Dear All,
Please let me know if there are any openings for BMC Remedy
consultants in GCC(Gulf)- Kuwait/Qatar/UAE/Oman. Currently I am working in
Kuwait and have close to 8 years of BMC Remedy experience in
development/consulting/implementation/presales etc.

Thanks

BIRT parameters

2013-05-07 Thread Marek B.
Hi,
Does the BMC Remedy AR System ODA driver supports birt report parameters
like other data connections?
I've tried several synthax in the query (e.g. 'Field' = "$my_param$")
but none works for me.

Re: Filter - Webservice

2013-05-07 Thread Govind M
Is there any possibility on this scenario like opening a record in two windows
or clients. One console gets the change and triggered the filter A on save. And
if the user tries to make the same changes in second console and click save.
The second save will have the transaction values which qualifies for filter
Runif to trigger. I am not sure. But it would throw an error like "This form
was modified by another user and making changes and save would override it".
Pls correct me if am wrong.

Does another filter which fires before this one set field2=No? If so maybe the
response to web service call is modifying the record, workflow sets field2 to
No and the cycle starts over when filter A fires again.

I have been looking into one scenario to reproduce in test env but I just
confused more on this. It is like I have a filter with below syntax,

Filter name : Filter A
Filter runif: field1 = abdc AND field2 = No
Actions :  Set field  -> field 2 = Yes
Set field -> Trigger 3rd party webservice.

After firing the filter A for first time, field2 was set to the value "Yes" and
triggered the wbs request to a middle ware app for a record. After few
minutes, the same request has been triggered thrice with the intervals of
milliseconds which make me to think, after the value change in Runif field2, is
it possible to trigger the filter again? :( From the user tool wise, there is
no track of changes in the record and we don't have logs as well. I suspect
this can't be by user action, since it of milliseconds interval.

Does any come across in ARS 7.1 patch 8 in solaris box.? Any solutions/ ideas
are much appreciated to reproduce/resolve.

Govind

Re: Filter - Webservice

2013-05-07 Thread Jean-Louis Halleux
Mark,

I already had the exact same issue on a (too) fast machine with the standard
ITSM application (change module). Here is my explanation for a change ticket
(the behaviour I noticed was by design, so I have never found a real solution).
Basically, it is due to multithreading.

The normal behaviour is the following
- Hit the save button of a change ticket
- Process the filters (phase 1)
- Commit to the DB
- Process the actions of phase2 filters

Now imagine this scenario:
During level 1 phase, you can run set action or push action (as long as the
filter name ends with `!). Imagine you push a command to the CAI. Another
thread (the CAI thread) is monitoring the CAI queue, and might execute the
command before the Commit of the normal flow. So in fact the sequence is this:

- Hit the save button of a change ticket
- Process filters of phase 1
=> Triggers push to CAI
- CAI processes command
=> Modifies something in the ticket we started with. Initial commit is
not yet executed, so filters are executed exactly as in the initial transaction
=> Commit is done for this action
=> Process phase 2 filters
- Commit is done in the DB for the initial action
- Process phase 2 filters.

In my case, my change requester sometimes received 2 notifications for the
creation of one change.

I hope this helps you a little.

Best regards,
Jean-Louis Halleux

As long as we are talking about Peregrine, just came across this fun article
about Service-Now ...

Peregrine II? ServiceNow insiders, including Moores, dumping shares

Former Peregrine insiders Moores, Noell, Luddy jettisoning stock quickly

Don Bauder , April 3, 2013

Richard Pearson of Seeking Alpha has an excellent story, dated April 1, on
massive insider selling at San Diego's ServiceNow, an information tech
company that went public last summer. "ServiceNow insiders have now sold
over $400 million of stock, even after its [Initial Public Offering]" in
which insiders also dumped shares. Just in the past eight weeks, insiders
have sold $80 million of shares, notes Pearson. "In the past, ServiceNow
directors and management, including founder Frederic Luddy and directors
John Moores and Charles Noell, were big early sellers of their previous
venture, Peregrine Systems," which was one of San Diego's largest financial
frauds. "They pulled in over half a billion dollars from sales of stock --
even though these sales had occurred during RESTRICTED PERIODS designed to
prevent selling by insiders."

Luddy has already dumped $12.7 million worth of ServiceNow stock, Moores
$20.6 million and Noell $9.1 million, reports Pearson. Another seller has
been JMI Funds, connected to both Moores, its namesake, and Noell.

"ServiceNow Director John Moores had previously been chairman of Peregrine
Systems, and his [venture capital] firm JMI Capital held a substantial
stake. He had recruited Fred Luddy to assume the eventual role of chief
technology officer," writes Pearson. "ServiceNow Director Charles Noell
served as a Peregrine director and as the audit committee chairman."

Now as long as none of them are behind the BMC buyout .. Daniel

Not April 1st, and take a look on line and you can see the record of
transactions since they fall under insider trading regulations.

The directors have taken out hundreds of millions since last November.

Please Note: I am not suggesting that these transactions are illegal since
I don't know US laws or what goes around what is appropriate or not, and
there are SEC filings around these trades.

Hey - What's more important here - BMC Going to a private equity firm or the
resurrection (ok, so not until the fall) of the Twinkie? Hopefully they will
be back on the shelves before the next RUG. They just have to wait until the
union contract expires - then the new owner of the brand can start the
factories back up.

My guess is they will start by simply packaging all the old ones laying around.
From what I hear, those things never get old.

Bah, I rather enjoy a double-cheese burger and fries when I'm cycling

2013-05-07 Thread Pierson, Shawn
They are also supposedly looking to buy Compuware. Since Bain has a history of
also buying companies, starving them of cash and selling off their remains, I
think the areas of concern from a BMC employee perspective should be the areas
that overlap with Compuware at this point, which doesn't include Remedy. It
would make sense for them to sell off Remedy and other product lines whether
BMC survives or not. The Remedy business still is strong enough that it's
likely that anyone who buys it would be interested in actually using it to make
money rather than shutting it down. If they end buying it, I can see Oracle
expanding Remedy's market share if they try to bundle some portion of it in
with their eBusiness suite or Peoplesoft or something.

In any case, I'm not a fan of Bain - not because of politics, but because my
kids can't enjoy going to K.B. Toys like I used to when I was a kid, and Toys
R' Us appears to be on the verge of bankruptcy as well. I haven't looked into
it but I wouldn't be surprised if others that you listed are in financial
trouble now as well. Maybe it will work out ok for Remedy, but I will be
surprised if BMC is as stable (or even around) in five years as it was before
now.

Is there any possibility on this scenario like opening a record in two
windows or clients. One console gets the change and triggered the filter A
on save. And if the user tries to make the same changes in second console
and click save. The second save will have the transaction values which
qualifies for filter Runif to trigger. I am not sure. But it would throw an

I have been looking into one scenario to reproduce in test env but I just
confused more on this. It is like I have a filter with below syntax,

Filter name : Filter A

Filter runif: field1 = abdc AND field2 = No

Actions :  Set field  -> field 2 = Yes

Set field -> Trigger 3rd party webservice.

After firing the filter A for first time, field2 was set to the value "Yes"
and triggered the wbs request to a middle ware app for a record. After few
minutes, the same request has been triggered thrice with the intervals of
milliseconds which make me to think, after the value change in Runif field2,
is it possible to trigger the filter again? :-( From the user tool wise,
there is no track of changes in the record and we don't have logs as well. I
suspect this can't be by user action, since it of milliseconds interval.

Does any come across in ARS 7.1 patch 8 in solaris box.? Any solutions/
ideas are much appreciated to reproduce/resolve.

Govind

[URGENT]Use Alter Table Alter Column on Remedy ARS

Guys,
Besides that this could be a really silly question. I'd like to check with all
of the gurus here.
I need to increase the length of the RLS field on Remedy (ARS 7.0.01 patch 007)
over a custom development, but when I do this on the Admin, It returns an SQL
error, and field is not saved on the form.
I went further and find that this table on the properties for the ARSystem DB
(SQL Server) the table is labeled as t instead of T, what makes me think that
someone had already played with the form. Question here is: Will I broke more
at DB if I modify this field by using alter table and alter column commands?

Oracle-Two-Task in Oracle LoadBalanced Oracle DB

2013-05-07 Thread Jennifer Varkey
Hello All,

I have the following entries in the tnsnames.ora

ORCL =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ITSM764_125)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ITSM764_126)(PORT = 1521))
    (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
    (CONNECT_DATA =
  (SERVER = DEDICATED)
  (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    )

Now, in the ar.conf the parameter for Oracle-Two-Task is "orcl".

When I connect I get to see data from both the DB instances.

How do I configure settings in ar.conf so that it connects to just one instance
in a load-balanced Oracle environment?

Regards,
Sonia

In 7.6.4 If you can list all the pending incidents together in Search
Incident console and select all and then click on modify all it will help
you to modify status of all the pending incidents.

Re: Modifying Incident

2013-05-07 Thread Govind M
I hope this will help incase if you want to resolve the pending incidents. You
can try using relationship tab. Go to the incident A which you want actually to
resolve and relate all the pending incidents using "original of" type like
below. On resolving incident A, it will resolve all the pending incidents. But
pls check your Filter API timeout. There is an unsaid constraint on the number
of incidents to relate for resolving related incidents. I tried this in 7.1 for
resolving 240 incidents but ends with Filter time out error.

Current request : incident A" original of" related incident B

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
But I've tried both ways i.e selecting the incidents and then "Tools-->
modify" all but modify all option is disabled in my case and another one
that "relating the incidents" but upto my understanding we cannot relate
the Pending incidents.
I'hv tried this also and at this time it is showing me error.

Re: Modifying Incident

2013-05-07 Thread Govind M
Pavan,

You can relate a pending incident with any incident. But I guess if you have
related with one incident using original of / duplicate of, the same incident
you can't relate with other one. I just tried now and it resolved the related
incident without any error.

Govind
