Vithur,

I watched "Daud" three times in Devi complex just for ARR... Awesome
songs and BGMs

I was one of those repeated audiences of the flopped movies at BO that
was composed by ARR... just for his great songs and BGMs.

En Swasa Kaatre - 3 times

Dil Se - 4 times

Daud - 3 times

Iruvar - 3 times

I suggest we can do the same thing under AR Rahman Foundation. There is

Gopal, When i was going through the old messages in this group, i came
across the collection that you did for ARR Foundation and gave him the
cheque on his birthday. Why didn't you continue that? Did you do that
just for one year? Any reason for dropping that idea?

[arr] Re: " DONT ABUSE MUSICIANS AND MUSIC" - ARR - Request to Moderators

2009-03-01 Thread sath.murthy

I agree on this message from ARR.

But, as far as to my knowlegdge the members of this group or any ARR
fans mostly don't indulge in abusing others MD's music. We even
criticize / analyze our own ARR's music. We do the same in others music
too, but i strongly believe that we never abused anyone.

I am being one of those hardcore ARR fan from his Roja days, i always
told my friends never to compare between ARR and IR. They are totally in
two different genres and set two different trends. If IR took the tamil
music into each and every corner of Tamilnadu, ARR took his music to
each and every corner of India first, now he is taking it to all over
the world.

I really don't know whether ARR read any of those abusing messages from
this forum or heard from anyone. Hopefully Vijay or Gopal can explain
ARR that we never encouraged the abuses in this great yahoogroup.

2009-02-28 Thread sath.murthy

Jai Ho Choreographer Longines wins a filmfare for JTYJN. He was the one
that got mentioned by Danny Boyle in his Oscar acceptance speech. Danny
said that he missed Longines name on the film credits and it was so nice
to see the director to apologize for that . He called himself a Stupid:)

2009-02-28 Thread sath.murthy

Have anyone of you seen A Wednesday? is there any scope for songs? From
what i see, the movie is like a thriller and wont have scope for songs,
but will have great scope for BGMs.

I guess it will be by ARR, if this movie's time has been replaced by
Marmayogi...

whatever he does is so good. Selecting a few good ones as his best is
something like ‘searching for a needle in a stack of
needles’, to borrow a line from Saving Private Ryan. Initially,
the intention was to make a list of Rahman’s top 10, but it ended
up in 15 and could well have gone up to 25 had it not been for some
ruthless decisions, which could be taken only by one with a strong
heart. So, here are the top 15 albums, not necessarily his best musical
scores, but landmark albums that have helped build ‘brand
Rahman’ into the global phenomenon that he is now.

theaters. Rahman understood the requirements and delivered a score which
one would not describe as classy but instantly likeable and popular. An
‘Athiradee’ album, which set unseen records in audio sales
in the recent times.

in handling rural themes did help a lot. This again went on to prove the
critics that Rahman is good at folk tunes too.

‘Thanga thaamarai magale’ are proof enough of his

2009-02-21 Thread sath.murthy

I totally agree with you Pavan. He is almost 95% accurate about the BO
status of any hind movie. Taran wrote that Ghajini will break all the
previous BO records and we all saw that it did.

I remember he was wrong on other time.. i guess it was for Mangal Pandey
where he gave almost 4 stars (i think) and said that movie will do good.
but it bombed at the BO.

As i said earlier.. he is very good in analysing the BO performance of
any Hindi movie.

Vithur,

In Junior Vikatan latest issue, i read that VTV is the modified version
of COM. It goes on to say that COM is dropped. Did GM for sure mentioned
that COM will see the light in future. I always thought that COM and VTV
are totally different movies.. as COM has like 4 male leads and 2 female
leads (Trisha and Nikitha). but now this news is totally contradicting.

Can anyone confirm about the status of COM please...

The trend continues. Like most of the times, whenever the music by ARR
becomes such a big blockbuster hit, the movie falters, and it falters
big time. I couldn't believe that Rakeysh also fallen like this with a

ARR composed gems for this movie, but now the film has been declared a

You expressed the same feelings that i get whenever i see a movie ad on

In my days in India, i used to go to tea shop in the morning (while i

As soon as the VTV ads got released i was so sure that it will have

Re: [arr] A.R.Murugadoss to do Ajith's 50th film

2009-02-02 Thread sath.murthy

As we all know that they both created a blockbuster in the boxoffice and
the film broke all the previous bollywood records.

Guzarish, Bekha, Kaise all are wonderful songs. Out of 5 , 3 are great.
what more do we want?

What happened to Sakarakatti, that had great songs but flopped in BO.

ARR had and still having more flops in the BO even though the songs were
beautiful, but failed just because of the narration and screenplay by
the directors. Murugadoss did a perfect screenplay that appealed to the
masses.

Yuvaraaj had some mesmerizing numbers by ARR, but. movie flopped,
songs didn't reach the normal people other than ARR fans like us.

I can go on and on with this kind of list.

Dont worry, pretty soon the same Priyadarshan will remake the SDM movie
in malayalam or in other languages where the SDM was not dubbed or
released.

He is the one who wasted ARR's wonderful compositions in hindi film Doli
Saja Ke Rakna (remake of tamil blockbuster kadaluku mariyathai) before
the same songs were brilliantly used by Praveenkanth in tamil film Jodi
that became an instant hit.

[arr] Re: Surya-Mysskin's 'Mugamudi' by ARR ?

2009-01-22 Thread sath.murthy

That is good combo. Mysskin movies are different. Anjaathey was a
beautiful film.

But the problem is how many songs is he gonna use in Mugamudi. In his
recent movie nandhala he got 5 songs from Illayaraja but used only 2 of
them.

It is very happy to see ARR signing more films with different directors.
I have a feeling since his quickie SDM that became a international hit
had been composed in less than month changed ARR's approach to sign more
movies.

If you need it badly, i can ask them to ship it out to you. I had a the
great collection of ARR's audio cassettes from his first movie Roja till
i came to USA. I hope my parents has all those with them still. I can
check it out and can get all those to you.

[arr] Uyirum Neeye... from Pavithra - Moving song and composition by ARR

2008-12-23 Thread sath.murthy

Hello Friends,

Yesterday on Sun TV's Athiradi Singer program, a guy sung the Uyirum
neeye, Udalum neeye song from the film Pavithra (Rathika, Vineeth,
Nasser Starrer). While the audience were hearing the song, some of them
literally shed tears and the contestent (Srinivas Ragunathan) got a
standing ovation at the end.

I am hearing this song after a very long time WOW.. what a
composition by thalaivar ARR. The lyrics by Vairamuthu, voice by
Unnikrishnan, excellent and mellow music by ARR just takes the song to
the highest level. I was so moved when i heard this song, i stood up
and gave a salute to this masterpiece by ARR.

If i am correct, i also remember the song getting national award either
for lyrics or voice or music.

I love the other "AMMA Songs" composed by ARR like Ennatha Ponnatha in
film Uzhavan, Kalayil thinamum in New, Theeyil vizhuntha thena in
Varalaru.

Just wanted to share my feelings..

Vithur,

How did the FD go on sunday, do you take pictures of those events.. If
so, please post them if you can...Wish i can be a part of those events
too.. Hope to meet the fellow rahmaniacs when i come to India in a few
years time.

C u all soon guys,

in a reputed newspaper like The Hindu. The author is completely
presumptuous in making such preposterous comments. The song Choli ke

The author should have atleast made a wikipedia search before expressing
his opinions about a dignified personality like our boss.

India seems to care about the nominees for the other awards; it seems
enough that A.R. Rahman has been nominated. It is strange though that
Rahman has composed a song, which is a rip-off of the infamous Choli ke
Peeche song from Subhash Ghai's blockbuster Khalnayak. The song by M.I.A
featuring Blaaze sounds like an M.I.A composition, complete with her
trademark rap style. Seeing the credits on the album will sure be

Gomzy,

I seriously think that the private albums are a good option. i also
beleive that all the debut directors those come to ARR thinks that only
his music will make their movie become a hit and they forget about their
work in regards to the story and screenplay, but the other debut
directors who goes to other MD's think that they got to work hard on
their story and screenplay and also they know that the music only gonna
second them.

Hope the Connections album (mentioned in arrahman.com) satisfies all
sincere ARR fans like us and other people too.

Pawan,

Dont u agree that chikku bukku in GM, muqabla in Kadalan, athiradee in
sivaji, alaipayuthey, minsara kanavu, KK songs are the some of the great
experiments that ARR did in those mani, shankar and menon movies? ARR
always experiments in each and every composition of him, that is what
makes all rahmaniacs so happy and excited whenever his album or movie
gets released. I dont think that the big directors tangle ARR, and i
strongly believe each and every director works with him, want ARR to do
lot of experiments in their movie's songs respectively.

Vithur,

Did you get my request for the Gentleman BGM for the palani temple
sequence please?

Waiting for it

Sath.

Vithur,

Do you have BGM of Gentleman? particularly the BGM for the Palani temple
scene where Saranraj tries to catch Arjun, then he ends up shaving his
head. If i remember correctly, that particular BGM has been (re)used in
the starting portion of Manutha Manthaiyela song in movie Kilaku
cheemaiyele..

Hope i am right about this.

[arr] Re: ARR's another hard work wasted in sakkarakatii

2008-09-27 Thread sath.murthy

Sundar,

U r absolutely right, Even when i tell some of my friends, my mom or my
wife that ARR is gonna do music for this film, they immediatly say, it
is gonna be dud in BO. i even end up fighting with them. But deep inside
i also have a fear that the film may bomb at BO. All i am saying is that
ARR should carefully choose his movies based on the story and screenplay
and the directors with great view. as you said, that ARR hit movies list
is very very small when compared to his flops. He should not accept the
movies just becoz that they are big names or some relatives to big
names. Jothikrishna (son of AM Ratnam) and now Kalaprabu (son of Thanu)
are examples to this. they got ARR thru their dads but didnt make use of
his great scores.

I guess, whenever the director or producer get ARR for their movies,
they think that they achieved everything and movie is sure gonna be a
hit just becoz his name is there. that is not right. people will love
his music, but may reject the movie outright if there is no story or
screenplay. i even read in some reivews of SK that the director is
getting booed at the end of the movie. if the director puts half of the
hardwork of what ARR does, the movie will become sure hit.

Dir Ameer recently wondered that why ARR is not doing music for some
low budgeted movies? just think if ARR has done music for recent hits
like Subramaniapuram, paruthi veeran, pattiyal, billa (new). Kangal
erandal song from SP has become a great hit after the film got released
and turned out to be a blockbuster just becoz of its screenplay and
treatment by Dir Sasikumar. People first saw the movie, got hooked up by
its presentation, then they appreciated its music and the song kangal
erandal

When i was driving today, i was listening to the great score of SK on my
truck's CD player, and i couldn't control my disappointment and anger
against dir kalaprabu for not using it to the core.

I watched the movie Enswasa Kaatre for 3 times just for ARR songs and
BGM, even thou it is a dud. i still remember the boos that the movie got
in the theatres. Dir Ravi did this one and Mr. Romeo with ARR. Both of
them bombed at BO on the first day first show.

I still cant't believe how come Dir Bagyaraj, producer Dhanu couldn't
find the flaws of SK when it is being made. I read the first review by
Gops or Vijay saying immediately that the movie will bomb just after
watching it for one time in the premier show. if we have the pulse to
rate the movie is gonna be a hit or dud on the first show, how come the
big guns like bagyaraj, dhanu and even ARR (when he did the BGM)
couldn't identify that.

I hope my friend here will sure understand that i am not saying anything
against our thalaivar ARR, but i m just expressing my views, concerns
and disappointments.

See you all soon

Sath.

If we accept Sridhar, Mahendran, Balumahendra, Balachandar,
Bharathiraja, Maniratnam and Shankar as trendsetters then we shuld
gladly accept Gautam as a trendsetter too. Till date i have never seen a
film in tamil like Kaaka Kaaka. It just belonged there closer to the
Hollywood movies. the camera, music, editing everything was perfect to a
T. Even though the movie had traces of the Hollywood movie Seven (By
David Fincher), KK is still a great movie. Each and everyone of our big
directors get inspired from the hollywood movies.

If Harris Uyirin Uyire got the people to theatres, its Gautam's
screenplay, story, technical aspects made the movie to become a
blockbuster and got the repeated audiences for the film and Gautam also
helped Harris other songs in the movie to become a great hit. that's
what i expect from the directors who work with ARR.

I hope COM can justify that, and also pray deeply that it wont be a
PKMC.

totally disappointed and i feel this been happening a lot lately with

As fans of ARR we will always treasure his songs and BGM's all our life,

[arr] ARR's another hard work wasted in sakkarakatii

2008-09-26 Thread sath.murthy
This has been the nth time that ARR's brilliant score has been wasted by
the directors. i am talking about the sweet cube here
How many times will this happen? ARR spends so much time in creating
such wonderful music and songs, but the movies doesn't match upto it.
ARR should be careful in choosing the movies hereafter, i personally
think he should give much priority to the storyline than the big names
and producers. I guess Harris has few failures compared to ARR so far
because of that.
Each and every review i read so far about the sakarakatti has been bad,
they all agree that only good thing in that movie is the music and BGM.
I couldnt control my disappointment when i read the reviews of the sweet
cube. The movie has been hyped up so much but fell flat on its first
show.
The reviews also say that kadalil vilunthen is far better than SK. Now
Nakka Mukka will overtake Taxi Taxi and Marudhanni just because of their
respective storylines.

Can you guys please throw in some movies name that bombed at the box
office even though they had beautiful music by ARR.
I remember the following:
Kangalal Kaithu Sei
Kadhal Virus
Boys (to an extent)
ATM
Baba
Duet
E20U18
En Swasa kaatre
SOK
Paarthale Paravasam
Rhythm
Tajmahal
Udhaya
Uyire

If you see the above list, it even includes the big stalwarts like
Maniratnam, Shankar, Kathir, Bharathiraja.
I have mentioned only the tamil movies, there is a big list in HINDI
too. Please throw in some names that matches the above category.

Whenever ARR music release i am so happy and when i come to know that
film bombed at the BO because of the story or screenplay, it makes me so
sick.
I couldnt find proper words to let out my disappointment.

Thanks
Sath

Is the current project of Mani with Abhi-Ash has been confused with the

[arr] What happened to Ajith's Kangeyan????????

2008-08-05 Thread sath.murthy

Hi Friends,

I remember that i read an article sometime back regarding a movie of
Ajith after his varalaru was released.

It was supposed to be directed by KS Ravikumar, produced by Nic arts SS
Chakaravarthy. The ad mentioned that ARRahman has been roped in for
music and Vairamuthu for lyrics. it has also been mentioned that Ajith
will do four roles?

Does anyone know what happend to that project???

Maybe either Gops or Vijay can answer this. Hope this is also not one of
those many projects of ARR that got shelved

I googled for it and there was a home page too for this movie. the still
of ajith was rocking.

[arr] Re: Kavignar Vaali's poem on A.R Rahman!! ( This is an Old one... for the benefit of new members )

2008-07-28 Thread sath.murthy

As a coincidence, this poem written by Vaali also starts with letter M
in english and "ma" varisi in tamil.

Muqala, Munbe vaa, munnal munnal vada, marudhani were some of the songs
written by Vaali under ARR's music which were all massive hits. Even
Vaali mentioned in one of his interviews about his sentiment of writing
the songs for ARR starting with letter M, that turned out to be hits.

[arr] Re: Rahman keen on ode to Thirukkural

2008-07-27 Thread sath.murthy

According to Rahman answers to fan's questions in Kumudam, Weekly Tamil
magazine, he is just gonna produce the album based on Thirukural and
not going to do any music.

He also mentioned that Singer Blaaze is going to sing in carnatic base
tamil music, then it is going to be converted into english rap.

The question and answer on the above link confirms that.
