[arr] why MPs like waka waka ?

2010-09-01 Thread jayram m.n
I think the MPs like waka waka not because of the song or beat or music. It is
because of shakira.. :) (Maybe it is applicable to most people including me.
:)..)

Jokes apart, CWG theme from ARR is stunning. It needs time to grow and
brilliant video from Bharat Bala to take it to the next level.

[arr] 8+2 points about Endhiran

2010-08-04 Thread jayram m.n
My brief 10 points analysis about Endhiran.. 8 strong points and 2 weak
points...

(1) Vairamuthu... I would give full marks to Vairamuthu's lyrics. Especially
Vairamuthu Sir is at his best in Pudhiya Manitha and Kadhal Anukal. Even
though scientifically they are pretty simple, its a nice attempt to bring
scientific concepts in Tamil lyrics. None of them sounded forced, but it
naturally fitted with the theme of the album. One small change in the Kadhal
Anukal lyrics would have been nice. Instead of saying Neutron Electron Unn
Neela Kannil, I would have written Photon Electron Unn Neela Kannil...

(2) Madan Karki... I should also congratulate Madan Karki's lyrics in Irumbile
Oru Edhyam. I now know what a Robot will sing if it falls in Love. A good debut
for Karki..

(3) Kash n Krissy... First time in Thamizh film music we have a Female Rapper.
Yes. Kash n' Krissy sounded awesome. Their voice sounded quite contemporary and
definitely cool (I liked the way they said supersonic, super star, rapper girl
etc). A welcome inclusion to the tamil music world. Hope they/she comes with
some cool tamil rap albums.

(4) Pudhiya Manitha Its pure genious composition. some interesting elements
in the song are SPB singing both in high and low pitch... minimum sound
manipulation of SPB's voice. Doing it too much, would have spoiled the song.
Doing the sound manipulation too less would have made the song quite boring. I
would say this is the best song of this album...

(5) Khatija... Of course, we have to welcome Khatija Rahman's beautiful words
in the title song. What a debug for her to sing with two legends SPB and
A.R.Rahman...

(6) Javeed Ali... Manytime, when I hear a Thamizh song from a North Indian
singer... my finger automatically goes to the Next button. One exception was
Sahana in Sivaji. But this time, I was quite impressed by Javeed Ali's
pronunciation and singing in the Killimanjaro song. He has great voice, tempo,
energy and importantly he makes the lyrics clear and clean... As a Thamizh
lyrics lover... I was quite pleased. I welcome Javed Ali whole heartedly...
Hoping to hear many more great songs from him...

(7) Chitti Dance Showcase... This showcase piece shows the versatile skills of
ARR in one song. It has classical carnatic, rock, robotica/electronica,
symphony/orchestral sound. Everything was seemless..  Great masterpiece for the
sound and creativity in this piece

(8) A.R.Rahman... No other music director can balance the album pulled from so
many sides. I especially admired him for singing the most difficult song..
Irumbile Oru Edhayam... Also the Kilimanjaro song has great beats and
improvisation. Hats off sir...

Few weak points...

(9) Arima arima... I felt that the tune was normal.. The orchestra and the
background instruments were quite outstanding... But the tune was very simple
and forgetable. (No offense to rahmaniac's who like this piece a lot...)

(10) Pure commercial album for the mass. All songs made mainly for the film and
to satisfy the director.

Overall, all songs are going to be stunning to watch in full screen..  A.R.R
sir accomplished his goal for this album.

Jai Ho,
Jayram

[arr] ARR's Music uplifts and unites humanity

2010-05-20 Thread jayram m.n
As I was listening to the World Tamil Conference theme music by A.R.Rahman.

Suddenly it struck me that ARR Sir has been contributing immensely for uniting
people by means of music.

Here the lists goes:
(1) Vande Mataram (1997) - songs that talks about peace, freedom and love
(2) Jana Gana Mana (2000) - songs by eminent vocalists and instrumentalist
across India
(3) Pray for me Brother - UN Anthem for poverty eradication
(4) Tamil semmozhi theme (2010) - songs by carnatic, film music and rap music
artist portraying the beauty and amazing contribution of  tamil language
towards world literature
(5) Swarnim Gujarat song - A patriotic song to unite Gujariti people ARRahman
(6) Taj Mahal Ek Mohabhat (2007) - Theme song on love for world list of wonder.

Each song leaves deep impact on the people who listen to these song. I am sure
after listening to these songs everyone will see a small change (unknowingly)
in their attitude towards other religion, other language or other art form.

These days, I get lots of goose bumps when listening to Tamil Semmozhi theme
song. Especially when the song switches from one type of music genre to another
music type. For example (1) When P.Susela mam starts humming (2) When ARR sings
Semmozhiana (3) When Blaaze starts his folk+rap part of the song (4) When
T.M.Krishna starts his carnatic portion by singing agam endrum puram endrum
(5) When Shruthi Hassan starts the modern version of Semmozhi (her voice and
humming in this song was truly superb).  I can confidently say no other music
director other than ARR Sir can mix these different genres of music so
seamlessly without making a mess. Hats-off to him for this truly beautiful
piece. I really wish ARR sir release an expanded version as an album  so that
one can enjoy each artists performance in detail.

Overall, ARR sir is truly an musical ambassador for peace and freedom across
the world.

His work inspires everyone to think and see how one can contribute by their
talent to the humanity.

Jai Ho,
Jayram

[arr] Review of VTV Lyrics (Average). What's your opinion ???

2010-03-15 Thread jayram m.n
I admire and enjoy some of the good songs written by Thamarai. She has given
some memorable pieces like Suttum Velli Sudarey from Ghagni, Kangal irandal
from Subramanyapuram and so many others. The list is pretty long.

But  my overall impression is that the lyrics in VTV was kind of average lyrics
(or below average).

(1) Hosanna  and Ommna Penne - Both these songs can be remembered without any
lyrics, because of the catchy tune, main tag-word selected for the songs.
(2) Vinnaithaandi varuvaya and Manipaaya - Better lyrics with good flow of
words in both these songs. Definitely promising.
(3) Anbil Avan : Okay lyrics (most of the lyrics consists of rehashed marriage
oaths which is a cool idea).
(4) Kannukul Kannai : Sounds more like a dialogue rather than a poem.
(4) Since I don't understand Malayalam, I cannot say much about Aromale lyrics.
But from the translation that appeared in this forum, the lyrics sounds quite
impressive and imaginative.

She has definitely struggled to write the songs for VTV. Perhaps she needs to
work more with ARR Sir to understand his style of composition and tunes to give
much better lyrics.

Sorry for being little bit harsh with my review, but I expect more memorable
lyrics Thamarai (especially with ARR Sir).
