARR. Does anyone have any idea what was his role?

[arr] David Duchvony's stupidity at the Globes
Whatever got into him, he just spoiled the moment for Rahman by correcting his name right after ARR won the award. Probably its the mistake of the writers or there was some pun intended... correcting arr's name as ramoon drunk stupid celebrities!
[arr] Suresh Peters back with ARR?
Its nice to see Suresh Peters in Ghajini credits, he has been on and off on ARR's team. He was doing an awesome job as additional percussion, apart from Sivamani...If you guys have the inlay cards of early movies done by ARR he used to feature in almost all.. at some point i think they stopped working together, until Suresh resurfaced in the credits of Godfather, followed by Sivaji and now Ghajini.. It will be good to see the old group back with ARR, Naveen on Flute, Keith on Bass, Sivamani on Drums, Suresh Peters additional vocals and drums, Selva Ganesh on ghatam / Ganjira, Kumaresh on violin...
[arr] Dil Ka Rishta - cud he have mixed it diff?
I like this song, but would have loved it if ARR had mixed it with more of the english interludes, than the string arrangement..somehow the string arrangement with the alaap chorus doesnt gel with the song. if u try replacing that part with the english interludes and listen to the song, it takes you to new levels..

[arr] Jathi Raja - A R Rahman
It was interesting to see ARR give Chinmayi another name Indai Haza. This is not the first time he has pulled the trick on listeners. He did the same for himself back in Thiruda Thiruda days, called himself Jathi Raja for the Jathi part he sang in 'Thee Thee'. Another song is "Thirupachi Aruvala.." from Taj Mahal, I dont remember seeing his name against the song but any good listener can clearly state that the second part of the song has ARR singing few lines. cheers Badrie
[arr] Re: Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?
Rawat am with you on this, but not just this, of late in atleast 1 or 2 songs in each album where i think it sounds like a half-hearted composition. Like you I adore arr for his very diff style in presenting a simple song. But I hate to disappoint, except for the brief intro bit where he sets the temp for Pappu cant dance, the rest is a regular ordinary song. probably Aamir wanted an ordinary song to exemplify the lyrics. Papu is a hit more coz of the lyrics and its indirect take on Salman Khan. I havent hear the Hawa song, atleast I doesnt have a recall value. Probably there are still lots of members in this group yearning for the vintage ARR. But they wont speak out as they fear being bashed by the rest. Am glad am not alone in missing the magic from ARR. Lately its either the lyricists who are letting him down or at times its himself. ARR needs to be inspired to come up with something out of the ordinary.. That is not being done by the new breed of directors, so every now and then we have to wait for Ashutosh, Aamir, Mani or Shankar to get the best. Am sure Ghajini will be good as AAmir will save the best for himself. we will wait.. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, V S Rawat <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I am confused because my 16 years of ARR experience is has deserted me. > > The problem is: I am not able to find Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu Can't > Dance of JTJYN and Hawa, sun Hawa of Ada. > > Pappu got hit like anything and it feels great that our man did a > Muqqala or a hello doctor again. [arr] Re: Sakarakatti: awesome songs, but lyrics a big let down
Since there is a lot going on about Vaali, would like to mention something more on the areas where he let ARR. Munbe Va : I cant forgive him for writing those fillers "Rango.. Rangoli.. kolangal nee pottai.." it was a joke.. if you have a software that could edit the words and listen to the song, munbe va will be in the top league of his all time best. coming back to Marudhani, probably deepali is a character in the movie.. but wasnt there a better way of incorporating that name. A lyricist of Vaali's caliber can do much beter than that. Vaali is a very senior writer and its hard for composers to ask him to rewrite something. I happened to listen to IR's recording for a Fazil' movie. The song if am right is "Kaatril varum geethame... " Vaali is a genius and comes up with impromptu lyrics for the song, but the first version is awful.. Even IR requests vaali in a very subdued tone and tells him "anna, can you change this to something" Am sure ARR has the same challenges too... Vaali is still the best but that doesnt make him right all the time. More than once his lines have been more of a meaningful dialogue than an elegant song. Lets call a spade a spade. I love the songs of S'katti, but it will be a long time before I come to terms with the lyrics. As few others mentioned, we expect high standards from lyricists when they write songs for ARR. Even if its Vaali... --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Aravind AM <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Dude, > > Vaali has written just one song (Marudhaani) for Sakkaraikatti - and it is definitely brilliant and is undoubtedly the best in the album in terms of lyrics The other songs are by Na Muthukumar and Pa.Vijay and IMHO they are nothing great, and only Vaali's lyrics stand out!! > > Vaali rocks!!! [arr] Sakarakatti: awesome songs, but lyrics a big let down
Am sure there are many here who will not agree with me, but this is not against ARR... this is against all those lyricists who let him down. Every tune in S'katti is so different and ARR has consciously given a lot of scope for the lyrics to be heard very well. But I dont think the lyricists have done justice to their part. The fillers in songs like Elay..."mosa mosanu valanthom.." I cant believe they got into the song, what the hell were they thinking. For most songs there is no rhyme in the lyrics...I can respect ARR for giving the lyricists freedom to express themselves, but I think he has to be more stern with them to bring out essence and elegance in songs. Probably the director is at fault too, u dont see this happng in a Mani or Shankar movie. The song Chinnamma is a gem if you can ignore the looong stress on "ummma umma" in one of the lines in between. Once again another lousy filler.. Had to vent out my frustration on the lyricists, they need to learn from veterans like Vaali and V'muthu. badrie

[arr] ARR's Butterfly Jingle resurfaces
I was happy to see the 'Butterfly' Jingle on Sun TV last week. Its been reshot and the music has also been rehashed with lot of instrumentation. The original version by ARR had a haunting voice, lots of String arrangements and Flute in it.. the new one sound like its been heavily synthesized.. Does anyone have the old one??? Gops I see that you are collecting some of his rare memorabilia's of ARR, this shud be a good addition. cheers Badrie
[arr] Is it right to judge the best and worst - Yes it is!
I beg to differ with Madhu or others who believe it is not right to criticize ARRs music. As long as it is constructive criticism even ARR wouldnt mind it. Members of this group should be allowed to voice their thoughts on what could have been done better by ARR to improve a song. Ofcourse its not easy to satisfy the tastebuds of one and all, but ARR has done this nonchalantly. He brought us all together with his music...few wither over a period of time, but not those who still believe that he is a master in his own class. Am one of them who believes in ARRs talent and humility. But that doesnt mean that I will accept all his songs as master class because its by ARR. When ppl say some of his songs are 'bad' what they mean is that it could have been better. Am still an ardent fan of ARR; the ARR of 90s who used to churn out melodies, rhythms and pacy numbers. So many members in this group have written about few albums being disappointing after the initial hearing;I had written about GF too, couple of things which he could have avoided...These are people who are expecting something special from ARR, and when expectations are high its quite natural for ppl to get dissappointed when they hear what they dont want to hear. Am sure there are ppl like me who are waiting for ARR to bring out something pathbreaking like he always used to. He has set a very high standard for himself and his fans, its quite hard for us to accept anything ordinary from ARR. My wait continues...until then I have the company of his brilliant work in the past! [arr] Genuine ARR Fans : Pls listen to Kaatril and Ilamai Remix: again
Hi all Like everyone of u, I was eagerly awaiting the Songs of Godfather...lo behold.. it arrived...but... everything was ok but for few glitches shud i say in few songs... Ilamai Remix : the high tech voice over of Blaaze... he could have retained the original voice of Blaaze. It would have been really great like Paatshala (Remix) from RDB. I was heartbroken to hear such a brilliant song being off the mark. Kaatril : The Oi Shabba, wordings don really sync with the tune of the song.. those of u who have the music editing software try to supress these wordings and see the brilliance in the song. Innisai (extended version) : The African sounds r ok, but the tarzan style woo hoo's are really off the league Am not sure if these sounds are added by ARR or the additional mixing done by the sound engineers. But they should be really careful about wat they add.I think this is the reason y ARR released Innisai in 3 diff versions. I think its mostly to do with the Directors as well; Manirathnam, Shankar, KB and Bharathiraja have extracted the best out of ARR. KSR is also good, but this one...not sure. Im sure not many r gonna agree wid me, but listen to it again you'll know what am saying. So many other fans dont come out and say what they feel, for the fear of being criticized by other die hard fans. Everytime when some of the fans say, they miss the old ARR, I know what they mean. The ARR who could do brilliance with minimum orchestration like Raasathi from Thiruda Thiruda and so many other songs. We are in this group so that we can share our thoughts, appreciate and come up with constructive critism on ARRs music. We should do that without hurting the feelings of others, especially ARR. [arr] So is Suresh Peters and S. Sivakumar back with Rahman?
I checked the agimusic.com link and was suprised to Additional Mixing by Suresh Peters and under sound engineers H. Sridhar (who is a Rehman regular) and S. Sivakumar. Havent seen both their names for a long time in the CD Inlay cards. Its a good sign, Vairamuthu teaming again with ARR and Suresh Peters too. If am right probably the last time Suresh Peters worked with Boss, was in Jeans (Columbus. Though he is a talented musician, Suresh's solo work wasnt too much a success. His last album Shock and his work for few movies were quite disappointing. It will be interesting to see if ARR will also use him for some songs; He can do some stuff with Blaaze who at times can be pretty loud. cheers Explore, Experience, Enjoy A.R.Rahman - The Man, The Music, The Magic. [arr] Bad day for the boss...???
It seems rather emphatic effort by the press to bring ARR under bad light. The raids were conducted in almost every other Top film stars in Chennai, but they decide to put ARRs photos in all the sites. Others who came under the raid included Yuvan Shankar, Vikram, Vijay, Trisha... and the list goes on. Arent they biggies in kollywood, y dont they write more about what happened there? All the major websites, press releases have been dogmatic in singling ARR and splashing his photos with headlines "IT scrutiny". Whats all this bad press all about? He was always their darling when he made waves in music. Just coz he is a popular figure they want his photos visible in the news so that ppl buy their stories. I know the Central Govt is only trying to do their job; and am sure in the next cple of days we will all be enlightened with their calculations and what each star owes. Well before the press start making judgements abt ARR or his earnings, I wud want them to also take into consideration his humanitarian efforts and contributions. He has conducted concerts all over the world and most of the proceeds have been donated to NGOs and Non-Profit Service Organizations. * I dont remember any other music director contributing something towards National Integration with an album like Vande Mataram, Jana Gana Mana * Innumerous concerts in an effort to support NGOs like Banyan * Spirit of Unity Concert series * Anthem to fight TB and not to forget a special status as UN Ambassdor to lead the fight against the disease * Concert for the families who were victims to the Tsunami disaster and his contributions keep going on I was doing some research on the web and it looks like IT Dept is doing this as a relegious act every year around September /October, and all these raids on Film personalities. In 2000 they did the same thing with Bollywood biggies, and now they have turned their attention to the South. I dont know how genuine are their intentions, but in a country filled with plagiarism and corruption, their first target should be politicians and industrial big wigs, then those in the entertainment sector. As ARR fans we can all only hope that he is undeterred by all these bad press and continues to give us all the best in music. Talent cannot be Taxed! Outcries from a loyal fan Badrie Yahoo!
