Re: UPDATE: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01
AR System 7.0.01 patch 002 is currently scheduled for early March. If a hot fix is needed for your specific issue, hot fixes may be supplied prior to Patch 002 through BMC Support. Support would also be better able to determine to which defect you are referring and to and its current status. Thanks, -David J. As with all patches, it is recommended that both the server and Mid-Tier are patched to the same level. However, were you to choose not to do that, what I can say is that the patched library exists in the Mid-Tier portion of the patch. As with all situations, you should try it in your lab to determine if there are any negative effects in your environment based on your decisions. Please read the readme files for each portion of the patch for details on which fixes are within which portions of the patch. Thanks, -David J. The affected libraries are used by both the server and Mid-Tier, although they are more heavily used by the Mid-Tier. Ultimately, each customer must review the information provided and make a decision based on how the customer's environment will be affected vs. the time and effort necessary to apply the patches. Obviously, BMC's recommendation will be to load the patches. In terms of a 7.0.00 Mid-Tier, the recommendation from BMC is to move the Mid-Tier to AR System 7.0.01 and apply patch 001 because there is no patch for AR System 7.0.00. Were you to stay on Mid-Tier 7.0.00 Patch 002, you would encounter the issues listed in the Technical Bulletin that affect the Mid-Tier. In a mixed environment, the recommendation would be to patch both the Mid-Tier and Server with the appropriate files from patches. In other words, if you are running a Mid-Tier of 7.0.01 and an AR System Server of 6.03, load AR System 7.0.01 Patch 001 on the server and AR System 6.03 Patch 020 on the Mid-Tier (just like you'd do for any other patch). -David J. Reason I ask is because the latest Mid Tier release prompts a guest user message as javascript alert (ARWARN [59] No such user exists -- successfully connected as a guest user :username) - same message as user tool when logging in. We have a script that automatically passes the username to remedy to login, and it doesn't display this message on earlier mid tier releases. -David J. Re: UPDATE: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01
Hi George, In general, AR System does use the OS or Java Run Time engine for DST. However, there is a library that is used in the Mid-Tier that does its own DST calculations. This library had to be patched. Overall BMC DST information can be found at: http://www.bmc.com/supportu/DST2007 Technical Bulletin can be found at: http://www.bmc.com/supportu/documents/78/29/67829/67829.pdf -David J. Re: UPDATE: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01
The information provided is there to enable you to make the best decision for your environment. -David J. Or can We just update to 6.3 p 20 and continue to run on Mid Tier 7.0.0 patch 002? Reason I ask is because the latest Mid Tier release prompts a guest user message as javascript alert (ARWARN [59] No such user exists -- successfully connected as a guest user :username) - same message as user tool when logging in. We have a script that automatically passes the username to remedy to login, and it doesn't display this message on earlier mid tier releases. This message confuses users when submitting tickets to our servicedesk - anyone know where this message resides either in a filter or active link? All these users have records in the people form, but not in user form - the user form should only have licensed support users correct? Thanks for the help!! I would like to retract the last statement. It's ARS 7.0.1 that FB 6.3 is not compatible with. So, back to my original question. Do you know if the DST patches were tested in mixed environments as well? In particular Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1(DST) against ARS 6.3 Patch 20(DST) and Flashboards 6.3 patch 20? There always seems to be some slight incompatibility issues, especially when it comes to Flashboard 6.3 qualifications and Mid-Tier 7.x.x Thank you in advance, Michelle -Original Message- From: Lucero, Michelle - IST contractor Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2007 2:15 PM To: 'arslist@ARSLIST.ORG' Subject: UPDATE: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01 Whoa, I just noticed something kind of wicked that I could have sworn wasn't there before. Flashboard 6.3 is NOT compatible with Mid-Tier 7.0.1. I'm pretty sure that when Mid-Tier 7.0.0 was listed there was a Yes listed in the compatibility matrix. With that said, does this mean we can't stay on Mid-Tier 7.0.0 with some DST patch? We really appreciate it. We all know that the compatibility matrix allows the 7.0.x Mid-Tier to point to an ARS 6.3 server.
