Vairamuthu is not unpopular, Vairamuthu is totally unknown in cow belt. In fact, some of his lyrics have been more effective for the song situation than the HIndi Lyricists, as acknowledged by ARR himself, I have also heard about his greatness and I crave to listen to his lyrics. I wonder why doesn't he learn 200 words of Hindi to pen at least one Hindi original song for ARR so that we could also feel the greatness he is claimed to have. Maybe, ARR could take some initiative with the the help of bilinguals like Mehboob to give a glimpse of Vairamuthu's magic to Hindi music lovers. Like, Vairamuthu writes original tamil lyrics for a Hindi song of ARR, Mehboob translates it to Hindi, and then reverse translates it to Tamil to explain to Vairamuthu how his poem's various connotations are coming in hindi, depending of which Vairamuth modifies on and on and gives final approval to a Hindi lyrics that he feels conveys what he wished to convey. [arr] Vellai Pookal - did Mani do the proper justice ?
Hi Guys, I just want to share my recent experience with vellai pookkal song from KM, Recently I have set Vellai pookkal song as my caller tune, from that moment onwards so many people are started asking me that which song it is? which movie?, etc, etc... What I realized was so many people don't know that this song is from KM, some people are not believing me when I told the same... two days back my aunty called me over phone, she told me that your caller tune is sooo good and the great thing is she was in some disturbing mood, but after hearing the song she felt ok and she told the song is so soothing and asked me not to pick the call so she could hear it for some time??? Just imagine the power of the song, she was happy by just listening those four lines... From the time I saw the movie KM I always felt that Mani did injustice to this song by keeping it in title card, he just wasted one of the powerful song created by ARR, this song could have been picturised beautifully to reach more people.. The song was made for such a noble cause and couldn't reach the mass.. I am going to keep this song as my caller tune as long as possible... Thanks, Dina.

He did ! In my opinion, Mani did good justice to this song. However, subject of this movie was so serious, the movie probably did not do too well as a ManiRatnam movie should do. I have seen this movie many times on my VCD, but I find many of my Chennai friends are totally at loss when I name this movie. If I can read Mani Ratnam's mind, the idea of using the song at the begining of this movie probably was to show the calm status of life before the cyclone of war. I have a ringtone of this song and use this as alarm sound. Getting up in the morning to this sound is pure bliss.
