Dude, I spoke wid few rajinifans.They are liking the movie.And about the figures, 1.7 crores I guess it should be more.According to reports, 6 lakh tickets were sold on advance booking on day 1 for chennai.The price of tickets even if u take on average 50 Rs / ticket its 3 crores. But Almost all the theatres sold it for Rs 100 Which means , they have got back 6 crores on advance booking alone for CHENNAI. Yes , as u say movie is been said as above average though not excellent and could have been taken better by SHANKAR.I have seen the movie and the truth is It was pretty Good.Songs and Picturisations were EXTRAORDINARY and BGM was OUTTA THE WORLD.But the Negative parts of the movie was, It wasnt FEROCIOUS as BASHA, rajini could have been showed in a more powerful way.Except for the climax other scenes were very light and no proper punch dialogue.Its my personal opinion. But here Arr's use of western harmony is great in the middle without the influence of tabla beat at that section. I was 9 years old then.Your dad was a composer. After he died, how did u continue to be in the field? I had no other go. We rented out the instruments to make our living. MIDI brought in interest to me. Initially, I was very much in to the tehcnological aspect - coz I was learning it. This is similar to what happens when you buy a new cell-phone. You read the manual to know all its features. But, with time, you know all the tech features, and they become a part of your life - You dont need your manual anymore. Similarly, the separation between technical aspect and the musical aspect started vanishing within 2 years... it all merged together. I had learnt the tech aspects, and started concentrating more on the musical aspects. The technical aspects were surpassed and I started going into the creation of the sound. It was a evolutionary process - from 1984-1988.While doing Roja, this merger (between tech and music) reached completion. The next question was, will this tech music have soul?That's where the spirituality comes in. I got the answer to this question in 1990 when I built my studio. Only with blessings from God will we get music. Otherwise we will get only noise. How did keyboard player ARR become MD ARR? Where did this path start?All this started with the construction of my own studio - Panchathan. My Guru Karimulla Shakad Ali (***not sure of the name***) inaugurated the studio and blessed me. He said, this is a new beginning. Whatever you do here will be successful. This was very important for me and my family. This gave me a new confidence. Plus, my unnecessary habits stopped. I also stopped playing for others. I started focussing on my own music, commercials. At that time, I started realising that there is a new path - there's something else than what was happening then. Hi all rahmanic's (Bit long one but kindly have a glimpse) the comparison of ARR SRT is really good one,expcet a few. .like successor "ARR: His successors like Yuvan Shankar Raja and Himesh Reshammiya are more successful than him right now" guy's still ARR making is record in audio sales and when it's come's to hi budget or hi5 movies (sivaji) both in tamil or hindi , the only person who demanded for music is ARR (any comparmise on that). if you say that YSR or Him Rsh is successful now y they aren't getting some classic hi5 productions. it is not very easy to offord ARR like others. can someone answer this ...? y can't YSR get some hindi movies..?
