Sorry about that I always forget version.

We are on 7.6.04. And this worked thanks. I knew it was something simple but
could not recall where it was.

Did you follow any recommendation from support, which has consistently told me
to set inline normalization OFF to cure a multitude of sins:

" On both servers, change the CMDB-Inline-Normalization parameter in ar.cfg
from T to F, and then restart the ARS service. After this change and restart,
you will see the error going away and an improved performance on the server."

They also told me to do this, which was also buried in a tech bulletin:

Configuration tab
Set Normalization Features to "Version Normalization" for ALL
datasets

OK I'm getting smarter at this. I had "Normalize All Instances" deselected.
I selected it and ran my job and it did normalize the two CI's I've been
testing with. So the scheduled normalization works, but Inline does not seem
to be working.

Thanks Dan, that's how I understood normalization aliases. I did look at the
NormalizationStatus field and it now has a value of Not Applicable for
Normalization, which I don't understand since the Dataset and Class ARE
configured to be normalized.

Yes you should just need the Normalized ProdCat (Tier1-Tier3, Product Name),
and Manufacturer as well if you wish.
The Product Name alias as far as I know is only used for searches, not part
of the Normaliation engine which uses data stored in a different form.

Have you looked at the NormalizationStatus field yet?

Dan I have set up the "Normalized" product in the product catalog, but not
the alias. I had added the alias to the product name alias in the product
catalog, thinking it might help, though there is no documentation to suggest
this. Adding it to the normalization alias should be sufficient, yes?

FYI, last night I did notice that the product name HAD normalized, but my
attempts today with Manufacturer have not been successfull. From what I can
tell, I need the data set and class set up for normalization, normalization
alias for ModelName and/or Manufacturer, and a job for the dataset. I
shouldn't need a product catalog or company alias.

Did you make sure that the new categorization was also in the Product
Catalog?

Also, if it is the same as 7.5, once you have run the normalization job on
the CI once, there is a hidden NormalizationStatus field that prevents the
normalization from running again. You can make it "visible" with the Class
Manager and then be able to modify it and try again.

Change Management Approvals

2010-01-28 Thread Oliva Millonig, Patricia
Hi,

I think what I am asking should be easy but I can't seem to make it work. I
would like to use the out of the box workflows for Change approvals. This would

approvals based on a field we added to the Change form. How do I incorporate
this in to the out of box approvals? Am I going to need to create the approvals
from scratch?

Thanks for all your help,

Re: Licensing Question

2009-02-25 Thread Oliva Millonig, Patricia
I sorry. I should have been more clear. We have the full ITSM suite but
are developing a custom app outside of ITSM. We want to make sure that
5 people have the ability to modify tickets that others submit. We are
requesting a quote for licenses for ITSM suite and needed to identify
what licenses if any we would need to purchase to make sure the 5 people
in their custom app could do their job.

James, while you are right about everything else, users do not need any
kind of licenses to submit a request in a 'custom' application that
Tricia asked about. You need a license only to modify a request that has
not been submitted by you if the Submitter mode is Locked.

Another licensing basic is that all users designated as Administrators
of the system MUST have a Fixed license so that they can perfom their
Administrator functions. Just adding them to the Adminstrator group is
not enough.

At least one user MUST have a Fixed license and be in the Administrator
group at all times.

Cheers

Subject: Re: Licensing Question

That all depends on your needs. Fixed and Floating licenses allow users
to submit and modify all entries, barring any other security you might
add. The difference between fixed and floating is that Floating
licenses are shared. If you have 20 users sharing 5 floating licenses,
only 5 users can login with read/write access. A fixed license is a
dedicated license to individual users. Someone with a fixed license
will always be allowed to login with read/write access. "Read" licenses
allow users to submit and modify only those entries that they created.
Then there is the "Restricted Read" license that only allows submit.

"Read" and "Restricted Read" licenses are unlimited. You can assign as
many of these as you wish.

Create a custom dialog box with buttons Yes and No for the confirmation

Have this same temp field as a display only field on the parent form. On
Window Close of the dialog box which happens on both pressing yes and
no, have that temp field mapped so that the value is passed down from
the dialog box to the main parent form.

The same AL that opens that dialog box should have a next action that
evaluates the value of that temp field and perform the necessary actions
there after on whether to save or not save the record..
