Midtier screen is blank
ARS 6.3 Patch 21 Midtier 7.0.1 Oracle 10g ITSM 6.0 One remote user opens up the Requester form, but it is blank. We deleted temporary internet file, cookies, and rebooted the pc. We get no error message, just a blank screen with Done on the left bottom corner of the screen. Coworkers at the remote site are able to open up the Requester and enter tickets. Column Width problem when printing web arr report
ARS 6.3 Windows 2003 Midtier 7 Patch 2 IE 6 Oracle 10g HD 6 We have an .arr report for solutions that our requests can use to print solutions from the web. When they press the Print button on the solutions form from the web, the arr report is displayed in IE. The report shows the solution number, the summary and the details of the solution. You can scroll to the right to see the entire summary and description if they are lengthy and the fields have no carriage return. The problem is column width when printing. When they choose FilePrint in IE, if the solution summary and /or description fields don't have a carriage return or are length they truncate. People on the client use these same solutions. If the solution summary and/or description fields are short enough it is not a problem but frequently they are longer than 30 characters. I've tried changing the report from portrait to landscape and more is captured when printing but is still truncated. We don't want to have to add carriage returns to all the solutions and somehow make sure people add carriage returns at a certains point. I've changed the .arr file field widths but these changes do not show up on the web. I logged into the web config tool and looked at Report Settings. There weren't any settings to check. Changed AR User Preference form for my userid, even though I'm using the web. At the report tab, changed width for reports. This made no difference when on the web. Tried changing the arr report to narrower columns, displaying columns, displaying records, and long fields wrapped. The web ignores these settings. The AL on the print button shows Report Type: AR System, Target: Screen, Operation: Run, Location: Reporting form Name: Name in the Report form Location is New How can I get the solution .arr report on the web to use report column widths in the report or at least fit on the page when printing? ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org ARSlist:Where the Answers Are
Printing on the web using arr report column width problem
ARS 6.3 Midtier 7 patch 2 HD 6 Oracle 10g Windows 2003 We have an .arr report for solutions tht our requesters can use to print solutions from the web. When they press the Print button on the solution form from the web, the arr report is displayed in IE. The report shows the solution number, the summary and the details of the solution. You can scroll to the right to see the entire summary and description if they are lengthy and have no carriage return in the text. The problem is column width wehn printing. When they choose FilePrint when in IE, if the so summary and/or description fields don't have a carriage return or are brief, the solution truncates when printing. People on the client use the same solutions, but we have column width control on the client side. Most of the time the summary and/or description data is more than 30 characters wide. I've tried changing changing in IE the print to landscape and more is printed but is still truncated. I don't want to have to add carriage returns in all the solution summaries and descriptions after only 30 characters. When you run the report on the client they would look strange. I went into the web config mgr and looked at Report Settings. Nothing there to check. Changed AR user preferences at the Report tab. Increased the width but made no difference; this was probably for client not web. How can I get the solution .arr report on the web to use print out column widths as designed or at least fit on the page when they print them? PC and Monitor relationship failure importing data into cmdb 1.1 AM 6.0
ARS 6.3 AM 6.0 CMDB 1.1 Oracle 10g I am having problems creating relationships in cmdb 1.1 between monitors and pcs. The data is being imported into cmdb, not from another remedy form. I am not getting the monitor instance id for the import into BMC_Components. Here's what I've done. I've imported pc asset data from a spreadsheet into BMC:BMC_Computer Systems. The form now contains pc data. I imported data into the BMC:BMC_Monitor form from the same spreadsheet, different columns. That looked good. I had monitor data in both the BMC:BMC_Monitor and BMC:BMC_HardwareSystemComponents forms. I used Dataset ID = BMC.Asset in both import files, pc import the ClassID was BMC_ComputerSystem, and monitor import the ClassID was BMC_Monitor. I imported data into the SampleLookupInstIDMemory form, from the same spreadsheet but when I look at the data the monitor instance ids are blank. The computer systems instance ids are filled in as well as the pc and monitor asset ids. I opened up both the monitor and hardware SystemsComponent forms and they both have the same instance id value. I expected the SampleLookupInstIDMemory form to have the Monitor instance id. How do I get the monitor instance id populated in form SampleLookupInstIDMemory so that I can finish the relationship in BMC_Components? I am able to create relationships with the pc and monitor imported data thru the GUI. ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org ARSlist:Where the Answers Are

Arerror 90 after server reboot
ARS 6.3 HD 6.0 Oracle 10g windows 2003 For the last few months remedy does not come back up successfully after the server has been restarted for routine server maintenance. Remedy does come back up when it is stopped/restarted on a nightly basis for oracle backups. This had been happening on our production server. Today, it started happening on our development server. If I stop and restart the services, I can log on. But I may not always be here to stop/restart the services. When I log into remedy after server maintenance, I get arerror 90. When I look at services, remedy ars and email engine are both started. I checked the arerror log. The error says failure while trying to connect to the sql database, arerror 550. ORA-12560 tns:orotocol adapter error. Cannot initialize conact with sql database (arerr 551). I can log into sqlplus as aradmin. If I stop and restart the services, remedy comes up. I spoke with the oracle dba who indicated that the startup process may have changed and that maybe all of the networking services are not ready to communicate when remedy is starting. When I contact systems people (those that restart the server), and ask if anything has changed I get a no response. Since this problem started, oracle no longer goes down nightly for backups. Remedy still stops and restarts every night successfully. The problem started before oracle backups were stopped. What could be interferring with remedy coming back up after a server reboot? ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org ARSlist:Where the Answers Are
Forms overlaying
ARS 6.3 hd 6 oracle 9i windows 2003 I open a display only form from a link on the management console, then open the Solutions form by double clicking a value in the tablefield in this display only form. The Solutions form opens and the data is correct. The problem is the Solutions form is underneath the display only form. I have to close the display only form to see the Solutions form. I have tried opening the Solutions form in an active link as a Dialog window type and also as a Modify window type. What do I need to look at/change to get the Solutions form to appear on top of the display only form? Liz ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at http://www.wwrug.org
