Based on what is I think you are doing, I will summerize and then post an
idea.
Summary: you want the same data EIE exchange on production as Test.
Why not just reisntall EIE with a different instance name/location and point
it to Test.
CM is then pointing to -- Prod , and pointing to -- Dev.
FD/TD: you will need to install a complete seperate instance of FD/TD // and
1 additional SQL server instance to sycro to a testbed. Might be a little
heavy for 2 sql servers and 2 FD/TD instances on the same box.. FYI.

Is this what you were thinking?

You’ll need to back up your EIE data first. Once the db has been restored
you’ll need to delete the existing data then import your EIE data using an
arimport command line.

If you wish to restore your server with a copy of the EIE data, then the
important form to backup is EIE:BackupDataLoadFlag (IIRC). Once the db restore
is done, replace the entries with your backed up file.

Matt's suggestion worked for an installation that I worked with and eliminates
having to reinstall AIE/EIE to reestablish the instances.

Re: syncing environments

2009-08-11 Thread Martinez, Marcelo A
I just did a refresh of my test system. I copied over the DB and purged the
license; applied a new license and it works like a charm. (I do have Email
turned off b/c I don't want users to get emails from testing server).

The first time, I did this I copied we took a server snap shot and db snap shot
and created a virtual server. The database was put on a different SQL server.
Then I had to go into the server and rename registry keys and system folders to
the testservername. Also did this in the ar.cfg file.

What I can't get to work after doing the copy is the mid-tier..

An alternative would be to use Remedy Migrator and migrate the objects that are
different; or entire applications.

Re: syncing environments

2009-08-11 Thread Gidd
Anne,

This kind of functionality is built-into our ESS @ Work solution. Our
Configuration Data Management (CDM) application allows our
Administrators to synchronize environments without the fear of losing
precious data. You can easily compare data between servers
and then transfer as required, we do data integrity checks and track updates
via a Change Log.

This is not a bolt-on application for ESS, it is built-in. Also note that
there is no additional cost for ESS @ Work on a test or
development server adding additional value to an already mature and proven
enterprise solution.
