I agree and I love every time these two come together ( my favourite director and my favourite musician). However, I do believe his genius was too strong to have reamined hidden for long. Mani Ratnam was the venue it chose to announce its arrival. If it had not been Mani Sir, it would've been someone else. I don't think we would've been deprived of this genius. Rahman gave us the perfect reason to celebrate. The Mozart of Madras is no longer the Mozart to Madras alone. We knew that it would come, but were not sure when it would happen. International recognition in the form of a reputed award is perhaps the only thing that has eluded this prodigiously talented musician from our part of the world. He has done almost everything that a composer might want to, Indian movies in many languages, Broadway musicals, Hollywood epics, live concerts and much more, only official recognition remained. It has come and it is just one step below the biggest awards of all, the Oscars. From a field that consisted of internationally reputed composers, two of who were former winners of many honors and one surprise entrant, the legendary actor, director and now also a composer Clint Eastwood, Rahman was picked. First off, I am a member of Global Rhythms and I want to thank everyone for their support during our concert at Eastern Michigan University. Most of us were working on very little sleep because we arrived at EMU from Cincinnati, OH very early on that day. Despite that, the energy the audience projected drove us to energy levels we didn't know we had. I especially want to thank everyone who wrote positive messages on this board; especially Ganpy, A N S and Shama. I've sent your posts to everyone in the group and we all really appreciate the comments. In regards to Dayton, there are very VERY few tickets left. Like Ranojoy said, the EMU concert was a packed house. What you all may not know was that the concert sold about 1400 tickets at the door that day. Thus, it is very possible for a lot of people to be turned away at our Dayton Concert. If you want tickets, I strongly recommend you purchase yours ASAP. Go to ticketmaster.com to get them. Both A.R. Rahman and our group believe in finding ways make each show better than the last. Thus I promise that this concert will be even better than the one in EMU. We, in Global Rhythms, are both honored by being able to perform the music of A.R. Rahman and being able to perform for fans of his music such as all of you. Once again, thank you all. Hi Rahmaniancs, I wouldlike to thank all for the rsposne u gave to my question. I didn't mention abt mani - arr 'cos everyone knows that's the best. There were some interesting combo but i guess, the ones we should look forward would be K.Vishwanath - Arr Deepa Mehta - Arr Ram Gopal Varma - Arr Vishwanath will get classical out of rahman. Deepa always got best for Arr, be it Fire, Earth( out of the world music) and Water. remember, Water is the only album for which Arr gave his 10/10. But i heard there are some differences betweem Arr and Mehta and i hope they get settle down soon. As for ram Gopal varma, he is special, his movies are special. a bit of arrogant guy but gets the best of every music dir he works with. i really hope that this combo is back. wat do u say?
