Hello, Forget the installer. Download Tomcat 6, download the Midtier war file, install Tomcat, put war file in Tomcat/webapps, copy native libs to Windows/System32 if it crashes as you try to login to the Midtier configuration page. You don't need Apache HTTPd. When I try to install Midtier on windows 7 I get an ("Invalid Tomcat installation folder") error. The AR Server is installed and functioning. I have tried to reinstall. I have moved the ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml file. I have tried with and without Apache Tomcat installed. Is there something in the ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml file that I can just edit? Hi, We are using that exact setup here at the moment, and other than the normal 'bugs' of midtier, we are not experiencing any issues. By 'bugs' I mean the stuff that BMC has to hotfix. We are on a load balanced system with 2 midtier and 2 ar servers, both our ARservers are 7.6.03(as is our ITSM Suite), our midtier is now Version 7.6.04 SP1. -- Michael Hirst University of Arizona, UITS 520-621-0867 On Tue, Aug 30, 2011 at 10:46 AM, T Wang wrote: > ** > > Hi List, > > > > Just want to find out if anyone out there is using ARS/CMDB/Midter 7.6.4 > with ITSM 7.6.3 and if you have issues. Re: Tomcat 6 & MidTier 7.6.4
Christie, It is fairly common for the CPU and Memory usage to increase right after restarting tomcat as it loads all the forms and workflow definitions into cache. Depending on what you have installed, this should even out after a short time (varies, so I can't give you an estimate as to actual length). If it doesn't settle down, check the tomcat logs to see what it is busy with and take it from there. Re: MidTier 7.6.4 & Cache Setting
The way I understand it for newer Mid-Tiers (7.5 patch 4 and greater I think) is that a value of 0 for the "Definition Change Check Interval" means the AR definitions will be checked each time the form is accessed through the browser. This works great on a development system in combination with the Dev Studio "Open in Browser" feature (new in 7.6.03). For a production system you would want to set it fairly high since the Form and Active Link definitions should be pretty static. Christie, I'm on 7.5, so it might be different. I might have kept the original settings, which differ in that: Definition Change Check Interval: 3600 Also, Enabled Cache Persistence is checked The 7.5 doc says to put a value greater than 0 for the interval; so I wonder if the 0 in your setting just resorts to a default of 1 hour. Re: MidTier 7.6.4 & Cache Setting
We have had problems in the past where flushing/syncing does not work completely In that case we had to shutdown Apache Tomcat and then manually clear the cache directory (%appdir%/midtier/cache). Good luck. -Patrick From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Pargeter, Christie :CO IS Sent: June 3, 2011 10:47 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: MidTier 7.6.4 & Cache Setting I had tried flushing & syncing and neither seemed to work. Dev cache mode might be the thing. Otherwise, you could manually "Flush Cache" on the Cache Settings page in the Mid Tier Configuration Tool.
