Re: Email notifications being sent to obsolete users? Remedy 7.5

2013-08-16 Thread James Lauber
We had the same issue in our 7.6.03 environment, and there is an article
on the support site that discusses the fix. Here are the details from the
article for 7.5. The 7.6.03 fix resolved the issue for us. Hope this
helps.

On From CTM:SupportGroupAssocPeopleLookUp and
Form CTM:SupportGroupFunctionalRolePeopleLookUp
Create new Field
From CTM:People
Create Profile Status
On NTE:SYS-NT Process Control form
Modify the table qualification for table z2TH_SupportGroupFuncRoleLookUp
and z2TH_SupportGroupLookUp by adding AND 'Profile Status' = Enabled

Email notifications being sent to obsolete users? Remedy 7.5

**
I noticed yesterday that when tickets were assigned to groups, we were
getting “Undeliverable” messages back from the mail server. All of these
were notifications (A ticket has been assigned to your group…) that appear
to have been sent to users who are no longer with the organization, and
whose profiles in Remedy are Obsolete.

I’ve gone in and changed these Obsolete users to Non-Support. Is there
something I should be doing differently? This is what we’ve been doing
for years and it’s only come up as a problem in the past 2 days.

Thanks!

Mid Tier 8.1 and IE 8

2013-06-27 Thread James Lauber
We're starting to plan an upgrade from 7.6.03 to 8.0 or 8.1, for both ARS
and ITSM. In looking through the known issues for both versions, the issue
of degraded performance with IE 8 and the 8.1 mid tier jumped out at me.
We currently use IE 8 and an upgrade to 9/10 is not scheduled until late
this year or early next year. An alternate browser is also not an option,
at least not without much begging and pleading, and then several months of
testing.

My question is, how common is the performance degradation? Has anyone
experienced this first hand? We'd like to take advantage of some of the
new 8.1 features, so it might be worth trying if this is more of an
intermittent issue. Any experiences you'd like to share would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

2013-06-27 Thread James Lauber
There isn't anything in the documentation that says what causes the issue,
but the defect description says it is a Microsoft issue that won't be
fixed without an extended hotfix agreement. The workaround provided is to
use IE 9 or an alternate browser.

7.6.03 Approval Server Error

2011-08-15 Thread James Lauber
I've been researching an approval server error for a couple of days now.
From what I can see in the approval engine log, whenever the New-Details
command is called, and no future approvers are found by the Get Next
Approver rule, an error is written to arerror.log.

Fri Aug 12 16:23:02 2011 Approve : Operation cancelled due to error
(ARAPPNOTE 4502)
Fri Aug 12 16:23:02 2011 New-Details - CHG:Infrastructure Change -
CRQ00104074

I found an article in the knowledge base that discussed this behavior, and
stated that it is working as designed. I've tried a couple of things to
try to avoid having this written to arerror.log:

1. Created a filter on AP:Detail that changes the status from Error to
Approved when there are no future approvers

2. Modified the various Approval Process Done - Error rules to set
TempApprovalServerResult to Approved instead of Error.

Obviously, neither of these worked, or else you wouldn't be reading this.
I'd really like to find a way to keep these unnecessary entries from
cluttering up the log. Has anyone else noticed this behavior and possibly
come up with a good workaround/fix?

We had a similar, but not identical, issue with inserting to tables via a
linked server. We added this to the ardb.cfg file, restarted the service
and it resolved the issue. Don't know if it will help for your problem but
it's worth a shot.

All,

ARS 7.1 p4
WINXP
SQL2000

We are migrating all of our databases except ARSYSTEM to SQL2008. There are
external processes which we have view forms to other database table. I
then use these view forms to update and delete records. That table will be
moving to SQL2008

In order to keep this functionality we created a linked sever between the
Arsystem 2000 db server and the 2008 db server. We then created views on
the 2000 server that looks at tables on the 2008 server. I then created
view forms to these views. I am trying to update data in these views which
will then be pushed to the actual tables in the 2008 database. The problem
we are running in to is this:

some suggestions on how to accomplish this.

Data Load Utility Timeout

2009-02-27 Thread James Lauber
Morning list. I'm working on importing about 250 people records using the
ITSM 7.0.03 data load utility, and I am encountering a timeout error every
time I try to promote the validated data. Once I click Promote, I get 4
records in DLD:ThreadManager and one DLD_OUT_CREATE record in CAI Events
with a return message of Running. I check the People and User forms and
the first record from the staging form has been created as expected, but
that is it. Within a few minutes, the CAI Events record has the return
message ARSetEntry - Timeout during database update -- the operation has
been accepted by the server and will usually complete successfully. The
status in the data load console remains In Progress. I've killed the
process and tried 5 times so far, with the same result each time.

This is a Win 2003 VM, 1.5 gig ram, SS 2005, ARS 7.0.01 patch 3. Thanks in
advance for any advice.

I'm not sure if this is related to your problem or not, but we had Data
Load jobs get stuck In Progress and had to be killed to clear.  The
problem turned out to be that the admin user we were running the job with
(e.g., Demo) did not have the proper ITSM config/admin foundation
priviliges to update the fields.  You know like Config Categorization
Admin, Contact Support Admin, etc.  We got no errors, the jobs would just
get stuck.  Once we granted the proper privileges to that user, the jobs
completed without a hitch.

Also, if you have customized your People form, look for required fields or
dependencies that might choke the Data Load job.

Chuck Baldi

the first record from the staging form has been created as expected, but

Thanks
  in
  advance for any advice.

William, did you check the group list on the user form? I have noticed in
our ARS 7.0, ITSM 7.0.2, environment that this sometimes gets out of synch
with the permissions listed in the ITSM people form, causing users to
report the same error. Adding the missing permissions again through the
people form pushes the correct group IDs back to the user form. Usually. If
you see placeholder in the group list, you have to clear it out and add
back all their permissions.

It is configured for multi-tenancy but there is only one company defined
(not counting the My Company of course).

I'll check and see if there's anything tied to that thoughgood idea!

** Dear Perplexeder, I mean William,

Is this a multi-tenancy environment? If so, could it be related to that?

In IM 7.03 on ARS 7.1 patch 001 (Solaris) all users who are not AR
Administrators get the typical You do not have a license/You do not have
write access to field xxxyyyzzz (ARERR 9850) and then a list of all of
the fields on the IM form. This happens only when trying to modify
  existing requests.

Normally I'd assume the people don't have licenses. However, this is not
true. They have both Incident user licenses (and corresponding correct
permissions) and AR user licenses. We've got 40 of each applied to this
server and about 5 users so far so we are not out of licenses.

Even more weird this is a 7.1 server so it's not like the license keys
are bad or something - the AR Server license is correct and all is well
in that regard as far as I know (ie, the server accepted the key).

I went so far as to create a new custom form and have the users create
and then modify the request. If they didn't have an AR User license they
would not be able to do this. As it turns out it worked correctly - they
could create (no license needed) and then modify the same request
  (license absolutely 100% needed).

The only other relevant fact I can think of is that the server is is
submitter-locked modebut that shouldn't matter either.

  I'm perplexed.
