Re: Incident Create/Update WS - how to attach more than 1 Work Info entry

2012-12-17 Thread Carl Wilson
Hi,

no this is not possible, you would need to use the HPD:IncidentInterface
form for additional entries, or create a WS directly from the HPD:WorkLog
form.

Kind Regards,

v8.0 Preconfigured Stack Installer

2012-12-17 Thread Mike Worts
Has anyone used the ITSM 8.0 stack installer for the following configuration:

Windows 2008 64it Standard,
Oracle 11g 64-Bit Standard

I am struggling to complete the install. The ar.cfg and armonitor.cfg all seem
to point to an unknown server vw-snj-rem-qa11. The installer does not seem to
accept the server name and database which I entered during the installation.

Mike.

Re: v8.0 Preconfigured Stack Installer

2012-12-17 Thread Hennigan, Sandra
I tried & failed and finally used the separate installers.

The stack installer failed to concatenate the server name & drive space.
Example: \\servernameD:\BMCSoftware should
have been \\servername\D:\BMCSoftware -
the slash between servername and drive letter was missing. The error returned
was "Access denied".

2012-12-17 Thread Mike Worts
My installation seems to complete successfully, besides getting some minor
"duplicate index" errors, but the installer didn't update any of the 'cfg'
configuration files. The ar.cfg also had an Oracle-Two-Task entry to some
default remote database. I tried quite a few times. I have plenty of resource,
and followed the instructions (I had to increase my redo log size).

Remedy fails to start, even if I change my computer name to match the ar.cfg
entry. Midtier installed ok.

No luck.

Yep, both Remedy and Portmapper services exist.

I had to change the computer name and change OracleTwo-Task to Oracle-SID in
the ar.cfg before I tried to start Remedy. I even had to change the java path
in the armonitor.cfg was also wrong. The arerror.log is huge on startup. I
think it racked up about 25Mb during the start. The installation has obviously
failed somewhere, but the actual installation log file did not really suggest
there were any major errors.

Redesign of "Search Knowledge" in 7.6.04

2012-12-17 Thread Barbour, Brandi D
All,
Has anyone been able to redesign or "fix" the Search Knowledge Functionality in
7.6.04? When you go to the RKM Console and click on Search Knowledge, OOTB it
searches all modules (ITSM) and RKM modules. However, when you click on the
Search Knowledge from an Incident Ticket it only searches Knowledge Base
Sources. I have been through the code and when it is triggered from Incident
it fires an Active Link RKM:KBI:SearchBtn134SourceCBTCheckNonExternal firing
however I have not found why it is not firing for the Search Knowledge from RKM
Console.
We did put in the workaround to limit the search when going from
Applications-Knowledge Management - Search Knowledge, however this now limits
the Global Search Functionality as well. It is not a good solution and BMC has
an RFE in for this functionality but this seems confusing to our users. I am
sure this can be done and I believe I am missing an Active Link somewhere that
is not allowing this AL to fire. If anyone has already done this, could you
point me in the right direction?
We are on Windows, SQL, ITSM 7.6.04 sp 2, ARS 7.6.04 sp 3.
Thanks,
Brandi

the communities.  Can't find it!

Is there a white paper or documentation anywhere that details what needs to be
done regarding licenses and servers for ITSM and Disaster Recovery?

problem users and the knowledge base.

2012-12-17 Thread Peters, Ron
We're starting down the path of using the 'problem' module and noted that users
without the 'problem user' role cannot create known issues or KB articles. This
works fine for us since we're currently using a separate KB/documentation
solution. Once we enable the 'problem user' role, folks will be able to add
entries. Is there a that will disable this functionality while still enabling
problem? I would think there's somebody out there who is using problem as well
as an external KB.

Thoughts?

Thanks again.

Re: Finding a Active Link ID

2012-12-17 Thread Mueller, Doug
Mark,

There is no active link ID being referenced.

What the action PERFORM-ACTION-ACTIVE-LINK 128 101767 is doing is the
following:

Perform the active links that would have run on the firing condition 128 on
field with ID 11767.

So, 11767 is a FIELD ID.
Firing condition 128 is On Menu Choice.

The list of firing conditions is in the API file ar.h. A quick list of them is
as follows:

#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_NONE  0
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_BUTTON1/* tags for when to execute an active*/
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_RETURN2/* link ORed together to form mask */
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_SUBMIT4/* for mask of conditions to execute*/
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_MODIFY8/*  active link on   */
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_DISPLAY  16
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_MODIFY_ALL   32
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_MENU_OPEN64
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_MENU_CHOICE 128
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_LOSE_FOCUS  256
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_SET_DEFAULT 512
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_QUERY  1024
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_AFTER_MODIFY   2048
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_AFTER_SUBMIT   4096
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_GAIN_FOCUS 8192
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_WINDOW_OPEN   16384
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_WINDOW_CLOSE  32768
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_UNDISPLAY 65536
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_COPY_SUBMIT  131072
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_LOADED   262144
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_INTERVAL 524288
#define AR_EXECUTE_ON_EVENT   1048576

The focus of the conversation seems to have been on how to get reports of
workflow rather than how this
specific active link action works and what is involved in it.

Note that the field ID is not present for all firing conditions. Some
conditions (like this one) are tied to a
field. In those cases, the field ID is needed. However, for firing conditions
with no field (like "on submit"), the
field ID is not used.

I hope this explains what the action is in this case and how to follow.

So, you are not looking for a specific active link, but what active links fire
on a specific condition on a specific
field.

You could use the various tools talked about - or dev studio that does have the
ability to show what fires on
a specific firing condition and show you the workflow firing on that condition
(for that field).

I hope this is useful,

Doug Mueller

Hi All & TGIF,

We are new to ITSM. One question that has come is what is search criteria when
I select Assigned to All My Groups in the Incident Console? Let's say I am in
the IT Staff group. Are the results where the Assigned Group = IT Staff, the
Owner Group i= IT Staff or both?

I tried to figure this out by running Active Link logging and thought I had it
until I encountered PERFORM-ACTION-ACTIVE-LINK 128 101767

Is there an easy way to find the active link?

Thanks

Hello Stan,

I think the use of sub-processes would support this.

 There are 2 options:

A *sub process task* is a way of linking in another process. When tasks are
created, tasks for the main process are created, along with tasks for the
sub process. The linking is done in such a way that the sub process runs
all its tasks before passing control back to the main process tasks. I have
tested with a 3 level process, which is attached. This is a good way of
reusing a set of tasks that are the same in several processes. If using
this, the sub process used should not have a starting task set, otherwise
it will be assigned before the sub process task has been reached. Note also
that you need to be careful when changing the sub process that you also
update the version number in the sub process task in the parent process,
this is not done automatically.

A *start new process action*. When this action is run, additional tasks are
generated at run time for the process defined. These additional tasks are
run concurrently with the calling process, so slightly different to a *sub
process task.*

*hope this helps*

Hi Vaibhav,

Thanks for thinking about this, but that's not the problem or situation that
I was thinking about. What you describe is linking one process with another
process, and I'm sure being able to do that is important for people to know
about. In my scenario, the lowest level task is where the updating is. If
a task has 2 sub-tasks, when the sub-tasks close, the task closes
automatically. This can go down as many levels as you wish.

You don't have to do more work on this for my account.

Thanks.

** Susan/Stan,

As a customer, I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.
The reason it doesn't come with ARS is probably because in order to get your
processes that you build to work within Remedy, it needs to leverage Task
Management. That is the underlying engine that your processes use to
actually enforce the flows you build. It's all within TMS.
Because of that, you also cannot insert Ad-Hoc tasks in there as it would
break the pre-built nature of the process flow. The whole idea is to enforce
a standard process. Ad-Hoc would break that in most cases.
