If you record the macro with the user toolverify it
creates the csv in the place that you want.  Then have the Escalation
execute a run process that calls runmacro.exe.  Then a second action that
performs a PERFORM-ACTION-ADD-ATTACHMENT [] to
attach the file to a record...then you can use a standard notification to send
the email

I want to include a search result from a form in a notification
and email a user on a daily basis.  The search result I am
getting from a form is between 150 to 200 records. The data changes every
day.   What is the best way to include the search result in the
escalation so the user can receive one single email everyday?  I will
  appreciate your help.

2006-10-14 Thread George T.
“I want to include a search result from a form in a notification and email
a user on a daily basis.”

This is something I have recently done.

I started by using an external (Visual Basic) script, saving the results
to a (.txt) file then sending the file in the E-mail. This required a
separate script for each report and workflow external to ARS. Very labor
intensive to revise reports when needed.

I plan on retiring and becoming a ski bum in the next year. My future
replacement wanted the process simplified a bit.

Recently I revised the process. Started with creating a new Remedy Form.
This form uses three fields: address, text message, and attachment. The
form started out as a process to E-mail a Spreadsheet (Created with
script) once a week. Remedy workflow is used to ‘Add Attachment’ and send
as an E-mail notification to the address. I revised the form to send a
text message. I use a script to create a file (.csv) and import into the
Remedy Form. The .csv file contains the address and text of the
message. ‘Merge’ workflow sends the message.

Once the process was working, I revised the process to send the reports to
a ‘Remedy Group’. This simplifies (no script revision) the changing who
receives the messages.

The process still depends on scripts to search Remedy and process the
information into report files. I have reduced the number of scripts being
used by making them as generic as possible. One script to create
spreadsheets sent as attachments. One script used to create the text
messages.
