Re: Monitoring Tools
John, A lot depends upon your requirements and what you are willing to pay. There are several nice free tools out there like Nagios but you need to build a lot of the monitors. With something like HPOV you will pay for the initial development work, but as you know there is customization and configuration that will need to be done on your side. We use HPOV to both integrate with Remedy as well as monitor it. In 40 minutes of server side logging I have 509 instances of this API call happening. Each one is about 4/1000 of a second long or a total of 2 seconds of time in 40 minutes = 3 seconds of time an hour. Granted this is very small - but I am in a large environment and we are having performance problems. Every one that can be solved will be. However, I am not too familiar with what controls this API call. Since we are doing zero financials and no foreign currency this call is not (strictly speaking) needed. The server configuration guide (7.1) says the Currency Ratio Cache Refresh Interval is the setting to change for this. It's defaulted to 60 seconds meaning each client will check the ratios once every minute. This makes complete sense to me if you are dealing in any financials with foreign currency. However, I can see in the logs that this API call happens a LOT more than every 60 seconds- like every few seconds during a save of an Incident for example. It's called 4 times in 13 seconds for the same user (and 3 of those are in the span of 1/10 of a second) in one example and this just seems pointless. Anyone know how to slow this down to something more like once an hour per user? It's overkill X a zillion right now. Re: Email Address issue in Notify
Mark, If you are willing to use a temp field (or remove the string one email address at a time from the exiting field then you can do this: Filter 1: ztmp = LEFT($email customer$,STRSTRC($email customer$, ;)-1) email customer = SUBSTRC($email customer$,STRSTRC($email customer$, ;)) Filter 2: ( end the name of the filter in a `!, that is back tick followed by an exclamation mark) Run IF: If 'ztmp' != $ NULL $ If action: Notify action Filter 3: Run IF: if 'email customer' != $NULL$ If action : Goto Exection order for Filter 1 ( Or you can use a guide and use goto's in it.) If you really wanted to get tricky... you likely could keep the value from 'email number' and then keep picking the next email address out of the array, but you will still need a field to hold a single email address, and likely a second integer field to find the next ; in the string too. (And I think it is easier to rip the string down one email address at a time than doing that anyway.) Re: ARGetMultipleCurrencySetRatios X a zillion - RESOLVED
DING! DING! WINNER! Issue resolved. We didn't have a default currency defined even though we are not doing anything remotely related to money in the app. Ironic, considering I'm working at a Federal agency's accounting service center. I went from 509 calls in a very short time to 71 in 20 minutes or so. Re: ARGetMultipleCurrencySetRatios X a zillion
I wouldn't worry about these. These look like the mid-tier logs, which don't show which queue is in use, but I don't think these are anything to worry about. Speculating here, but if you have currency fields, it would make sense that it would pull the conversion ratios at the time some currency data is returned to provide the proper currency values. Re: ARGetMultipleCurrencySetRatios X a zillion
I've seen this type of API logging every time the Default and Actual Cost values are set on the Financial tab -- specifically Incident (b/c it's used heavily), but it could occur anywhere. The workflow sets the Cost fields to $DEFAULT$ and then sums the Cost from the table. The Active Links seem to have a Currency Conversion function in the setting of the field -- but the calls occur whether or not the Conversion function is used. For what it's worth, I did set up some default currency ratios and didn't see any change in API logging. I also have defaults set for the fields and the API still calls for the ratios. I know this doesn't actually solve the issue but just wanted to post it in the event that it helps William with the recreation of the issue and helps anyone figure out where the issue really is. Personally, I would think it's a bug--that the setting in ar.cfg is being disregarded but I have no way proving that. Password Management in 7.1 Patch 002
Hello All, We are trying to implement the Password Management functionality in 7.1 Patch 002. I have enabled the functionality and it works well, as long as you don't try it via the mid-tier, I checked and our mid-tier is also 7.1 Patch 002. Even though for testing, I set a test account to Require Password Change on Next Login, it doesn't prompt for password change when accessing via the mid-tier. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Ticket creation in 7.1 via email
Hi Group, I have a question for you guys. I am doing the AR Server 7.1 email integration for my company. One of the standard requirements is to create an incident when an email is submitted to a particular account. Now I have written filters to push the values of the email submitter on to the required fields in HPD: helpdesk form (which is the incident creation form for 7.1). Now I have a problem. The filter fails and I am pretty sure why. But I don't know how to go about doing it. In the incident form in 7.1 simply typing in the user details, fails to generate an incident number. When I enter the name and hit enter (in the incident creation form) an underlying workflow is triggered which also assigns the incident number. In my filter, I am pushing in the values and I am getting the same error which says incident number is not assigned. Which makes sense because the activelink to assign the incident nummber is not firing. Has any one attempted a similar job. Can please guide me as to what should be done next. Hi Rune, Can you be more elaborate. I searched the integration document and there was no mention about any such form. Can you give me what form it is in the administrator. Re: Ticket creation in 7.1 via email
The creation form is called HPD:IncidentInterface_Create. Sadly, the fieldids don't exactly match the fieldids in HPD:Help Desk' so it takes a bit of research to figure out what to push where. Hi Guys, Thanks for your inputs. It was really helpful. I was able to create an incident via email. Sadly though two incidents are getting created for each submission. Now I have to trace and find out the error. Thanks Sivarama On Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 3:43 PM, Ron Legters [EMAIL PROTECTED]wrote: ** The creation form is called HPD:IncidentInterface_Create. Re: Ticket creation in 7.1 via email
In ITSM 7 there is a form called HPD:IncidentInterfacecreate. This is the form you?push the required fields to including Customer first and last name. The workflow for this form is all filters and it will do the appropriate population that you are seeing on the Incident form that are Active Links. There is documentation in the Integration manual that will better explaing this. Look at the WEB Services section for more details. -Original Message- From: sivarama velicheti [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Thu, 14 Aug 2008 4:37 pm Subject: Re: Ticket creation in 7.1 via email ** Hi Rune, ??? Re: I am new to ARS I need help
This may not seem so, but AR System has functioned that way for many years, and so it is not a bug. The only ways to get the excess data out of the field are: 1) Go into the DB and remove it there (recommended for DBAs only) 2) Increase the size of the field to accommodate the size of the data (consider the performance impact first) 3) Use one of the tools/utilities designed for situations like this. Search BMC's Developer Network or the ARSList archives for more information on that. In the meantime, don't do the cut/paste any more until you can verify that the field will hold the data being pasted.
