Re: Crystal Report Calculation Question

I don't think you can do a summary there - you need to use a running total
instead.

[ARSLIST] Crystal Report Calculation Question

**
All,
I am trying to calculate (add together) a formula field that is in group
footer 2.

For some reason i can not do a summary of the formula field because it
does not come up in the fields to be summarized.
The formula field is defined as Hours and has a formula of :
{CSC_SES3_WOI_WII_Work_Order_Join.csc_dec_estimated_hours} *
DistinctCount ({CSC_SES3_WOI_WII_Work_Order_Join.csc_dec_estimated_hours},
{CSC_SES3_WOI_WII_Work_Order_Join.Summary})
This works fine.
However now i need to add all the values from this formula and place it in
the group footer 1 section so it will calculate all the time spent for all
the entries under Group 1.
Can not seem to find how to do this.
I have tried just adding the same formula field to the Group 1 footer
section but that just gives me the last entry in group 2 footer and does
not add all the sections together.
Any ideas?

What date format do you have set in Windows (Control Panel >> Regional and
Language Options)? I believe the client will use these settings by
default.
You should be able to set a different date format for the client under
Tools >> Options >> Locale.

I still remember the best definition of the word "Expert" I ever heard.

X is the mathmatical symbol for the unknown.
A Spurt is water under pressure.

Therefore, an Expert is an unknown drip under pressure. I think many of
us might qualify ourselves there...

I've got another one that is self-depreciating humor. I had been
debating the benefits of specializing in something like Remedy rather
than becoming something more generic like a VB developer. He would say
that it was too narrow of a field so there wouldn't be as many jobs, but
I argued that the narrowness of the field meant that there were less
people who could do it, thus improving the ratio of jobs to applicants
in our favor, and that it would pay better as a result.

Anyway, a Dilbert comic came out that fit into our debate, except that I
had to change the punch line.

2007-06-06 Thread Joanne Mansur
Back before we switched from basic plus to 24x7 support, we would often
pay for the extra service for a weekend of

since the coverage helped

[ARSLIST] Support Contracts and Escalations and Case Creations A la carte

Just wondering if anyone has be given any a la carte support options
from BMC (not any authorized partners). Specifically during upgrade
periods and production cut overs.

Is there a per incident fee for issues that need to be escalated or
created beyond the standard response times listed for agreed upon
support level. If I needed to escalate a case and I was on the basic
support plan, could I escalate an urgent case based upon some per
incident fee? If so what are the prices for doing such an escalation or
creation of cases?

Thanks

Re: saving data as csv file

2006-09-12 Thread Joanne Mansur

I open files using taskpad (freeware
download) - it's easy to read and doesn't lose the formatting.
We have a special field for emplid which
can have leading zeros and often causes
chaos when someone opens the import
file in excel and saves it. All the zeros disappear.
Since I've strongly encouraged the use
of taskpad the havoc has been lessened.

Re: [ARSLIST] saving data as csv file

Mimi,

There are 2 methods for opening a .csv file to see if your formatting is
correct.
More work / Easier to Read - Rename the .csv file
to .txt and then
open the new file in Excel and pay special attention
to the format
      for each column.
Less work / Harder to Read - Open the .csv file with
notepad.

Hope this helps.

Mimi,

If you mean you’re losing the formatting of the xls file when saving as
a
csv file, here’s the fix. If you’ve already changed the cell formats
in
xls, do it again in the csv file (date formats, etc.).  When everything
looks the way you want it, save the csv file and DON’T OPEN it again to
see

if it’s still formatted properly.  If you do you’ll see that the
format has

been lost and you’ll need to format again.  If you have a Case ID
with
leading zeroes,  change the format of those to Custom and enter
000 (15 0’s) or however many you have as your input length.
It
took me a while to get the hang of this, but now I have no problem
importing into Remedy.

HTH,
Ricki Haines
