If we do make a change to the Server Group Operation Ranking form we...

 1.) Make the change

3.) Restart the admin server and let it come up completely

 4.) Start the others

I'll skip the rather long laundry list of reasons we came up with that but
I will say that it works well when we do it this way. Also, it's nice to

Re: Mathematical Calculations

2014-03-31 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

To elaborate a little on the answer Fred gave.

You will probably need a temp-field (display-only) that you will store the
calcualated result in, and then display that in the message.

Action 1: Set-Fields: tmpint = $a$ + $b$
Action 2: Message: The result is $tmpint$

Best Regards - Misi, RRR AB, http://www.rrr.se (ARSList MVP 2011)

Ask the Remedy Licensing Experts (Best R.O.I. Award at WWRUG10/11/12/13):
* RRR|License - Not enough Remedy licenses? Save money by optimizing.
* RRR|Log - Performance issues or elusive bugs? Analyze your Remedy logs.
Find these products, and many free tools and utilities, at http://rrr.se.

A message box is really just a string so you would want to have 2 actions in
 your Active Link or Filter

Action 1 is a Set Fields to do your calculation
Action 2 is your Message action

So, I am trying to find out where all I can do the calculations. With your
explanation it seens we can do this calculations only in set field or push

What are you attempting to do?

If you want to perform a calculation and set the result to a field on the
 current
form... yes, the mechanism for that is a Set Fields.

What other mechanism would you need?

If you want to perform a calculation and set the result to a field on a
 different
form... well, you would be using a Push Fields operation for that and you can
 do
a calculation in a Push Fields operation.

If you want to perform a calculation as part of a qualification to do
 something
like compare the result of two fields to a third field, you can specify the
calculation as part of the qualification itself. Now, that qualification
 would
be in a Set Fields or Push Fields operation if in workflow or in the query
 that
you are issuing to the system if it is a direct query.

If you want to perform a calculation to compute a position or something to use
 in
a Function call, you can perform the calculation within the function parameter
itself. Of course, that function would be in a Set Fields or Push fields
 operation.

If this doesn't answer the question, you need to help us out by explaining
 what you
are trying to accomplish and where it is you want to be able to use a
 calculation.

Essentially, you should be able to use a calculation directly wherever it is
 appropriate to have a calculation.

Server ID changed?

We've got an old 6.3 server running on Solaris; after a restart this
morning due to database issues, it is now coming back as unlicensed.

The license keys are valid, but it appears as though the server has
forgotten its server ID. In the licenses section of the admin tool, the
AR System Server ID is blank.

I've never experienced such an issue, any suggestions how to set it back to
its prior (correct) value?

My kowledge of the hardware based host id stems from 15 years or so ago.

Dave,
We just had this problem. It has to do with the binding order of the NICs.
We had to turn off a NIC and then restart Remedy so the correct mac address

several restarts since then and the binding order seems to be correct now.
Have to determine which NIC has the correct Mac address for your licenses.

It is pretty easy to search for templates the folks have created and point out
ways that the templates can be improved (without pointing out that they were
created incorrectly!)

This works well for us.

Subject: Incident and Change template group usage permission

**

Dear List,

We are a managed service provider with a central service desk that supports our
various customers (tenants). A request came up today where they wanted a few
support personnel to have the ability to create templates for all customers and
groups (for which they have access to).

The template authoring group would be the Service Desk group under each company
and these few members would have Support Group Admin, this I am ok with. Now,
in order for these individuals to be able to select groups other than the
Service Desk group to be able to use the template, we would have to give them
Incident Config, which is something we are hesitant on giving out to non ITSM
admins.

Has anyone else run into this before and have any suggestions? I do not want
to go the route of adding them to ALL groups and giving them Support Group
Admin in ALL groups to accomplish this.

Regards,

_Brian

Just to closeout this issue:

BMC provided a fix. In 8.1, no provision had been made for any user to modify
-GLOBAL- RBE rules

Subject: RBE:Console, RBE:Worksheet

Environment:
ARS 8.1
ITSM 8.1
Windows 2008
Oracle

We rely heavily on the Email Engine and its capabilities to create update
Incidents. The Qualification on the OOB Rule Configuration Incident.Add
worklog on the Incident is ('Subject' LIKE RE:%) AND ('Subject' LIKE %INC0%)

We have migrated from the Blackberry to an iPhone. When a reply is done from
the iPhone, the Subject line is Re: not RE:. Having discovered this, the OOB
Rule Configuration Incident.Add worklog needs to be updated.

Problem: there is no visible Save button on the RBE:Worksheet. Yes, there is
a Save button on the form; visibility is permissioned to Email Rule Config. The
button's ALs are permissioned to Public. My partner  I are Email Rule Config;
we cannot see the button. I changed the button properties to Visible - we still
cannot view the button.

Anyone encountered this? Ideas? Assistance is greatly appreciated.

change location of a field

2014-03-31 Thread Wagner, Christoph
Dear listers,

is it possible to change the location of a field in a form with an active link
or something like that? To change the x- and y- coordinates or maybe the width
and height options as well?

Thank you very much for your help!

Regards
Christoph
