Automating a web browser

2010-09-21 Thread Mark Milke
Hi Listers,

I know it's silly, but that's the only way at the moment. We need to
automate a Web Browser:

1. Open an URL (easy)
2. Transfer data into two fields
3. Push the Submit button

How to do 2 and 3?

Thanks,
Mark

Dear List,
Somehow I managed to fix this. Was a simple thing but it took a long for me
figure this out.
Had to point the URL to the form (Init Form) instead of the login from.

Dear Andreas
We are on patch 23
I have noticed that system go not allow any logins which are not in the system
and if I am using my roll id with a wrong password. I gives me aAuthentication
failed message

I had changed the pointer of midtier server to my dev box and here it work
absolutely fine.
The movement I changed it back to prod box it started giving me the same
problem.
I am able to log to the system with user tool and the old miditier server
(which is still active and on w2k and midtier 6.3 patch 23) to the production
box but do not find any issue in that.

No I am wondering where the issue lies. All combinations tried and nothing has
been successful

Hello Rajesh,
what patch you are on with Server and Mid Tier?

There was an issue solved with Server Patch 22:

SW00265125

Application changes cause loss of LDAP authentication capability.

Also one bug fixed in Mid Tier patch 15:

SW00222355

Users are locked out after an unsuccessful attempt to log in when using LDAP.
Specify the external authentication server using the
arsystem.authentication_server property in the Mid Tier config.properties file.

Try using Selenium IDE for firefox. You can record the actions you want and
just keep 'replaying' the same later.

We have automated our post installation testing for Remedy using selenium in

UPGRADE from 7.0.01 to 7.5 issues - Data types are not appropriate for relational operation (ARERR 313)

2010-09-21 Thread pascale . boyer
Hi all,

We have upgraded 3 different environments from 7.0.01 patch 008 to 7.5
patch 6. On 2 out of 3, we see the same error, but only at start-up. The
third one has no error. Those are 3 totally independent and different
servers.
But the 2 that are showing the error message at start-up do have view
forms linking them to each other. Those view forms seems to be fine.
We ran a series of tests on both of those server that shows the error and
all seems to be working fine. Users did their testing and all seems to be
working perfectly fine for them too.
We put the logs on trying to capture exactly where is this error coming
from. We did see a few filters but nothing that fixed that error. We
looked at all our table fields to make sure that their def were not
corrupted but again nothing.
We are supposed to upgrade our production environment but do not feel at
ease with this error popping up just after the upgrade and on 2 separate
environments.
We even disabled all our filters and still have the error at start-up.
Same with escalation even if it is not coming from the escalation thread.

This is the error we are getting
Mon Sep 20 14:20:21 2010 390600 : Data types are not appropriate for
relational operation (ARERR 313)

I am running out of ideas. Anyone?

Re: Incident Ownership - ITSM 7.6

2010-09-21 Thread Dmitry Baryshnikov
We think it's a bug in the workflow, that's trying to compare the full name
with the login name. Sure it would never match. We changed the RunIf
qualification in the second Set Fields action to:

('Support Group ID' = $Owner Group ID$) AND ('Full Name' = $Owner Login ID$)
AND ('Assignment Availability' = Yes)
and instead of mapping 'Owner' to $Full Name$
do the following two mappings:
'Owner Login ID' to $Login ID$
'Owner' to $Full Name$

Everyting works fine for us now.

Re: AR_DATA_TYPE_BITMASK in ARX?

2010-09-21 Thread Mueller, Doug
Folks,

Before anyone hurts themselves trying or looking too hard...

BITMASK is indeed a tag on the datatype list.

It is a datatype that we had put on the candidate list about version 2 and we
added the code for it to allow it to be added.

HOWEVER, it never happened. There are some implementation issues and challenges
that we never did get back to. So, this datatype has not been implemented.

There is no internal support for it and it is not a legal, supported datatype.

We have the placeholder for it for the future and it may be implemented some
day, but for now, there is nothing to test since it is not used.

 Folks,

Before anyone hurts themselves trying or looking too hard...

BITMASK is indeed a tag on the datatype list.

It is a datatype that we had put on the candidate list about version 2 and
 we
added the code for it to allow it to be added.

HOWEVER, it never happened. There are some implementation issues and
 challenges
that we never did get back to. So, this datatype has not been
 implemented.

There is no internal support for it and it is not a legal, supported
 datatype.

We have the placeholder for it for the future and it may be implemented
 some
day, but for now, there is nothing to test since it is not used.

Jason / Doug;

Thanks for your suggestions; I've tried to set either to $NULL$ and $DEFAULT$
the View Field, and then populate with the desired URL, but the result is the

But you can set a View Field to $DEFAULT$.

BMC Remedy Action Request System 7.5.00: Form and Application Objects Guide,
pg. 159:
**

In BMC Remedy User and a browser, the contents of a view field do not load
automatically when users open a form. To display the initial value in those
applications, perform one of these steps:

Select the view and set the Set to Defaults property to True (governs New
mode), and set user preferences to “Set Fields to Default Values” in New and
Search modes in the AR System User Preferences form. You can also set these
user preferences in BMC Remedy User by choosing Tools Options and selecting
the Behaviors tab of the Options dialog box.

Use a Set Fields active link action to set the view field value to $DEFAULT$
when the form opens. In this case, set the execute on condition to Window
Loaded.
**

You should be able to test if setting to default will help by opening the form
in the User tool and pressing CTRL+U.

Hugo,
You can't really refresh a view field. You can, however use a set fields action
to set it to a space or perhaps the URL of a spacer image, and then a second
set fields action to set it to the new URL you want. As I remember you need to
do this in two separate active links.

Hi Listers;

I'm having a little issue with a View Field; let me explain it:

I have an application (Web Based) when we store archived records from our
system, now the users can access this application from ARS, so i need to show
the Web Based application inside a View Field on Remedy; here comes the issue:

On Mid Tier, is working perfectly; but on the remedy client the View Field does
not refresh properly example:

1.- Select record 1 from a table field and double click on it, brings a dialog
window with my view field populated with the desired URL

2.- Close the dialog window
3.- Select record 2 from the same table field and double click on it, this
brings the dialog window with the view field populated with the record 1,
perhaps the URL has changed.
4.- I need to make right click over View Field Refresh; and finaly the record
is displayed

My question here is: Exists an action or run process that can perform a
Refresh action over a View Field?

Thanks!

There is a workaround BMC support can provide. The issue is resolved in

Incident Management - unable to set Incident Owner Individual

Hello Tony. I've taken over this issue and I'll be working with you now.
I've noticed that you are having some issues with incident owner, and yes,
it is a known defect logged as SW00366691- It's been fixed in version
7.6.03, which has been just released; nonetheless, there's also a
workaround for this issue, which is:

1) Open the menu CTM:SGL:Owner-Q
2) Change the value from Full Name to Login ID.

We think it's a bug in the workflow, that's trying to compare the full
name with the login name. Sure it would never match. We changed the RunIf
qualification in the second Set Fields action to:
('Support Group ID' = $Owner Group ID$) AND ('Full Name' = $Owner Login
ID$) AND ('Assignment Availability' = Yes)
and instead of mapping 'Owner' to $Full Name$
do the following two mappings:
'Owner Login ID' to $Login ID$
'Owner' to $Full Name$

Everyting works fine for us now.

Re: Unique Index

2010-09-21 Thread Lyle Taylor
Do you mean you want to check the entire table/form? Using a filter (2
actually) is still a good approach. Basically, you add a display-only field to
the form, upon submit (and perhaps update), you have a filter that runs a query
(set fields to the new field you added) to see if there are already any other
matching entries. Then the second fire would filter if the value of your new
DO field has a value (that means a match was found and someone is trying to
insert duplicate data), and you pop up an appropriate error message.

So, that validates new data coming into the system. If you want existing data
validated, you'll need to run some DB queries to find the duplicates (it's a
relatively simple SQL statement) and fix them. Then you know you've got good
data to start with, and you ensure that new data is good also.

Re: Data Extraction: Foundation, Process Set Up and Transactional Data

2010-09-21 Thread Jason Miller
Hi Raj,

We are using Meta-Update (
http://www.softwaretoolhouse.com/product/SthMupd/index.html) to copy data
from our ITSM 7.6 test to production environments. We are also using it to
transform data to be CMDB appropriate as we bring it from our old custom
inventory form (i.e to put CIs in the correct class and update CTI, etc).

I haven't written a script to query arschema and automatically copy all
regular forms (not sure I want to in our environment) but it should be
possible. What I have done is taken a list like Mahesh mentioned add a
delimiter and create a Meta-Update script to copy all the records in the
forms listed. There is also an option to suppress filters so your data is
not being updated while the merge is happening. It works very well.

Hope that helps.

 Hello All,
Need to extract all data from an environment and import into other.
Which would the best way to approach this ?
Also, How can I find/distinguish which forms are related to Foundation
Data, Which are Process Set Up Data Forms and Which are Transactional
 Data Forms ?
Again, what would be the best way to export data from these and import
 data from these ?
Admin tool or Data Management Tool , or Third Party tool ?
Also for data extractions , can I use like a third party tool and do
data exports for forms starting with A, then move on to B and so on
until I finish with all the regular forms ?
Please advise and share your experiences.
 Thanks, Raj

LDAP Authentication on AR 7.5.005

2010-09-21 Thread Moe Abdelaziz
We disabled the Allow Guest User and Give Guest User Restricted Read
options on the AR configurations form. Surprisingly, if a user type
his/her login with a mix case, but uses the correct password, he/she is
granted access to the system but as a guest user. However, when using the
correct login but incorrect password, the user is dined access and cannot
log-in.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? I am suspecting that this has to
do with LDAP being case insensitive.

Current environment:
ARS 7.5.005
ITSM 7.6.001
Oracle 10.2
Win 2003 x64

Thanks,
Mohamed Abdelaziz

SMPM application starts and then stops right away

2010-09-21 Thread Ray T
Hi folks, The SMPM trial tool that comes with ITSM 7x used to work on my pc,
but it doesn't work any more.

On starting it, I get the initial page ok with this URL:
http://localhost:5050/INDEX.HTM

The initial page appears mostly ok. Subsequently, clicking anywhere gives
me:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:5050

Basically, there's nothing listening on port 5050.

As soon as I start SMPM71.exe,
I see that two processes get added on the Task Manager, but they die right
away. So, basically the http server listening at port 5050 starts and shows
the initial page, then it dies right away, causing subsequent clicks, or
even reload of the same page to cause error.

What's going on?

Win XP sp3. I installed another copy of SMPM 7.1 on a new directory, the
same issue. I tried 7.6, the same issue.

-
The new SMPM install log has this error, not sure what to do with it---

(Sep 21 2010 11:51:04

  THROWABLE EVENT {Description=[Failed to configure

com.bmc.install.configuration.shared.PropertiesConfigurationFile.parse(PropertiesConfigurationFile.java:117)

com.bmc.install.product.bmcservicemanagementprocessmodel.BMCServiceManagementProcessModelPostInstallConfigUtilities.configureApplicationProperties

If your SMPM is working, do you really have this file it's complaining
about?
C:\Program
Files\SMPM-2\bmcservicemanagementprocessmodel\application.properties

I don't have the file or the directory bmcservicemanagementprocessmodel
