Email Messages does not get submitted to the holding form if the subject is blank
Hello all, I have a filter where when e-mail is submitted to the AR Email Message form and if 'Message Type' = Incoming it gets submitted to a holding form. Then I have Push if 1=2, If No Request Match: Create a new Request If Any Request Match: Modify First Matching Request And then it pushes the needed fields. I have noticed that when the subject line is empty it does not get submitted to the form. Any ideas? Thanks! Manjari R. Re: Need Help with syntax for Runmacro from escalation, works from dos cmd
Thank you all for replying. From the escalation log I see that the escalation is running but it is not creating the output files, I am thinking that this might be something to do with permissions, as the user that will be writing the file looks like AR_ESCALATER, and that user will not have in our Network. I am thinking I will need to create the Output file within a folder where Remedy will have permission to write. Thanks! Manjari R. Hi Sandra, Thank you for your response, I am using ARS 7.1, patch 3. I have created workflow where the emails coming in get submitted into a staging form. The attachments are also included in this staging form in an attachment pool, from here agents can create a new ticket, update an existing ticket. Once they are ready to reply I have a form which sends a reply but it does not consist of the previous correspondence. Thanks! Manjari R. Thank you so much for this list, I wish I had this list for past 7 years. I looked at the list and most of the presents I bought for my husband was from Do not buy list. No wonder he never uses them .. hehe Thanks! Manjari R. Buying gifts for men is not nearly as complicated as it is for women. Follow these rules and you should have no problems. Rule #1: When in doubt - buy him a cordless drill. It does not matter if he already has one. I have a friend who owns 17 and he has yet to complain. As a man, you can never have too many cordless drills. For that matter any power tool is a good choice. He may not need it, or know what it does, but it will look good hung on the peg board in the garage. Rule #2: If you cannot afford a cordless drill, buy him anything with the word ratchet or socket in it. Men love saying those two words. Hey George, can I borrow your ratchet? OK. Bye-the-way, are you through with my 3/8-inch socket yet? Rule #3: If you are really, really broke, buy him anything for his car. A 99-cent ice scraper, a small bottle of deicer or something to hang from his rear view mirror. Men love gifts for their cars. Rule #4: Do not buy men socks. Do not buy men ties and never buy men bathrobes. If God had wanted men to wear bathrobes, he wouldn't have invented Jockey shorts. Rule #5: You can buy men new remote controls to replace the ones they have worn out. If you have a lot of money buy your man a big-screen TV with the little picture in the corner. Watch him go wild as he flips, and flips, and flips. Rule #6: Do not buy a man any of those fancy liqueurs. If you do, it will sit in a cupboard for 23 years. Real men drink whiskey or beer. Rule #7: Do not buy any man industrial-sized canisters of after shave or deodorant. We do not stink - we are earthy. Rule #8: Buy men label makers. Almost as good as cordless drills. Within a couple of weeks there will be labels absolutely everywhere. Socks. Shorts. Cups. Saucers. Door. Lock. Sink. You get the idea. No one knows why. Rule #9: Never buy a man anything that says some assembly required on the box. It will ruin his Special Day and he will always have parts left over. Rule #10: Good places to shop for men include Northwest Iron Works, Parr Lumber, Home Depot, John Deere, Valley RV Center, and Les Schwab Tire. (NAPA Auto Parts and Sear's Clearance Centers are also excellent men's stores. It doesn't matter if he doesn't know what it is. From NAPA Auto, eh? Must be something I need. Hey! Isn't this a starter for a '68 Ford Fairlane? Wow! Thanks.) Rule #11: Men enjoy danger. That's why they never cook - but they will barbecue. Get him a monster barbecue with a 100-pound propane tank. Tell him the gas line leaks. Oh the thrill! The challenge! Who wants a hamburger? Rule #12: Tickets to a professional sports game (any team within 300 miles) are a smart gift. However, he will not appreciate tickets to A Retrospective of 19th Century Quilts. Rule #13: Men love chainsaws. Never, ever, buy a man you love a chainsaw. If you don't know why - please refer to Rule #8 and what happens when he gets a label maker. Rule #14: It's hard to beat a really good wheelbarrow or an aluminum extension ladder. Never buy a real man a step ladder. It must be an extension ladder. Rule #15: Rope. Men love rope. It takes us back to our cowboy origins, or at least The Boy Scouts. Nothing says love like a hundred feet of 3/8 manilla rope. Rule #16: Clamps. Men can never have enough quick grip clamps. No one knows why Rule #17: Buy your man Duct Tape. This is a man's most universal repair tool. All men know, if you can't fix it, duct it. __Platinum Sponsor: www.rmsportal.com ARSlist: Where the Answers Are html___ ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org Platinum Sponsor: www.rmsportal.com ARSlist: Where the Answers Are

Create a control form to hold configuration data on how to process incoming mail. The benefit is that items such as group assignment, categories, and priority can be updated through data changes rather than updating workflow itself. The control form allows you to not have to worry about development, testing, approvals, and all the other rigors required when following a normal Release cycle for Form and Workflow changes. A developer at a previous company I worked at did something like this for multiple incoming email accounts. The system was setup for a variety of support groups so they (or automated systems) could open tickets by email. Workflow was also configured to recognize forwarded messages, and setup the ticket's requester as the original sender rather than the individual forwarding the message. This proved very handy for the emails we would get from users who email the developers directly about their problems rather than calling the Help Desk. You can probably get six figures as a Remedy developer with more than ten years just about anywhere in the U.S. if you are working on ITSM, although no person with that much experience should even be supporting a home grown system for less than $80k/year anywhere. You can get that much at a job in Oklahoma or Ohio, which have much lower costs of living than the bay area. It's all about supply and demand though, so if you want to be paid well you have to live somewhere that has very few Remedy people available, and a lot of companies making decent money so they can pay a decent salary too. As far as consulting, with 10 years of experience I would suggest looking at a minimum of $125/hour. I know BMC charges twice that for their senior people, and a lot of the major Remedy consulting firms charge similar rates. Any consulting firm that keeps more than 15% or $15/hour from your rate (depending on whether you are making more or less than $100/hr) is keeping too much. When I first did consulting I was ripped off a few times because I went through too many layers, where you have a small consulting firm taking 15%, who has a deal with a larger consulting firm taking 15%, who then deals directly with the client. In fact, I remember working with a guy who was being paid less than $40/hour while the client was paying $150/hour only because he had three or four consulting firms in the middle who each took their cut. When consulting, always ask who the direct client is, and if they refuse to tell you or if they tell you the name of another consulting company, don't let them submit your information to the client. On my last try, when I applied license to 7.1 at the end of the upgrade, the user form got reset and all the users as well as the permissions of the form were deleted. Is there a way I can upgrade to 7.1 and not loose these data? My server is Windows 2003 and I am also upgrading SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 database. Thanks in advance. Manjari R. An unhandled win32 exception occurred in emaild.exe
Hello All, I am trying to install e-mail engine for version 6.3 in the process of upgrade and I am getting the error An unhandled win32 exception occurred in emaild.exe. I have already installed AR clients. I entered a ticket for BMC but have not heard back. I also uninstalled VS 2005 thinking that might have done it. But now I am still getting the error. Arerr 1950: Error loading menu
ARS 5.1.2 on Win 2000 with SQL 2000 SP3 In the middle of routine work yesterday our remedy server began throwing error Arerr 1950: Error loading menu. The error does not seem to be appearing for all the agents, only few. I looked at the memory and they have plenty unused. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Error loading menu Character menu expansion failed in the symbols library; the menu did not load. This is often caused by a lack of space in the Windows resource heap when loading large menus. Can a qualification be included in a Submit template
Hello List, I have a .Net application which sends an e-mail template once the Customers (who do not have access to remedy) complete the Survey to E-mail Engine. I am using a submit action in the template. Is there a way to put in a qualification in the submit template that will see if the Request ID for the ticket exists and if it does then only it will push in the values? Or is there a workflow I can create to get the same result. I asked the Support and they informed me that the submit action does not have any such capability. Right now the problem I am facing is, I am sending the Request ID for the ticket but if someone changes the Request ID, it will still submit the survey to the survey form, which is scary. Stephen, The problem I have is that the .NET database and the Remedy database will not be residing at the same network. That way I do not see how the web application can update remedy database. The email would post to the web app. The web app would lookup the Request ID in Remedy. If the Request ID is valid, then proceed with the submit to the Survey form. If not, then display a message to the user. I use this here with approvals. When someone needs access to an application or server Remedy sends out a chain of approval emails. Each recipient selects either Approve or Deny with optional comments, and then clicks the Submit button (inside the email). The response is captured by an ASP.Net app that updates Remedy. Re: Using Random numbers in Remedy to send Survey instead of using the SR ID
Thank you so much Robert... this information has been most helpful. -Original Message- From: Babineau, Robert (xwave) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 9:45 AM To: Shrestha, Manjari R. Cc: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: RE: Using Random numbers in Remedy to send Survey instead of using the SR ID Well, depending on what version of Remedy ARS you are running (I'm assuming 6.3 or better), you can use a field ID of 179 on a character field and give it a length of 38 characters and this value will automatically generate without having to do a run process Application-Generate-GUID. If you don't want to use the field id 179 or you are using a previous version of Remedy ARS, then yes you would use a filter set field action to generate that value. Just remember to put your $PROCESS$ in front of your run process line to trigger it. i.e. GUID_Field = $PROCESS$ Application-Generate-GUID You can then reference your GUID in an email by sending out the text including that field. So, for instance, if you are sending out a URL to the users, you can send: please visit http://yourserver/yourasp.net?GUID=$GUID_Field$ to fill out our survey. When you send that notification email, it will replace the $GUID_Field$ with the actual GUID genereated. Now, you may want to encode the special characters before you send out the email. I know that at least the pound sign (#) gets generated in the GUID. Not sure about other characters.
