In Vairamuthu Neram in Radio,,, Vairamuthu himself said the following :-


Maniratnam asked Rahman to set the tune of the love song ( Pudhu vellai
Mazhai from ROJA ) to be like that of in Kashmir, and wanted the tune of the
song also to be chilling. Neither me nor A.R. Rahman could understand that.
How can the tune become chilling ?. Maniratnam wanted it to be like , a
chilling type, even when the song is heard. Nothing could be understood.
After hearing to many tunes, finally, he composed a tune in Kanada raga.
That is " Pudhu Vellai Mazhai song tune. When you hear the tune itself, it
would be like that of a chilling nature. The sweeetness of the tune itself
is like that. The uniqueness of the tune is the same. Maniratnam wanted me
to write lyrics which will chill out . Initially, I wrote the lyrics like ,

" Idhu Kashmirama, Ingu Kargalama. Yendhan Kovil Pura, indha kulir
thangumaaa". The song was considered to be excellent. Rahman liked it, and
Maniratnam also praised it. After everyone praised, Maniratnam told, that
for this tune, the lyrics cannot become more better. But, lets not have it
like this. I asked, " Why ?".

Maniratnam replied, " I am going to show Kashmir on the screen. Why are you
also reinstating on Kashmir by way of the lyrics. ?. Suppose, I lose the
opportunity to shoot the scenes in Kashmir, and take it in Ooty, then wont
it be a disgrace if the lyrics state that its Kashmir ? . Hence, Pls write
it in such a manner, that the lyrics are written in such a way, that no one
knows, where its is shot from. I got mesmerised, when I wrote the lyrics for
the song, " Ilaya Nila poyigirudhu ( Illaarayaja 's composition ) ". I have
wondered myself, if Tamil Language could be handled in such a fashion.
Maniratnam wanted such a song for this situation.

Then came, Pudhu vellai Mazhai Ingu poyigindradhu... After the song was
picturised, could I realise, the justification behind Maniratnam asking me
for such lyrics.

when At the recording moment he was there and after listen to the 
melody with music he was amazed and ask to stop the recording and 
rewrite the beatiful lines...
and that is what we are listening now.

if this is true, then i can see 2 reasons for it.

1. ATM movie turned out to be flop/average grosser at the box office. Once
such a thing happens lot of people automatically lose interest in the
movie's songs as well.

2. Billa audio was hyped for a long time.

just 3 days. The CDs and Cassettes hit the market on Monday and nearly 25,000 
CD's and cassettes of Billa were sold out on the opening day itself all over 
the state.

It is the second highest sale of audio of a Tamil movie after Sivaji and first 
ever grand opening for Ajith. This is not only a big relief for Ajith, but for

Hi satish
we cant believe behindwoods.com completely. If we got
this reports in indiafm,galatta,indiaglitz or
cinesouth we can believe. Earlier behindwoods reported
abt sivaji track list completely. We are waiting. Iam
sure their report abt sivaji will be absolutely false.
However like all of us i also wish that if ARR was the
MD of this movie Whenever ARR worked with amir his
career is changing. We can see it in LAGAAN and RDB.
Pls leave RISING. Lets wait for the final result.

The movie was never in any trouble
but there were lengthy discussions,
and debates before the rough look
of the team that would actualize the
movie was finalized. As it has turned
out, the discussions came full circle.

director of the Tamil original would be directing
the movie with the mercurial Aamir Khan in the
lead and Asin making her debut in Bollywood. The
things took their first turn when Aamir Khan was
rumored to be in discussion with Mani Ratnam for
Lajjo, a replacement for Aamir was required; now
that is not something that is easy to find. Then
came the news that Priyanka Chopra was all set
to replace Asin. Finally came the biggest twist.
Director A.R.Murugadoss was reported to be on
his way out of the project due to his very limited
understanding of Hindi. A prominent director from
Bollywood was touted to be the replacement.

With names being thrown around, no one had any
clue as to what the movie will look like. But
as said earlier, things have come full circle.
The discussions have ended where they had begun.

the concerned people seem to have settled for

 This stanza is A.R. Rahman's new, nine-minute anthem that he co-wrote with 
Blaaze, his friend and a composer who worked with Rahman in "Kisna" too. The 
star musician unveiled it in New Delhi this past week. The reason he calls it 
an anthem is that it is created for the cause of poverty alleviation and 
patients suffering from tuberculosis across the world. Rahman is the global 
ambassador for the Stop TB campaign. 
 The `Mozart of Madras' as he has been dubbed, joined hands with Pakistani 
musical band Junoon and the Indian group Indian Ocean to unveil the anthem at a 
Poverty Concert to kick-start the People's Summit Against Poverty, a campaign 
organised under the flagship of Global Call for Action Against Poverty - GCAP - 
timed before the U.N. World Summit that takes place between September 14 and 
16. With this concert Rahman becomes the first musician to pen an international 
poverty anthem. There is more to this concert than meets the eye. It is a 
sustainable campaign that has formed a coalition called Wada Na Todo Abhiyan 
(Don't Break the Promise campaign) joined by several community and faith 
groups, trade unions, celebrities and individuals. It will be a reminder to the 
Indian Government to fulfil the promise made in the National Common Minimum 
Programme and the 10th Five Year Plan about ending poverty. 
 Watching this extremely shy musician who is a picture of modesty is a study in 
itself. He isn't one who to twitch his nose and muffle it with a hanky while 
entering the office of NGO Sahasi at Mangolpuri in Delhi. In this room meant to 
take care of TB patients, filled with malodour, he sits stoically and listens 
to their problems, though he can't answer them as he is not well versed in 
Hindi. 
 His entry makes women break into the strains of "Hum Honge Kamyab". They apply 
a tilak, there is a garland to welcome him. And there are smiles on the faces 
of men and women. But soon the event turns into a media-Rahman rendezvous 
rather than an occasion for the people to meet Rahman. 
 "Will he do something for us", "If he gives us medicine and money, only then I 
will understand that he is here for a cause", "The doctors don't give us 
medicines," ladies of the area raise their voice. Rahman isn't able to convince 
them that the poverty concert he is here for is to voice their concern only. He 
could only manage to say in Hindi "Aap concert main ayaga na? Main wahan gana 
gaunga, sab aana... "  
 But soon one notices that it is not just a token visit. He is here to provide 
ample time to listen to them in a separate room, stinking and hot though it may 
be. He talks to a weeping girl banished from school because of contracting 
tuberculosis, checks her medical card and DOTS doses, talks to an old man and 
sings for them his latest hit "Mangal Mangal" from "Mangal Pandey".

Gulzar's lyrics for the song Ek Lo Ek Muft (buy one get one one free) in
Mani Ratnam's film Guru is a big hit with the Indian youth. "For me,
it's time to freak out," Gulzar laughs. The song is composed by A.R.
Rahman, sung by Bappi Lahiri and filmed on an inebriated Abhishek
Bachchan dancing with twins in his hands. The situation? Aishwarya Rai,
who plays Abhishek's wife in the film, has given birth to twins. "Hence
the lines Ek Lo Ek Muft. You know the catch-phrase in every supermarket
- Buy one get one free," chuckles Gulzar. The lyricist seems to have
discovered the tongue-in-cheek side to himself. "We've always had
characters singing poetry that doesn't suit them. It's time for lyrics

Surya has completed Ghajini. He has now started work on Aaru. This film 
is very special because Vadivelu joins  
   
 Surya for the first time. Trisha is the heroine and the pair is coming 
together after Mounam Pesiyadhe. Shooting for the film is on at 
Saidapet in Chennai. Surya's next film is Chenniayil oru mazhailkkalam. 
The film has music by A.R. Rahman and the heroine is Surya's favorite, 
Jyothika. Surya has decided to sing one number in the film. If it
