Re: ITSM 7.6.04 Preconfigured Stack installer:Help needed

2011-05-15 Thread Gopal-SRG
Hi Danny/David,
Its the problem with the memory. We are using base for ITSm as vm and sme
reason it hold of the memeroy its been allocated , rebooted the Linux box
and its a magic ITSM7604 got installed (it took around 2-3
hours).Installation is successful but with sme warning message.
I need to fix those warning msg now - Wrt to Emailengine loggin.properties
update operation (not enough permission).Attached is the installation log
img of that warning.

Please do the needful

 Hi,

Well you are not out of memory and you are not swapping. So the only real
thing much be CPU or hard disk.

So I assume you are using Oracle. Is it on the same machine?

If you are using linux, I use mpstat and that can tell you the CPU and
 more
importantly the core usage. If you are using Oracle, and you don't have an
enterprise license, then thats probably your bottleneck.

AS for HDD, check you are not running out by

 df -kh .

I would connect the enterprise manager console, normally running on port
1158. This will tell you how it is performing. Finally, something I always
do with any BMC installation, is turn on the sql logs. Yes it will create
 a
file the size of a house but you can use this to see if the server is
actually doing something when the installer looks like it hasn't for hours
on end. You are not interested in the detail but if you see sql statements
being run then you know its just slow. With that tail -f logFile is your
 friend.

Hope this helps you to get started,
 Regards
 Danny

 Hi Gopal,

Was this an upgraded (or moved) system? If so, have you had server
 statistics on in the past?

I ran into a problem with a past system where the system kept shutting
 down
and restarting - it was thinking it was an eval copy but there were more
than the limit of Server Statistic records in the DB which kept it from
starting correctly. In that case, I needed to have the DB truncate the
 server statistics table (was
 t4 in that system).

As stated previously, you should check the error logs, but if it's also
telling you that the system is an eval copy (would show in the AR Error
log), you may also want to see how many records are in the Statistics
 table.

Re: ARS 7.5 License Key

2011-04-05 Thread Gopal-SRG
Hi Uday/LJ,
When i checked for the armonitor.conf file in our system, it is present in
the below location
./remedy/ar/ITSM/telstra01/BackUp/armonitor.conf
./remedy/ar/AtriumCore/telstra01/BackUp/armonitor.conf

But the armonitor is not present in the
./remedy/ar/ARSystem/conf/

When ever i start my ARSystem, the armonitor is eventually called from the
above location at the startup.
Will this be a problem?(armonitor file not present as part of the ARSystem
conf folder)
Havnt commented any startup sh fiels in the armonitor conf.Just to confirm
the folder relocation before commenting it

Please guide us through this

Regards,
Gopal

Did u put the Debug-mode : 17; line in your ar.conf file and then start
the server it will automatically generate the AR SQL, AR API and AR Thread
logs. also make sure you attach the files that are from the same time span
so its easy to co relate.

Unique Values for webservice

Hi all,
I am using remedy ars/midtier 6.3.
I have created a webservice with operation getlist for a form.In this

In those fields in the form, some of the fields values have been present more
than once.

Will it be possible from the remedy end itself to retrive only the unique
values and it as output mapping?

If I'm understanding what you wrote below correctly, you created or

you'll need to switch that to the SYSTEM environment variable for your web

you start your service, because the directory is not in the system Path

Moving to the 7.5 api may help solve that problem. The issue being that
 in

7.5 it's all in one...if that's not really an option for you, I suggest
'looking' for the ARInitialization class file in one of the jar files,
 and
once you find it, ensure that one is part of the class path.

 Gopal,
You would look at the constructor for the Class ViewForm, setting the
appropriate values for setTableName and setKeyField, adding any fields as
appropriate, then call the ARServerUser.createForm method with that form
 object.

We need to get some clarification with respect to the Arschema and Form
Name.

I am creating a Form through AR Admin tool, i wiil be giving a Form Name and
it will make an entry in aradmin.arschema corresponding to the form name.
If i am renaming the form name in the arschema through the UPDATE Query,
will it be reflecting in the ARAdmin tool -- Form Objects?
Any other way to change the form_name after it has been saved?

is no fault of ARInside, but would be a bug in the AR Server. You can

Re: View forms and Remedy Schema tables

2010-05-21 Thread Gopal-srg
Hi Ben,
Sorry for misleading you by putting question in wrong way.

Here Prev6 means Remedy View form created in ARS (versions prior to
version ARS v6.x)

view forms(Created using Native SQL Prev6) - means remedy view forms
createdd with Native SQL query which will query to other DB tables to get
the data.

Thanks for ur information.

Regards,
Gopal

Ben Chernys wrote:

I read view forms(Created using Native SQL Prev6) in your email. You
cannot make a view form in Oracle. You can make an Oracle View. Also
you can make that view in any instance and under any id or schema - not
necessarily the ARS one. I also do not understand what Prev6 is.

If the view was created in SQL, ARS will not know of it. You will have to
create an ARS View table pointing to the Oracle view if you want ARS to
 know
 about it.

You will see only ARS defined objects - View Forms for example - in the
 ARS
 tools.

You can query Oracle for views tables etc. I suggest you read up a bit on
ARS, Oracle, and get an Oracle database tool that presents you a graphical
interface like Toad or one from Oracle. I also suggest you brush up on
 forming SQL queries.

 Good luck,
 Ben

Hi frank,
Thanks for the explanation.I have tested this field, it is generating the

Is there any way to do it without involving workflows?

The communication is Sun RPC over TCP.

If you want to know exactly which calls ARUser makes, you can set the

 resulting arapires.log and arapicmd.log.

You can also turn on Client- or Server-side API-logging.

say it as users, bcoz we have tried accessing the Application entry point

different machines. It was working fine in some machines and in some it is
not working).

I have cleared the arf/arv files in the local machine ARHome, but its not
working.

Can you please tell us, is there any other location(client as well as in
server) that we have to clear the arv/arf cache files?

By using the arapires/arapicmd logs we found that the second ARExport which
should retrieve the view of the form is not at all happening.

Try touching the objects involved, thus forcing a recache. You have to
figure out how to enable the save-button without doing any real change.
For example by changing a fields db-name, restoring it, and then hitting

 Hi,

ARExport-calls may not result in SQL-calls, if the data is cached on the
 server.

Do you see this problem for all users on all clients?

Have you tried removing all ARF/ARV-files?

Try touching the objects involved, thus forcing a recache. You have to
figure out how to enable the save-button without doing any real change.
For example by changing a fields db-name, restoring it, and then hitting
 the save-button.

 Hi all,
As per the below analysis(Please read the below thread), we have went
further analysis and found out that the two ARExport,

First ARExport call - export the Form
Second ARExport call - export the view

This view export is not happening, please help us in resolving this
 issue.

 Hi Jason/Brain Bishop,

I am facing the same issue in ITSM 7.5 pathc001 installation(User
client). When we analysed, found why it was happening but workaround not
 able to figure it out.

Reason for non-response of Application entry poit for Incident/Problem
 :
Below analysis is done using the Server logs/API logs and in comparison
with the logs of others user who are able to access properly and also
 the
logs for Asset/Change management which were accessed properly through
 their entry points.

Whenever the form is opened newly(not cached in user client machine)
 following sequence was happening,
1.Through API ARExport is called which calls many sql based
transactions, then the current API execution ends
2.Again one more time the ARExport is called, but in this case no sql
 transcations were made
3.At last, arInvokeForm is called follwed by the active link processing

But in our case for Incident/Problem this ARExport is happening only
 once
 after that nothing happens.

we dont know the how to solve this problem becuase these ARExport calls
are made by the API's.We tried to replace the arapi.dll in the User
installation directory(client) with dll file from the working system,
 this
 also didnt work.
we are stuck up with this.

 Hi Jason,

I have seen the same issue on a 7.5 patch 1 install user tool. I spent
 quite
some time trying to figure out why the links to the Incident and
 Problem
management consoles did nothing yet the other links worked. It was
 from
 a
user tool installed on the server, windows 2003 running 7.5 and ITSM
 7.5,
but I found that if I logged on as the same user, Demo, from my laptop
running XP pro it worked. I sat looking at it for some time but
 couldn't
figure it out. I know find, 2 weeks later, that it works on the server
 now!

However I now have another issue where I have a user who cannot see
 any
 of
the links to the Asset consoles, even though they are in the correct
 roles,
unless I put them in the Administrator group. I have checked
 permissions
 on
the forms and all is fine.

So if there is anybody out there who understands how this works,
 please
share. My installation is Server 7.5 patch 1 on a windows 2003 server
 using
Oracle 10g. User tool is 7.5 patch 1 as well. Full ITSM 7.5.01 as
 well.

ARValidateFormCache

2010-03-30 Thread Gopal-srg
Hi all,
Need to know some information the ARValidateFormCache API call.Have gone
through the API Programmer's PDF, but it describes only about API
function/Struct definition.

In our client, even we clear the local file cache(ARHome), when we try to
access an application entry point link(previously application is opened and
closed, after that the cache were cleared and in same login session) this
ARValidateFormCache API has been called.

We though that this API will be called only when the files are in the local
client cache(ARHome), but this is not the case.

Is this ARValidateFormCache refereing to any cache made in server? If so, in
server(ARS 7.5 - Linux OS ) were the cache files are stored?

Please guide us in solving this issue.

Regards,
Gopal

Re: AR System Clients and API's

2010-03-29 Thread Gopal-srg
Hi,
Thank you for this information.I have gone through these logs, it is really
of great help.
But i wanted to know one more thing, how these commands are getting
initiated from the User tool, which file from the ARUser installed directory
initiates this command sequence.

Please provide this info, it will be of great help.

Gopal

 Hi,

The ARUser uses the C-API as described in the Programmers Guide PDF.

The communication is Sun RPC over TCP.

If you want to know exactly which calls ARUser makes, you can set the
environment variable ARAPILOGGING=1 before starting it, and read the
 resulting arapires.log and arapicmd.log.

You can also turn on Client- or Server-side API-logging.

 Hi all,
Need to now how the BMC Remedy User Client works with C API(existing
communication) to access the AR Server(No custom API).Is there any
 documents
 that clearly describes this communication?

Please someone provide information on this, it will be of great help.
