[arr] Taal - Beat of Passion..breathing sound

Guys..

I realised only today that there is a breathing sound in the end of Beat of
Passion...blame it on me. While Taal was released, I heard it many times on
Walkman (and not iPod or Discman), but never got around listening to this

Are there more in the group who were ignorant?

 Hi Guys,
Heres a quick question..
Does anyone know the instrument which is played in the song 'Ishq Bina' from
Taal , at the very beginning ...it basically forms the intro of the song,
before Anuradha Sriram starts the 'Ishq Bina' part.

Indeed nostalgiac and an apt reconciliation before the music of Yuvvraaj.

Thanks for making me listen to the CD again and i remember it used to cost 299

It was even worth more than that.

Indeed a timeless classic .

Hey y'all…lets revisit a timeless classic. Yes, a classic indeed. Ghai, Rahman
& Bakshi are the names behind such a brilliant album. I still remember the
first time I skimmed through the cassette tape. I wasn't familiar with this
type of music…it was very different…Rahman' s composition' s were just out of
this world. As days went by, I kept listening and kept picking each note, each
beat, each tune up…I started noticing Rahman's arrangement and coordination…
and then finally I realized that this album will never be forgotten. Till this
day, almost every month, I go back and listen to the songs of Taal.
Ishq Bina - For many people the first track was the best track of the album. I
remember when I used to go to my local video store, girls would be humming
along to this track. My cousins would singing along to Bakshi Saab's amazing
lyrics. This track definitely goes down well with the females. Rahman uses a
singer named Anuradha. I never heard of her at that time. She does a marvellous
job on this track. She has a very sweet and innocent voice. Her voice really
suit's Ash's. Sonu comes in the middle of the track and shines the help of
Bakshi's poetic lyrics. Yet, in this track Rahman himself is the complete show
stealer. As he yells on top of his lungs, "Ishq Bina Kya Jeena Yaaron…Ishq Bina
Kya Marna Yaaron", you instantly get goosebumps on your hand. The violins and
the dholak are the huge standout's in this composition. Super-Hit track.
Taal Se Taal - From the moment your hear Sukhwinder's voice eckoing in the
background you know that this track is going to be a huge success. Rahman's
violins, strings, dholaks and claps come together to create magic. Anand
Bakshi's lyrics are very real and pure. My favourite part is when Udit enters
the track he belts out some of Bakshi's finest words: Maana Anjaan Hoon Tu Mere
Vaaste…Maana Anjaan Hoon Main Tere Vaaste…Main Tujkho Jaan Loon Tu Mujkho Jaan
Le…Aah Dil Ke Paas Aah…Is Dil Ke Raaste…Jo Tera Haal, Woh Mera Haal Hai…Is Haal
Se Haal Mila…Taal Se Taal Mila. It was real nice to see Alka apart of this
album as well. She sounds like an angel here.. This is Alka at her finest. Well
composed track indeed.
Nahin Samne - This is my favourite track from the lot. It's the slowest, yet
most purest track composed. Rahman makes Hari Haran sing…and boy does Hari Saab
sing…he sings his lungs out. This song is a probably one of the most difficult
songs to sing. Not everyone has the amount of lung power that Hari Haran has.
When he extends the note "Priyasi" it's like his voice reaches heaven. For many
years I tried singing this song…I just can't…it's too damn hard. So I must give
major props to Hari Haran. Lyrically, this is the best song in this album.
Anand Bakshi outdoes himself here. All you have to do is close your eyes and
you will find yourself lost in Rahman's composition. One word to describe this
track…Ethereal.
Kahin Aag Lage - I remember the first time I heard about this song. I wasn't
too attracted to it. Honestly, I ain't an Asha fan. I know she's like a legend,
one the queens of music. But as days progressed, this track got really catchy.
I was yelling Kuk Kuk KO and saying Aaavo Saiyooo Aaavo
Saiyo lol. Those little things Rahman saab adds in the middle of this
track are just too memorable. By the time the promo came out I knew that this
song will big big amongst the masses. People will love it and they did so.
Asha's work in this song is mind-blowing. Today I have to admit that no one
could of sung this song better than her. The background singers should also get
props, because their work really added to this track. Good pacy track from
Rahman here.
Ni Main Samajh Gayee - This seemed like an experimental track from Rahman.
There is only one beat from start to end. But AR is smart…he gets the two most
powerful singers to create magic. Sukhwinder and Richa Sharma get together and
hypnotize you. This is a hypnotic track that messes with your head. You get so
caught up with it that there is no way out. The biggest plus point goes to the
chemistry between the two singers. Anand Bakshi's lyrics once again get the job
done. The magician is mesmerizing here.
Ramta Jogi - This time aro

2008-07-17 Thread Chord
Taal Se Taal Mila from Taal is one of my all time favorite songs,
period. What I find most captivating is how the song begins and
evolves bit by bit..first the water droplets, then the soft
Taranas by Sukhwinder the dholak, ghungrus, more droplets, then the
steady, mesmerizing rhythm with full ghungrus and dholak. Heard that
Rahman asked the dholak player to tie ice cream sticks on his hands to
create a certain percussion sound. Alka's singing is extremely
beautiful and never shrill, like she often sounds.

I find that the intro of Taal Se Taal is probably one of the most
brilliant, original, innovative starts to any Hindi film song ever.

AIMING TO BE A TRUE RAHMANIAC

[arr] "Taal" helped me to earn Punjabi fans; JTJA & Adda with in two months - ARR

2008-02-02 Thread Mathan
http://entertainment.in.msn.com/Bollywood/article.aspx?cp-
documentid=1221176

Music maestro A.R. Rahman is ready to build a music conservatory in
Chennai for young talents who want to learn Western classical music.
He has already acquired land for it.

"It's near the Chennai airport. And we plan to start work on it very
soon," Rahman said. He says starting a music conservatory is a dream
he has nurtured for years.

"I feel young talented musicians in our country, who are interested
in Western classical music, have no place to learn. We need to
cultivate a taste for Western symphonic music so that an average
musically-inclined young musician would be as enthused about learning
the violin as the sitar," said Rahman.

The land purchase puts Rahman's dream plan into third gear. "We would
soon be working round-the-clock. I want it to be one of the best
music schools in our country."

Speaking on his latest music soundtrack in Hindi, Rahman said, "I
wouldn't even want to compare my output in 'Jodhaa Akbar' with what
Ashutosh Gowariker and I did in 'Lagaan' or 'Swades'.

"Or, for that matter, what Rakeysh (Omprakash Mehra) and I did
in 'Rang De Basanti' (RDB). We've done what we liked without thinking
of the outcome. You've to go by your instincts in every form of art.
I've never intentionally tried to break the mould. I've tried to do
what's right."

Two of his old scores are also ready for release. "Two years back
Abbas Tyrewallah's 'Jaane Tu Jaane Na' and 'Adaa' by Tanvir Ahmed
were recorded. These will come in the next two months."

And, of course, there's Subhash Ghai's magnum opus `Yuvraj'. "It's
got Western classical vibes, but the sound is very Indian, very
mellow."

He says his music in Ghai's "Taal" helped him earn Punjabi fans. "I
think 'Taal' took me to the Hindi-belt masses. I ceased to be
different. Before that I was seen as this oddity from Chennai. Of
course, 'Rangeela' got its own glory. But 'Taal' is the one that
created a hardcore Punjabi audience for me."

He also has Mehra's "Dilli 6" coming up. "It's turned out very well.
Who can say how it will be accepted? Did anyone expect RDB to become
so big? Even a small idea can change the world.

"When I came into Hindi cinema with 'Roja', the whole road was empty.
A lot of people are still doing good work, but not consistently. Good
work can be done even on YouTube on the net. So let's not blame the
lack of opportunities for the inconsistent musical output."

Malayalam director Adoor Gopalakrishnan says, "TV has corrupted
popular tastes. I'd have to agree with that. I feel the film medium
deserves much better. Even I get pulled into projects which are not
right."

Ask Rahman whom he considers a path-breaker after himself and he
quips: "Why do we need a path-breaker? One never intends to be a path-
breaker. If it happened I'm fortunate.

"Right now we need more experimental melodies in film music. The
problem is that the minute you start composing a soundtrack, you're
thinking you'll do what sells in the charts. Your intention becomes
diluted. It's more about marketing than creativity.

"Which songs should go on the shelf, which should go into the pubs -
these questions should come after you create the music. And there's a
diminishing respect for creative people. Stars get all the respect
because they bring in the audience. But what about other creative
people?"

But Rahman is hopeful. "It will all taper off. We'll have more talent
coming in."

Getting the right notes : Subhash Ghai

There
is a promise of some great music coming our way. Subhash Ghai has
signed on A R Rahman to compose music for his upcoming
Salman-Katrina-starrer Yuvraj. The two had created history when they
worked together some eight years back in Taal. However, after that hit,
there were reports that the two had issues on the creative level and
had sworn not to work together again.

When asked him about his
problems with Rahman and the fact that Rahman's style of working in the
night upset him, Ghai says, "Whenever you work, there are bound be
adjustments, be it with a top star or a top composer. Mutual adjustment
is a necessity. In spite of not working with him, we have always been
very good friends and our friendship has never suffered. As far as
recording in the nights is concerned, don't we also shoot in the night
when required? At the end of the day it's the music that matters and I
am sure we will do well this time around too. I am aware of the
responsibility and the huge expectations that we will have since we
working together after a long time."

A R Rahman

Subhash
Ghai adds, "I have known Rahman for over eight years now. I know him as
a colleague, a technician and a person. We both have immense liking for
each other and we both are very comfortable working with each other.
Yuvraj is a totally musical film and I could think of no one else but
him for the film. I am grateful that he has agreed to do the film
inspite of his busy schedule and his international commitments."

[arr] Taal & Rangeela inspired from Vangelis' compositions

2006-01-08 Thread rahmanforme
Hello Everyone!

I recently read in one of the sites that Taal & Rangeela movies have
music inspired from the famous hollywood composer Vangelis'
compositions. I am not sure if this is true, but I verified in couple
of sites and looks like true. I am trying to verify this, but wanted
to know if someone in the group has already came to know about this
and did some research. If yes, please share it with th group.

Please visit the below sites for more information:

http://www.ecranlarge.com/dossier-109.php
(Check the section - Musique réutilisée)

http://imdb.com/name/nm0006331/

I strongly believe that even if this is true, it might be a
coincidence. Please post your comments.

Cheers,
Srinath.

Re: [arr] Taal BGMs uploaded - Direct Link - THANKS A LOT

2005-11-02 Thread bhaji bhadran

Dear Swapnaaa, Dear Nei,

Thanks a lot from us for letting us have a whole package of Taal BGM. That was some nice work done.

We really do appreciate all your efforts. Without some nice effort of this stature we wouldnt have been able to hear some of the Masterpiece Background Works of ARRahman, which somtimes might surpass the songs he did for that film itself.

Thank You Very Much. And kindly keep doing these, all our support are behind you and we acknowledge the time and effort inspite of your busy work and schedule. BH.
