Oh, and myit has now (in the grand bmc tradition) been renamed to DWP (Digital

Hi Guillaume,

Yes, that value is set to 20 already. But as Derek indicated: this issue
occurs only on Distributed Pending (T26) form - which I believe Request ID

Or am I wrong?

Different Queries for the same Active Link on DB

2010-12-21 Thread koray
Hello all,

I have observed a weird issue on 2 different servers. I have an Active
Link with Set Fields action that retrieves data from another form on
both of the servers - say with qualification 'A (C3)' = B. After
logging, on Server 1 a sample query like below is executed :

select c1, c3 from Txxx where c3='B'

But on the other one,

select c1, c2, c3 from Txxx where c3='B' -- say c1 has value 002
after the operation.
select c2 from Txxx where c1='002'

What is the reason for this difference and where is this configurable?

Koray

Yes, an escalation was needed to fulfill this task, or just a restart

I think this is the first time that somebody has asked this question.
It does not retry by default. I think you would need to create some custom

emails not sent because of an error and reset the flag to send it again.

With the snipit you provided, I cannot see it, but it's obvious that
somewhere earlier in your process something caused the DB to issue a
rollback...you just need to find the 'what'

 Thanks for the feedback,

I have had faced with a similar issue - a completely different one but
 identical to your example :
 - A script does a Push Fields to a form, but gets ARERR 382.
 - However, the Submit filters are executed after the operation as
 regular.
 - At the end of Phase, Canceled filter processing due to error
 appears.

The .log file has the line
 /* UPDATE xxx SET ...
 /*
 /* ROLLBACK

This totally seems to be okay, and supports your example.

On the other hand, the current case has all queries seem to be
executed successfully - ending with /* OK.

So I cannot see why or which statement fails at all.

2010-07-15 Thread koray
Hi all,

Then the only way seems to expand the current single queue+multiple
thread settings to multiple queue+single thread and give RPC as an
input.

Thank you for your answers!

 Hi all,

One simple question I am wondering about: Can I determine the thread
number my C script would run with a Run Process? So I would input a
 paramtere like ./myscipt -rpc -thread?

Hope someone could cheer me up!

Date/Time Field - Bug Found

2010-06-24 Thread koray
Hello all,

My regional settings for date/time field is as follows: 6/24/2010
9:45:12 AM

If I (or the user) enters date/time as 24062010 9:45:12 remedy
creates the database entry with integer value of 24062010 - which maps
to actually 10/6/1970 2:53:30 PM.

Therefore this causes a big unstability and I guess another bug of
Remedy ARS.

BR,
Koray

Notify Action - HTML/Plain Text?

2010-06-04 Thread Alkan, Koray
Hello together,

I need a fixed-width notification e-mail for some kind of a table by
using Notify action.
Is it possible that I can set the outgoing Notify E-mail to plain
text?
Or maybe can I use HTML formatting in the Notify text?

I tried adding HTML tags directly but it did not work.

Thanks in advance,

Re: {Remedy ARS} Re: Replace New Line Character with 7.5, not possible anymore?

2010-06-01 Thread Alkan, Koray
Hello again,

Still no news but this workaround works perfect:

- Create a temporary char field
- Set that field with SQL : select chr(10) from dual
- Use this new field's value in replace functions.

Although CHR(13)+CHR(10) is the new line character for windows Remedy
uses CHR(10) for new lines.

 1. . ar_install_dir/bin/arsystem     don't forget the dot in front, so you
will have all the env-vars set by arsystem in your actual unix-shell
 2. try to start your script. It should abort with core dump
 3. unset ENV-VAR
 4. try to start your script
 5. unset NEXT-ENV-VAR
 6. try to start your script
 ...
 ...
 ...
 ...

you should be able to find the env-var which is causing trouble and perhaps
this leads you to a solution.

 HTH

 Kind Regards Conny

Active Link External $PROCESS$ on AR Server 7.5

2010-04-20 Thread koray
Hello together,

I have upgraded my ARS servers from 6.3 to 7.5 and facing with some
major problems since then.
The previous syntax to run an external process via an Active Link was

$PROCESS$ @@: /mypath/script -p1 parameter1 -p2 parameter2

and it worked perfect. But since the 7.5 upgrade I have been receiving
errors:

ACTL - Passed qualification -- perform if actions
ACTL 0: Set Fields

ACTL Process: /mypath/script -p1 parameter1 -p2
parameter2
ACTL Error while performing active link action

Do you have any idea? What am I doing wrong here?
I even tried double-quoting the parameters but nothing seems to work.

Also removing : character from active link results with no error but
returns null.

Thanks in advance!

To execute your script with the same env. as arserverd do the following.

Neither using the Field ID or the database name of the Task ID field

  To sum up what exactly the problem is;

  - For a number of forms, EXTERNAL() function does work perfect where
for FormX entering the qualification string with EXTERNAL() gives an
output of SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE (1 = 0) even if I enter the
  qualification as 1=1.
  - Entering qualification string(s) manually into Table Properties
window returns valid results, including 'Task ID' = TSK011
  - For workflow, results are the same.

  So,
  - Qualification strings I am using must be valid, both on EXTERNAL()
  and Table Properties.
  - I have also tried using Task ID field's Field ID, but no luck.

I believe Shafqat is talking about when you build a set fields action to

Just to make sure things are clear...  You have a form (FormA) that has a
table field on it.  That table field is displaying data from FormX.  You
have a display only character field (zTempQualX) on FormA to hold the
   external qualification for the table.

If you just type into zTempQualX you can type  'Task ID' = TSK01
To build that string in workflow you would use   'Task ID' = +
   $SomeFieldOnFormA$ +

For your problem... Are you sure that the field on FormX is 'Task ID' ?
Try using the Field ID of the field on FormX   '1' = TSK01

I have seen problems where the field name does not always work, but using
   the ID should.

That issue does not seem to be because of a syntax error since I have

It feels like it should have something to do with the properties of

Qualification I am using is something basic like 'Task ID' =
TSK01 just to test it.

Weird thing is that when I enter the qualification string manually on
Table Properties it works perfect, but not via the character field.

As for the 1=1 when you're leaving blank, it is probably building

 see that as anything

Re: Qualification EXTERNAL() Issue - Returns Nothing

2009-09-07 Thread koray
I tried both manually typing the qualification in the character field
and putting it into a workflow, with correct syntax of double quotes.

Neither using the Field ID or the database name of the Task ID field
works correct.

To sum up what exactly the problem is;

Just to make sure things are clear...  You have a form (FormA) that has a
table field on it.  That table field is displaying data from FormX.  You have
a display only character field (zTempQualX) on FormA to hold the external
 qualification for the table.

I have seen problems where the field name does not always work, but using the
 ID should.

 Dear Shafqat,

That issue does not seem to be because of a syntax error since I have
indicated previously for some other forms EXTERNAL() command works
 perfect.

It feels like it should have something to do with the properties of
the form or the fields that I am trying to qualify from.

Even setting 1=1 in Character Field for External Qualification gives

Dear List,

I again have an issue but this seems a bit meaningless to me.

I have a table on my form retrieving data from X form with every
fields of it added as columns.

I also created a Character Field and set the table's Qualification to
that char field as External().
When I refresh the table without any qualification - in other words
when the char field is empty - table lists all the data.

But, when I enter a valid qualification string in the char field, I
get nothing. Log file shows like

SELECT (..) FROM (...) WHERE (1 = 0) ORDER BY 6 ASC

1) where does 1=0 come from? Isn't it meaningless?
2) Although I have not set any Order option from Table Properties
ORDER BY 6 ASC occurs.

Any ideas?

Depending on your database you can also add extra fields in a View of the db

Otherwise, yes a hidden field would have saved my hours of research on

  Alkan,

I noted that your post did not include what ARS version your using.
That information may have been helpful to understand your full options.

So... You do not want to use the feature that is built into the system
to do the task that you are trying to do. But you still want to do the
  task.

So How about any of the following alternatives?

If you only want this to work on the Mid-Tier you could:

Mid-Tier ONLY) Write some custom javascript that you trigger any time
the form is refreshed (good luck trapping all of those cases, so there
is more custom javascript needed for that) that would alter the CSS
  for the rows.

Mid-Tier ONLY2) You could use a column that is a display only,
HTML-ReadOnly column and change the color of that cell, or put a
colored image in the cell, in the row by using Active Links to loop
over the table and set the correct HTML into the column.

But if you need this to work in the User Tool then you really need to
use the feature as it is designed to work. ( Which should also work
for the Mid-Tier client too. :)

I guess there are other approaches you could take...

Submit a UI enhancement request to BMC and wait (years?) to maybe see
the second way to implement this feature show up in the product.

Oh.. how about this idea... This could work

You could create your own ARS client from the ground up. That would
let you do all kinds of things in your UI. If it helps you would not
be the first customer to do it. However it is no small task to achieve
so that you can implement table field row colors based on something
other than a selection field value from the table row.  (Note: The UI
enhancement request might be faster (and cheaper) than this option.)

Ok... I think I am totally out of ideas on this one...

Anyone else know of a better way to skin this cat?

Re: Windows Dialog Box for filename?

2009-09-02 Thread koray
Sorry, my bad, I just could not explain.

I am working on an export form and I'd like user to choose a folder
and a filename for the backup file to be created.
Not to input a previously created file.

Updating MidTier to 7.1 does not seem to be possible for the time, so
I will use buttons instead of right-click menus.

On Sep 2, 5:09 pm, LJ Longwing lj.longw...@gmail.com wrote:
You can certainly do that.  If you set an attachment field to a char field,
the value you get is the combined path and file name that the file was saved

filename, but you certainly have that ability.

On a separate note, it's possible to run a 7.1 MidTier against a 6.3 Remedy
server if I'm not mistakenso if you wanted to upgrade your web, but not
 your server it's a possibility.
