Re: Customizing BMC Remedy Knowledge Management 7.5

2010-05-31 Thread pivanov
Dear collagues,

 i have one more issue with the Knowledge Management (specially with
the Hummingbird SearchServer). When i am trying to index Cyrillic
symbols, it is not indexing them right, and i can not perform search
requests (they are returning zero results). Do somebody know how to
set the SearchServer to index Cyrillic symbols as well?

Thanks,
 Plamen Ivanov

Plamen,

I had a similar request which I asked BMC and they claim that most of the UI is
stored in the rkm.war file. This means that it's essentially not customizable.

Hi Michael,

 thanks a lot for your reply. That is really pity... I found the
following facts as well:

1. Only customizable are the templates.
2. The Thesaurus functionality (Stop file as well) is not working with
Cyrillic words and symbols.

If someone else knew other restrictions, I will appreciate if share
them with us.

In patch 3 of 7.2 the ability to localize/customize any label in RKM was
introduced.  See the patch file readme (Starting on page 9).  I would imagine
this feature progressed into the 7.5 release but don't know for sure.

Re: Customizing BMC Remedy Knowledge Management 7.5

2010-05-26 Thread Easter, David
Just as an FYI – and I realize this is not a short term fix for your request –
but in future versions of RKM (i.e. major/minor releases after 7.5.00), RKM
will be a native AR System application like ITSM, SRM and SLM. Beyond the
obvious strong benefits of being an AR-powered application (scalability,
security, consistency of UI, compliance with industry standards, broad
OS/DB/App or Web Srver/browser support, etc.) this also means that the
application would be viewed and extended using AR System development tools like
Dev Studio and the upcoming Localization Toolkit.

This is, by the way, another key identifier that BMC recognizes the strong
value of AR System and expects to continue expanding BMC offerings powered by
AR System.

If you create a resource folder under the:

ar system applications\BMC Remedy Knowledge
Management\data\kms_conf\Resource

and then add the KmsL10n_en.properties file you can modify it and it will
show in rkm webpage. I stopped tomcat and did this, restarted tomcat and
the changes I made to the page worked.

2010-05-26 Thread Kevin Begosh
Sent before I meant to, I was able to modify the headings on the main page
and even the headings on the tabs etc... under the headings. The main
heading section is in the document under this section

##
#TemplateServlet.java
##
TemplateServer.Home=Home
TemplateServer.Authoring=Authoring
TemplateServer.Browse=BrowseTest
TemplateServer.Search=Search
TemplateServer.NewsFlashes=News Flashes
TemplateServer.Reports=Reports
TemplateServer.Settings=Settings
TemplateServer.LoggedInAs=Logged In As
TemplateServer.Logout=Logout

So if you just change the name here it will change it on the main heading.

Also you can just search for all references in this document to change it in
other places such as the browseservlet.
