You could use AI to do this.

If this is a custom form and you don’t need the status history you could turn
this off which would remove the H table making the import a little easier.

Re: Import CSV on DB level in Remedy ARS 7.5

Thanks Misi,

Meta-Update will handle 500k files no problem. It has a “light footprint” not
requiring any changes to the Remedy server’s forms or workflow and can
completely eliminate the need for staging forms and workflow for imports.

A simple file import can usually be scripted in under an hour.

Meta-Update includes a single stepping debugger and robust facilities for every
data type in Remedy (attachments, currency, diary fields, even status history
fields) and can be used to automate any data operation through the API.

As an import tool it can handle poorly quoted CSVs, CSVs with values containing
embedded quotes or line feeds, and it can also update multiple records from
each CSV row or different forms for each row.

It is replete with auditing and logging facilities.

Trial licenses are free and come with our Live Install service which usually
results in your first business problem being solved.

New: We have an ITSM Archiving package – that handles a root request as a
single tree of data and will include your own tables and multi-tenant rules.
We also have a data migration package that will migrate from 7.0.3 to 8.1
including changing Change to Releases, fixing the CMDB, merging and renaming
product and operational catalogues, support groups, even operating companies.

without merge workflow.

Meta-Archive does ITSM Archiving your way: with your forms and your
multi-tenant rules, treating each root request as the tree of data and forms
that it is it is.

Re: Import CSV on DB level in Remedy ARS 7.5

2014-07-03 Thread Peter Romain
Yes, but on each record you will need to set the Request ID (Field 1) to a
unique number (padded up to 15 characters if you need to sort on this field)
and also set the other core fields.

If real data isn’t needed in the core fields you could set them to dummy values.

If your source database is accessible to the Remedy database then you could use
a view form to access the data directly rather than import it. You’d still need
to identify a unique key though.

2014-07-03 Thread Wesley Reyes
Hi Peter,

Thanks.  Our source actually is not from another DB but from a csv file. That
is why we are looking for a way to import the csv file without using the
dataimport tool as it takes us sometime to load the data inside the DB.

Thanks again :)

ARERR(330)

2014-07-03 Thread Gordon Frank
I am posting this because this drove me crazy and it ended up being
something simple.

1. I created a new user in CTM:People.
2. I added the ITSM Permissions that I thought they'd need and tried to
login as them and open a new Change Request.
3. Upon saving the Change, I got

You dont have write access to field:several background fields(ARERR 330)

4. After trying various things from BMC:Communites, I finally thought to
myself: I wonder if General Access permission is saved in the User form?

5. I looked and it wasn't there. I had assumed that General Access was
default, but you know the old saying about Assuming: A.s out of U and me!

6. Once I added this, everything worked normally.

I decided to add this to ARSList, because it drove me nuts for a while and
Communites was no help.

Let me know if this helps you some day?

ITSM upgrade 7.6.04

2014-07-03 Thread Hodgdon, Paul
All,
I wanted to get a feel for how feasible the following upgrade would be.

We have a 7.6.04 environment with the only SP being AR SP5. Our development
environment is one mid-tier/one AR server, test is one mid-tier/one AR server
and production 2 mid-tiers/2 AR servers.
The application was installed as root and we want to install the app on new
servers in each environment with a non-root user and install 7.6.04 ITSM SP5.
Is it possible to setup a dev environment of one mid-tier/one AR server with
7.6.04 SP5 and take our current production database on 7.6.04 to load into
development and using the MPS restore tool convert the 7.6.04 DB to our 7.6.04
SP5 installed DB?

One of the things we want to do through this process is also get production
data into our dev/test systems.

The other alternative I was thinking of is building a new 7.6.04 environment,
moving over the DBs from our existing environment then doing an in-place
upgrade on ITSM SP5.

Thoughts?

Re: ITSM upgrade 7.6.04

2014-07-03 Thread William Rentfrow
This is totally doable, provided you take care (as it seems you have) to make
sure all of the patch levels you install on the new server will get installed
on the server you are cutting over from prior to the switch.

The root vs non-root part isn't a big deal for the most part. Non-root
installs are the only way to install that make any sense security wise to most
of the customers I have worked with, so there are occassional challenges, but
nothing you can get around.

There are a bunch of places you will have to change the server name reference
manually after you are done. I did this a couple of years ago. Not counting
custom workflow you don't have to mess with code though. You just need to
update the server name in a bunch of forms. BMC actually had a document they
gave to us which told us all of the places to edit things. It was stuff like
the help file URL in the SHARE:Application Properties, etc. I think it was
about an hour's worth of work if you just sat down and did it.

Sweety,
From Server Information --Server Event tab you can enable event for
Archive. Check the Archive Checkbox.
One This Is enabled and after first run open Server Event Form and Search
for Event Type 14

You will find Entry for the Form on which Archive is enabled.
Event Type=14
Event Cause=2
Event Details1= Schema Name
Event Detail 2= (Example 78 of 80) meaning 80 qualifying record 78
successfully processed
Event Date=Archive Run Date and Time ( this will give you the time when
last record was archived so you can calculate run time by subtracting
archive start time )
Submitter=AR_ARCHIVER

FTS 8.1 Administration Questions

2014-07-03 Thread Hynes, Douglas
Greetings,

Our group is beginning the testing of Knowledge Management (RKM). Of the many
things this entails is nailing down the FTS configuration. The most I've been
able to find in terms of configuring the FTS is the AR System Administration
FTS Configuration Form, but this still leaves me with questions:

* In a previous ARS Listing someone asked how to determine the size
requirements for the BMC Software\ARSystem\ftsconfiguration\collection
directory. I get that no one can really estimate this for you as it's dependent
on how much stuff you have in your system. My question here is: how do I get
a good estimate of how much stuff I have. Is there a directory or a command
that I can use? Should I base it off of some part of the SQL DB? How did any of
you decide on what size storage to use?

o Link:
http://ars-action-request-system.1093659.n2.nabble.com/Recommended-size-for-FTS-index-collection-directory-td7581791.html

* Occasionally, the BMC Software\ARSystem\ftsconfiguration\collection
directory grows wildly and then appears to wipe old records from this folder
and the size returns to something manageable.

o Is this due to an auto-indexing?

o Can a threshold be set on how much storage is used for the indexing?

o Can a schedule be set for when it needs to dump old records (if this is
even what it's actually doing)?

* If we use the failover FTS functionality recently released (in 8.1.01
I think), is it safe to assume that we'll need this space on the backup servers
as well?

Cheers,
-Doug

Hi,

Why not import it into a table you create yourself. Then you create a View

better, and it is also supported.
