[AsburyPark] Parking meters not enforced til 8/15 ?

2008-08-08 Thread oakdorf
Noticed a sign last night corner of Asbury Ave and Kingsley - to the
effect parking meters enforced beginning 8/15

And those cartoon drawings are coming to life. Looks like some of the
figures for the waterpark arrived.

All the meters are effective 8-15?  I was at a show at the Stone Pony this
past Sat, and noticed a lot of beach people using them.  Some machines had the
words free parking flashing on across the screen, others didn't!
I'll have to check out the water park items tomorrow.  I'm very interested
to see them in real life.

Sharon,

On this point I agree with you and Werner.there is a fine line
between pushing to get something done and being underhanded or doing
something illegal that may work in the short term but never in the
long term.I do not have all the facts and do not attend all of the
meetings as Werner does. I do value Werner's input as well as
everyone elses on the board.

Regarding the fireworks, I assumed the MM funded them this year as
they are included in all of the promotional materialmaybe someone
can clarify? I could very well be wrong on this point.

The sun is back out..heading to the boardwalk!

[AsburyPark] The lights at the new Stone Pony parking lot

2008-08-08 Thread Jack Pitzer
Are absolutely ridiculous. Over bright. Obnoxious. Overkill. This has to stop.
The city has
given MM way too much leeway and power, and they are overstepping their bounds.
Also, bicycles are banned on the boardwalk, but last night I saw some of the
boardwalk redev
people cruising along in the golf carts being more menacing then most bikes,
while I was
walking my bike.
Finally, when is the city going to step up and either admit that the band shell
has been
eliminated, or that they are going to do something about it? There is no way
that there is
going to ever be a band shell with the roaring a/c unit above the glass place.
Maybe MM
thought that they'd leave restoring the band shell for later and then figure
out what to do
with the a/c unit, but i'm saying it's just not going to happen, and it's
practically criminal.
Yeah, of course people are going to side with MM and say things are better then
ever. But
really, if you think that you just aren't seeing the bigger picture. Something
rotten is going
on...

Another thought about the Stone Pony... How come the sidewalk on the
northern side of the building wasn't done the right way H...  I think
we all know what's coming, or rather going.

It's a case of smoke and mirrors. Those lights are what you find at an airport,
or a mall.
Exactly what you'd expect from an organization that specializes in retail
development.
Welcome to our BS mall by the sea.

Jack, I understand your work schedule, but at my last tally, (a few
days ago) there were 339 NON-BOUNCING members in this group.

Not all group members are residents, but I am willing to bet that
many are.

Why is it that the many pertinent issues voiced in this group are not
voiced at the Council mettings? The educated answer to that is that
people are not attending.

I could take a day off monthly to drive down and hold hands with Rita
to loudly say WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? But I would not affect
anything because I am not a resident.

I do listen to the Council meeting minutes (thank you Maureen) and I
long to be a resident.

I did not intend to single you out Jack, I was just lamenting over
the lack of participation in the Council meetings in general.

Residents of Asbury Park, make your voices heard!
