I received confirmation from BMC Elite that they harvested my work email
address from the BMC Developer website.

I didn't know about the guest invite, perhaps that's why I'm getting the
emails.

I'm guessing that they did an initial 'Harvest' of the ARSList for
email
addresses. If you have opted out, and are receiving the emails again,
it
is my guess that maybe one of the people who signed up on the site has
invited you. There is a handy Invite link where you can invite a
friend
to join.

I joined. The ARSlist is more useful, but I like being able to put a
name with a face, as you can do with the website in mention.

Thanks,

Gary

Just because more people aren't complaining doesn't mean its not true.
I'm somehow on their list and getting their emails even though I
didn't
request it. I suspect they're probably a legitimate group, however,
the
way they went about gathering members is what people are having an
issue
with. If they had merely posted on the list and provided a link, I
believe they would have recieved a more positive response. I'm not
losing sleep over it and I will continue to delete the emails as I get
them.

2008-09-11 Thread Daniel Bloom
Whilst I did not receive the email others got,
Nor was I informed it was going out, I should point
Out that these are the folks that sponsor the ARSlist currently
And so I assume good will, albeit poorly communicated.

I do know it is a reputable company, that is not practicing a pyramid
scheme.

That being said, I am talking to them about it all.

(I think it was clearly not BMC since BMC always has bmc.com,
And BMC has the Developers Network and has never announced any other group,
But certainly it seemed obvious that RMS should be clearer, and nowhere
In the email does it seem to mention that it is RMS creating the site).

Thanks ... Daniel
p.s. must admit, I am offended that they talk about BMC Elite
and did not include me in their emails going out :-)

Good evening List,

Hope you are all well

I just thought I'd intervene here If I may; the site is administered and
owned by Resource Management Solutions Limited - we are a UK Based

All of this feedback is actually invaluable to us, since it will allow
RMS to better our value offering.

For Simplicities sake, we have created the site for its members to
discuss any technical issues, look at event details, Network from a
Business Point of view with their peers and our overall aim is to create
a community site that is valued; certainly we have our job board on the
site and it allows members to view the positions we have available.

To clearly define the referral scheme; this is not pyramid selling; it
is purely a referral scheme; how it essentially works: When an
Individual refers a Consultant to RMS Limited and we successfully place
that person into a position - we pay the referring person a fee, and
likewise when the person they referred does the same. These fees are
paid out when we successfully place these people, not simply for
referring them to the site.

If any of you feel you would like RMS to elaborate further on that
please do contact me off list:

Yeah, and let us know if anyone ever gets a commission. :) I think the

only thing I didn't like was that it was misleadingly represented as
being
from BMC, or at least sanctioned by BMC. There should have been a

Good evening List,

Hope you are all well

I just thought I'd intervene here If I may; the site is administered and

In the US, this commission type scheme is a pyramid scheme. They only last so
long before they break. Especially when there is no cost with joining but pay

OT- Question about Invitation to join BMC EliteSeems to have a bunch of
international people on it - I only recognized a few names. I don't suppose it
hurts anyone.

  David,

I got the same email. It came from James Richardson, formerly of TuringSMI
and now of Resource Management Solutions. It DOES NOT COME from BMC. I sent him
a note at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and let him know I didn't appreciate being on his
mass market mailing list and asking him to remove me immediately. To his credit
he sent me an email stating that I had been removed from the mailing list.

Hmmm. Just got a strange email. I'm attempting to figure out if it's legit
from BMC or garbage. It doesn't provide a lot of detail about what BMC Elite
is but does offer me commissions.

Centralized new feeds for ARSList, UKRUG and others. Hmmm.

  Actual invite listed below.
