[AsburyPark] Questions for Assembly Candidates

2005-10-02 Thread restore881FM

As some of you may know the assembly candidates Kean, Corodemus, Reilly and Doherty will debate live on Asbury Radio this week.
AsI sit here working on the questions, I thoughtyou mighthavesome of your own that you'd like us to pose tothe candidates. Since we gave them the topic areas awhile ago, your question would have to fit one of the following categories:eminent domain, property taxes, political corruption, campaign finance disclosureor housing. This should be interesting to see what kind of input we get. Naturally, we can't guarantee that we'll use any or all suggestions, so don't take it personally if yours isn't picked.(But, you might luck outfor the freeholder debate, coming up Oct. 20.) Just hit reply to this email to send your question.
Also, bear in mind that a lot of the issues being posed to the gubernatorial candidates are actually going to be decided by the legislature, so this is a really important opportunity.

In case you didn't see this, here is the format: Each candidate will have two minutes to respond, followed by an optional one-minute rebuttal, and a one-minute follow-up. After that the phone lines will be opened affording the public a chance to ask their own questions of the candidates. The public can call 732-775-0821 and 775-6203.
Thanks,
Maureen

[AsburyPark] Re: Top 10 Posters - past month

2005-10-02 Thread Sharon G. Boone
-Werner, is this a contest?
Didn't know anyone was keeping count! Haven't been posting much, but
still reading! Glad to see everybody getting along, as usual,
wink, wink! Hope to see ya'll next weekend! It's not a threat! Skip,
you are too much for me. BB, I thought you were a nice guy, but I
guess Zebra's never change their stripes! Werner stay sweet? Been off
and haven't read all the posts, but who are the Loffredo 7 and what
has John done to you? No, not you! I see Maureen's still keeping it
real here. Gonna Listen this week! No meetings! Sandy, still here?
Write to me! I see JerseyKev is back or is he? Is He a He? No pun
intended because some people pretend to be other than what they are
and I don't mena that in a sexual context, either! Whatever, hope to
see you all Saturday! Keep fighting for what's right in sweet, Asbury!
Shameless Plug! Shop at Kathy's! What a place! Perfect for AP!
Great prices, too! Told all of my friends about her shop because the
theme for my club is Anchors! Anchors Aweigh! She's Got em'!

[AsburyPark] Re: Questions for Assembly Candidates

2005-10-02 Thread Sharon G. Boone
Joe,
You took the words out of my mouth! Your last question is what really
got to me. Why was the office MOVED out of Asbury Park? Who is Sean
Kean REALLY serving? I saw the photo Op in last week's coaster. Front
page! To say what? The photo surely didn't reflect the demographics
of a 67% Black Majority! It was so telling! The only person that I
knew lived in Asbury Park was Tommy D!
Just a blind observation!

property taxes, political corruption, campaign finance disclosure

get.

I'll bet the answers go something like this:

Eminent Domain: All four will be against it if a person's primary
 residence will be taken.

Property Taxes: All four will be for lowering property taxes.

Political Corruption: All four will be against political corruption.

Campaign Finance Disclosure: All four will be in fave of campaign
 finance disclosure.

Housing: Here's the one category of your limited categories where
they might disagree. You should ask them all about other
municipalities selling their RCA obligations to other towns,
specifically Asbury Park. I'll bet that all four have the wrong
answer. (Be sure to include your personal disclaimer on the issue
of
 RCA programs.)

Now if you really want to see a debate, you can ask them about the
one issue that they disagree on: equal rights for everyone
including
gays and lesbians. You can ask Kean and Coredemus how it can be
that
they claim to have strong support in the gay and lesbian community
when they didn't even vote in favor of the state's domestic
partnership registration act. (Kean abstained and Coredemus voted
no.) Doherty and Reilly are advocates for equal rights for all
citizens and have made specific outreach to the gay and lesbian
community including a fund raiser this very afternoon at Club
Paradise. Republicans Kean and Coredemus' idea of reaching out to
the
gay community is having Tom De Seno calling me on the phone.

Here's another question... Since Doherty and Reilly have committed
to
opening their legislative office in Asbury Park once they are
elected, you can ask Kean and Coredemus if they will do the same.
Better yet... you can ask Kean why he moved his legislative office
out of Asbury Park in the first place.

[AsburyPark] I see there's another new Principal at APHS.

2005-10-02 Thread cabaretjon
I thought that very handsome man who I spoke to in July was a great
choice, but I see he left for a higher paying position. :( This new
principal in that bright cherry-red dress (Asburypark.net) seems to
have extensive experience in some very classy areas. Maybe what our
high school has needed all along is an intelligent, sensitive, sensible
and engaging woman. I am looking forward to learning more about her.
I want to be the first to wish the new APHS principal the best. :)
