ARERR [8762] GetServerInfo Failed to get initialization values.

Just Installed ARS 7.1 P5 on 64 bit OS (Windows 2003 Std Edition) and now
Trying to access AR System Administration Console application via Remedy
User (7.1 p5) tool to see the configuration and add server license. Received
the following Plug-in error:

ARERR [8762] GetServerInfo Failed to get initialization values.
ARERR[623] Authentication Failed

I found BMC KB KM-00025855 which says 2 workarround -

1. adding parameter Server-Plugin-Alias in ar.cfg
2. updating host file with Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).

I  encountered different error when applied workarround,which is :-

ARERR[8203]The Server's RPC version is not supported: RPC programme is
unavailable.

I have tried downgrading to ARS 7.1 patch 4 but no use.

Other observation.
--
1. I can use User Tool to open any form. There is no issue in opening forms
and updating or creating entries.
2. When tried logging via mid-tier getting error ARERR[623] Authentication
Failed.

So can some body provide some hint/clue toward the resolution of this issue?

Crystal Report Server 11 and Mid-Tier Setup

Hi,
Can somebody advice how can I setup mid-tier to run ITSM7 crystal reports? I
have tried by referring Chap 10 Configuring the mid-tier to Run reports on
the web from 7.0.1 Mid-Tier installation guide but failed to get result. I
am still not sure where shall I install  Crystal Report Viewer Component ,
on machine 1 or on machine 3. Plan is to use Crystal Report Server 11.

My env setup is:-

Machine 1 : Widows 2003 Server /Crystal Report 11 Server /Business Object 11

Machine 2: Red Hat Linux ES 4/AR System 7.1 and ITSM7

Machine 3 : Red Hat Linux ES 4/Mid-Tier 7.0.1

Machine 4: Windows 2003 Server /Oracle 10 g

This issue with CMDB 2.0.1. is a defect ( SW00264937).

Solution is given below:-

There's an issue where the audit qualification is not properly parsed.
  To workaround this issue, the audit qualification had to be removed.
 In the attached XML document, starting at line 43:

   qualification

 right
  value
   characterValueBMC.ASSET/characterValue

Once the changes were saved the XML document could be imported.  Note,
the audit qualifications were of course lost and had to be manually

CDM migration from development to production

Hi All,
Can somebody help to resole the cmdb import problem? 
 
I am trying to migrate CMDB CDM from Dev to Prod. Step I am performing are:-
 
1. Created CDM export from dev server using cmdbdriver. Export file had been 
created without errors on screen.
2. trying to import on Prod server using cmdbdriver getting following error:-

WEB SERVICE ISSUE ???

Now that would explain why Remedy thinks the parameter is missing.  It
apparently is looking in the body only, not the header.

I went through the stub classes and manually changed all of them to be
'false' so the parameters are in the body.  Then it works!

Now the question is :
Is this a bug in Axis, a bug in Remedy, or both?  Should Remedy support
having the parameters be in the header (which seems the default for
Axis/WSDL2Java at least based on Remedy's WSDL?)  At the very least
there seems to be a pretty painful incompatibility between Remedy and
Axis here.

Looking for some relevant repsonse in this concern.

S O L U T I O N





Mid-Tier 7.0 now requires a password in the Admin Tool under
File 
Server Information Connection Settings. This would be the same
password

that is in the Mid-Tier Configuration Tool on the AR Server
setting page

for that specific server. If you access the AR Server settings,
notice
the Admin Password - these 2 Passwords must match, and in
Mid-Tier 
7.0 a
null password is no longer acceptable. Please verify that both
these

passwords match, then flush the cache, delete the browser cache
and try
to log in to the Mid-Tier once more.

 
 

 
Also, you may need to increase the VM heap size (edit tomcat.sh)
to at

least 256 MB or more if you continue to receive an out of memory
error.
Check the Mid-tier 7 release notes as well.

We've got an issue getting the mid tier working on our new
servers, upon signing on with Demo/blank password, we're getting an
ARERR 9388.  Have checked the knowledge base articles, and the mid-tier
password is definitely setup the same on both the AR Server and the mid
tier. 

 

Tomcat is running fine, and we can get into the mid tier
configuration without any issues.

 

Mid tier is running v7, patch 002, on Tomcat/IIS, on a Win2k3
platform.  AR Server is running v7 patch 002, also on Win2K3 (connecting
through to a SQL 2005 cluster if thats of any use). 

 

Any suggestions as to what/where/how?

Log indicates that server is crashing at RPC# 390635 (List) and 390603
(Escalation). To narrow down problem ,enable user log to watch the user
operation at that time by a specific user.

Enable the Server Statistics recording on from Admin tool-Server
information-Advance Tab 
Default recording interval is 60 second increase this value to avoid any
performance issue.

Login to User tool. Search for Server Statistics form to view the
records(recording).

You can add a another hidden field with input length 250. Set your
bigger field data(truncated) into this field and then use in your table.
Field having input length 250 can not be used as a table column. This
is ARS limitation.

Ive tried to locate this report file ( .arr ). I have located a file 
case_0.arr  which contain the parameters mentioned, but I cannot bring it up
using the Remedy User tool. It does not see the file. I have check
the Active Link  HPD:HPD-PrintHPDCase01  and the report its referring to is 
case . By the way, I am running ARS 6.3 and Help Desk 6.x. Here is
the path I am looking at, where I see the file( case_0.arr ) and please let me
know if I am looking in the wrong area

problem as the topic from September 5, called "Adding field to a report". For
searching the arslist archives, you can try the website at http://arslist.org It would help if you
would state in your email what version of AR System and what application version
you are using. You are using Remedy Helpdesk, but I can not tell whether it is
v4, v5 or later. Assuming it is v5 or later, there is an active link that runs
this report. The report is just a simple remedy .arr
file I guess, you can create one yourself using Tools  Reporting.
Check the active link: HPD:HPD-PrintHPDCase01Find the report, open
it in the user tool, add the fields, save the report and put it
back.Good luck with your first Remedy steps,Kind

We have Remedy ITSM Help Desk installed and I was trying to tweak the ' Print Case ' button on the Request form. Basically, I
wanted to add more fields in the report( which is sent to the printer ).
Its pretty comprehensive, but I wanted to include ' Department ' in the
report. I have tried reverse engineering to find out where this report
lies to make the needed mods, but I am stomped. It seems like a basic .arr
file is the one running it, I did find a file called ' case_0.arr ' which
contains all the parameters of the printed case( I made the changes to this and it did nothing
). Has anyone played with this button and its associated
features?

To reset aradmin ARS dbuser password You can comment out line
something similar to

Db-password: i+wkl4GoZXIIhTK66rZzK6haCvFwP7NZE5UF

in ar.conf and restart ARS Service. System will come up with default
password AR#Admin#.

contains'SchemaID', FieldID, Fieldname etc.

You can use Direct SQL to get values from this table
'Field".

trying to do, I have a menu from which I select a form name, On selecting a form
name, I have all the fields name populated on another menu. After selecting a
particular field i want to store the database id of that field in a hidden
character field.
E.g.

zcharfield-databaseid of fieldname selected in

So how do i retrieve
