Clearing the PDT in the SRD and remapping solved the issue for us.

Did you skip the PDT part? SRDs don't directly connect to AOTs, so you

  Hello All,

We are facing an issue while Remapping SRD's.

  Scenario:

We have to remap few SRD's such that the Service Request
question-answers flow down till the Work Orders.

These SRD's have common AOT (same or different PDT's).

  What we have done :

  1. We have taken all the SRD's offline which are related to the AOT.
  2. Added the Required fields in the AOT.
  3. Now for some of the SRD's (not all) when we go to SRD and click on
the mappings, we do not find the fields which we have added in the AOT
 (Step 2).

Can you please let me know what could be the reason for this behavior?

  Thanks and Regards,
  Rajesh

Hello All,

Is there any way we can make multiple SRD's offline.
Note :
1. Modify All option does not work.
2. We are not allowed to customise anything using dev studio (no escalations,

Hi,
You can update these from the Service Request Definition Display Properties
(SRD:ServiceRequestDefinition_DispProp) form using Modify All - however you
will need to click away from the entries once you have done the modification to
be prompted to save the records or use the buttons in the User Tool. If using

I actually have a similar problem on v7.5. It's on a notification email filter
that has been working for several versions and worked fine for at least 1-2
years on v7.5. Then I went into the filter, probably the first change since we
went to v7.5, and made an adjustment to the body and since then the Case ID
will not show the value in the Subject line, only the $Ticket ID$ field label.
I've tried everything I can think of, including recreation, and it continues
to do. I'm not touching the other similar filters I have!
We're in the process of upgrading to v8.1 so I won't be spending more time on
it and I'm curious to see how the new version does it.
These are filters that were initially created in v5 10 years ago.

Hmm, in my case it seems like the field is not behaving as an inline field in
the Subject line for some reason. If it is taking on the behavior of a selected
field then that is unfortunate since anyone using row-level permissions on the

Something to think aboutmaybe this IS fixed

I have quite often seen things that when I upgrade, it breaks my system,
then as I investigate my problem, I find that in previous versions, proper
permissions weren't being applied to my data, and the upgrade fixed a
permissions hole that I was inadvertently using. So the upgrade in my
situations, while breaking my workflow, actually made my workflow work
correctly, and I needed to update the permissions on the system to allow my
workflow to work the way I intended it (not knowing I was taking advantage
of a security hole)...

So...in this situation, if previous versions allowed field data to go out

That is exactly what I hear being discussed here...so I suspect if your

 Hi,

I have an active defect SW00447306 that is related to the Body (Message
 Text).

Inline fields there did not need to be public before version 8.0, but the
behavior apparently changed in version 8.0...

The selected fields (not inline) has always been subject to permissions,
 but inline fields did not.

An inline field is somthing you put in the text such as:
Dear $Name$, you request $Short Description$ has been registered.

This may be slightly off topic, but when investigating this I also found
out that you can now set filters to run with the permissions of the User as
well as the System. This would be ideal to handle this situation where we
as developers can choose which setting to use for the Notify-filter.
Unfortunately this had no effect on the Notify filter at all...

Asset Management Keys and Versions 7.6.4

2013-06-20 Thread Pierson, Shawn
I worked extensively on Asset Management in 7.0.3, and while I've done some
things with it after upgrading to 7.6.4, I've not looked into this yet.
Specifically, my user is asking where to enter license key information. If I
do a search of forms, I see the Keys and Versions table, but I can't find a way
to get to it from either the Contract Management Console or the SAM Console.
It seems like going into a Software License Contract and adding a License
Certificate would be the right place to find it, but there are no fields such
as on the Keys and Versions form like License Key.

Does anyone have any idea how to get to this data?

Lost view in Database of T852

2013-06-20 Thread Eamonn O'Riordan
I seem to have lost a view in the database.

The error message I'm getting is

ARERR [552] Failure during SQL operation to the database : Could not use view
or function 'T885' because of binding errors. (SQL Server 4413)Invalid object
name 'T852'. (SQL Server 208)

This happened before about 5 years ago and the solution was to save the form
again which rebuilt the view. Unfortunately, since 5 years ago, auditors have
restricted the visibility of the database and I can't figure out which forms
relate to T852 and T885. Anybody able to offer a suggestion? Thanks Eamonn

The concept of License Keys is not speicifically captured, the recommendation
is to create a CI type document with this information and then relate it to the
Software Contract. You can also create a Work Info entry on the Software
Contract with the License Key as the Work Info Type.

The first answer will not require customization, the secound would.

Re: Any clue why this is happening?

2013-06-20 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

It has worked like this between 2.0 and 7.6, so fixing it in 8.0 will
certainly break a few systems.

My suggestion to use the new filter run-as System/User thing would give you
all the options. That would be the way to go I think.

Filters has always been running with Admin permissions. And the
notify-selected-fields has been pretty much the only exception to this rule.

And they logged this as a defect, right?

Something to think aboutmaybe this IS fixed

I have quite often seen things that when I upgrade, it breaks my system,
then as I investigate my problem, I find that in previous versions, proper
permissions weren't being applied to my data, and the upgrade fixed a
permissions hole that I was inadvertently using. So the upgrade in my
situations, while breaking my workflow, actually made my workflow work
correctly, and I needed to update the permissions on the system to allow my
workflow to work the way I intended it (not knowing I was taking advantage
 of a security hole)...

So...in this situation, if previous versions allowed field data to go out
in an email, when the recipient couldn't be verified to have proper
permission to that datathen the upgrade is properly enforcing
permissions, and there is NOT going to be a backwards slide in that
 security model...

That is exactly what I hear being discussed here...so I suspect if your
notifications are sending out information that the recipient can't be

up'd it to Change. No difference. I think I'll try change what field is

 Hello All,

We are stumped on an issue and was hoping someone on the list would have
an idea why this would be occurring after upgrading from ARS version 7.1
with it works on to 7.6.04 and now it does not. This is regarding Emails
being generated in a Filter by Notify contain a Subject line without
variable substitution. The message text is working okay. Any ideas?

 Here are the details:

The filter has the following set on it.

 Set Fields From: Task_Details_Join

 Set Field If
 'Task_Details_Request_ID' = $Request ID$

If No Requests Match: Set Fields to $NULL$
If Multiple Requests Match: Use First Matching Request

 Field Mapping:
 Field Name Value
 TempChar1 $OrderNumber$
 TempChar2 $LineTicketNumber$

 Notify
Notify Text: Order $TempChar1$, ticket number $TempChar2$, the task $Full
Task Name$ has been assigned to you as of $TIMESTAMP$.
 User Name: $Assigned_To_Email_Address$
 Priority: 0
 Mechanism: Email
 Subject: Order $TempChar1$ / # $TempChar2$ has a Task that has been
 assigned to you.

 Include Fields: None

When we check the filter log it shows
 Checking TASK-GA710-NOTAFY- New_Assignee`! (710)
 -- Passed -- perform actions
  0: Set Fields
TempChar1 (6) = ORDER_TIC-0971986
TempChar2 (60001) = 8097764-001
  1: Notify
Priority: 0 Mechanism: Email To:
  *tester1**@hp.com*gregg.lil...@hp.com
Order ORDER_TIC-0971986, ticket number 8097764-001,
the task 1.00.01 Add Line Item has been assigned to you as of 06/19/13
 13:34:31.
Order / # has a Task that has been assigned to you.

So you can see the Text did set the variables:

TempChar1 and TempChar2 but the same two variables are also used on the
Subject line and it just sets blank values in there. We have triple checked
to make sure that the same variables are used in the Set Fields, Notify
Subject and Notify Text and yet the Subject line the variables are NULL.

Any clues as to why this is occurring after an upgrade?

2013-06-20 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Thanks. The other thing I thought about was putting the license key in the
Certificate ID field of the License Certificate. I don’t know if that would
cause problems or not, but we have a few client apps that are licensed
individually so I’m trying to find a simple way to give them to track license
keys. Hopefully the person that made the decision to remove that functionality
(and leave the form around behind the scenes) is no longer a BMC employee.
It’s kind of dumb to have a Software Asset Management system that can’t even
track a license key.

Preventing a user from closing a dialog box on the web ....

2013-06-20 Thread Garrison, Sean (Norcross)
I was wondering if someone could help us with a requirement we have. We want
to make the risk questionnaire required. This means the user will not be
allowed to close the dialog until it is filled out. Is there a way to prevent
a user from closing a dialog box on the web? In our testing we found you can
hit the X in the corner to get around our requirement. We have the option
unchecked in the active link called Show Close Button. This works as desired
on the User tool. However, on the mid tier the user is presented with an
option of Leave this Page or Stay on this Page. Any way to prevent this or
any workarounds out there? I have a gut feeling the answer is No because it
is built in the browser to prevent this very scenario because of pop-up ads.

I have employed similar solutions too as simply displaying the error, closes
the dialog anyways. The solution is a bit flaky but it is what it is.

I just wish they would have not displayed that close box in a dialog in the
mid-tier.

We've done a variation of that, where the field maps back to the form only
when they did actually save (and not cancel or X out) - if they field is
blank we pop an error message and conveniently re-open the form for them.
Relentlessly :)

**

Why not just set a hidden field as a flag when the questionnaire is filled
out, and make an active link that pops up an error if they try to do
something like click Save without filling out the questionnaire and
setting that flag?

Thanks,

I was wondering if someone could help us with a requirement we have. We
want to make the risk questionnaire required. This means the user will not
be allowed to close the dialog until it is filled out. Is there a way to
prevent a user from closing a dialog box on the web? In our testing we
found you can hit the X in the corner to get around our requirement. We
have the option unchecked in the active link called Show Close Button.
This works as desired on the User tool. However, on the mid tier the user
is presented with an option of Leave this Page or Stay on this Page.
Any way to prevent this or any workarounds out there? I have a gut feeling
the answer is No because it is built in the browser to prevent this very
scenario because of pop-up ads.

Sean

Re: Lost view in Database of T852

2013-06-20 Thread Joe D'Souza
Its probably happened when there was a timeout when you were updating a
table after adding or dropping a field. When the table restructures the Tn
table gets copied to a new table TnA with the new table structure, copies
the contents of Tn to TnA, and then drops Tn and renames TnA to Tn.
Something in between might have failed and you probably now have a table
called T885A in your database.

** And turn on sql logging while saving the form will tell you what the
create statement is doing and hopefully give you a better idea as to why the
errors are occurring

I seem to have lost a view in the database.

The error message I'm getting is

This happened before about 5 years ago and the solution was to save the
form again which rebuilt the view. Unfortunately, since 5 years ago,
auditors have restricted the visibility of the database and I can't figure
out which forms relate to T852 and T885. Anybody able to offer a suggestion?
Thanks Eamonn

Preventing a user from closing a dialog box on the web ....

2013-06-20 Thread John Baker
Solution: Don't open a dialog. You can't prevent people from closing
windows, and popups can and will be blocked by browsers.

I'm also of the view that people don't like popups - they like UIs to
glide seamlessly between each other - but of course this is an entirely
subjective viewpoint :)
