We have multiple ARServer licenses listed in License Review form on v7.6.4.
How to check which one is currently active and is being used by the remedy?

Hi David,

Reported Source field is a Selection Field (DropDown) with OOTB 12 values on
both HPD:;Help Desk and SYS:Reported Source forms. We can create the overlay
and add additional values into the drop down list for any additional values.

Hope this helps you.

Hi,

What does the Add/Remove Licenses form say? Do you see 3 AR Server licenses
there, and does the Host IDs match the license key and your 2 problematic
servers?

Odd licensing issue...I exported out the license information from one
of the app servers I have in a 3 server group. Then we rebuilt the
boxes from scratch. Neither names nor IPs changed. After the ARS
install on the first box, I imported the licenses that I'd exported
earlier. The first box will then allow for the other installs to go
(Atrium, ITSM, SRM and SLM). However, the second and third boxes, upon
initiating the install of Atrium, indicate that they are not licensed. Has
 anyone seen this before possibly?

EMail Message address issue

2014-07-25 Thread Drake, David
Good morning
Hoping someone may have seen this behavior before:
We're trying to track down an issue where Email messages are being created in
the Email messages form with the Alias information put in the From and/or To
fields instead of the matching smtp address. For example, a message sent to our
Exchange mailbox by me is read by the email engine and parsed into a message in
the AR System Email Messages form with Drake, David showing up in the From
field instead of david.dr...@kbslp.commailto:david.dr...@kbslp.com.
Therefore, when the incident from that message gets created, it fails the user
lookup (which is looking for that smtp address)
It doesn't happen all the time and no errors are logged to the AR Email
Messages Error Log

Since you say it doesn't happen all the time you may want to double check the
inbound source email and compare one that works from one that doesn't by doing
the following:

In the Email Messages form Choose Display Advanced Options = Yes
Go to the Advanced Options tab then the Attachment Alternatives tab
The true source is in the Email attachment. Save it to Disk and open it with
WordPad. You can then compare the From: values to see if there is a difference
in the structure of one that works vs one that doesn't.

I need to collaborate with some of you SQL pro's out here to work with
me to fetch a list of forms that may have indexes defined in Remedy that
may violate a very basic rule in most standard RDBMS's. Indexes in most
RDBMS's (Oracle, MS-SQL, Informix etc) that a Remedy server might be
using, need to have indexed fields of less than 255 characters in length
to the best of my knowledge. First of all I want to CONFIRM that this
rule is true for all RDBMS's..

If it is true, then I ran a query to find any fields that may be indexed
and violating this basic rule..

I can share this query with you if you want to join me on a collaborated
effort to list all schemas that have fields that are indexed that may
indeed be greater than 254 characters.

Any volunteers? I have a ready query I can share with you..

need to consider migration. I remember trying to migrate files from

Scope related questions important too - what goes in what stays out what
gets public what stays internal.

Role related questions - who are subject matter experts - who are the
techs who would compose the initial articles..

Categorization related questions - to separate lets say IT related stuff
from HR...

You migjt also want to discuss the lifecycle of these KB articles.. when
to revise, when to retire..

These are the things that come to me at the top of my mind..

Good morning all,

We're working on implementing Knowledge Management 7.5 in our
environment. Does anyone have a list of questions they used in their
own implementation when coming up with functional requirements. I know
there are any number of ways to do it, just looking for a list that I
can borrow from. Thanks

Couldn't agree more. Worked with Carrie several times. She's absolutely
brilliant!

Good – all of you can help nominate her for BMC Employee Beyond The Call of
Duty award in 2010. When I hit a snag in RKM, usually when installing a new
test setup or patching an existing one (the installers are problematic, and I
like to break new stuff), she’s on the phone in 15 minutes!! NO other product
in the entire BMC suite gets this quality of support!!!

Carrie R. from BMC is great when it comes to RKM. She definitely knows her
stuff.

I did the same thing last night..

We are now on 7.5. But I had issues with SS 6.1 patch 5. I do not understand
why. It was just a war file but the display would be blank.. We were having
funky issues with 7.2 ... So while it was down I jumped.. Great move.

I ask carrie to help me with it,,, she is the best in the world .. IMHO

Hi Patrick,

I have now solved this with some excellent help form a BMC Support
person in India. We un-installed RKM 7.5 patch 1and installed RKM 7.5 instead.
It worked fine with no problems at all. I doubt if I will move to patch 1
though!

As I see BMC support criticised at times in ARlist, I would like to
take this opportunity to thank them on their excellent response to my issue,
which included a webex session on my server and 90 mins of the individuals time.

I have specifically installed this.. but was informed (because I was
going too) following the readme, and installation instructions Very
Carefully...

and it will work perfectly.

IF you have the older version previous 7.1, you have alot of deleting
users, groups, forms, AL, workflow.

Hi all,

Has anybody successfully installed RKM 7.5? I am trying to on a MS 2003
web server running IIS 6 and failing. Issues I have had so far are:-

1. Install of integration with ITSM failed when it attempted to load
the RKM def file and supposedly got an error from it.

2. Tomcat fails on startup seemingly trying to connect to a database
using a login of RKMAdmin.

I resolved 1. By importing all the def files manually with no problems.
BMC have confirmed that having done this my install should be ok.

2 is not resolved. Why is it trying to connect to a database when at no
time during the install did it ask for any details about a database?

Any observations\suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks
Brian
