One more comment. There are qualified natives of Asbury Park, some with the same, Black and White, if not equal credentials. Why are Blacks insulted that they can't do the SAME job better, but won't because of what's happening to Lou Jordan, Wilbur Russell, etc. Whenever a Black person is chosen for a administrative job here, they are second guessed to death! I personally think that the stress Wilbur Russell was under, killed him! My opinion, so don't question me to death on that! I was a witness to how he was addressed in Council Chambers, with no respect, whatsoever. That Homeowners report was taken to the FBI and who was snared first, Terry Weldon, is who. The FBI started looking into everyone's background and that's how his fraud was uncovered! He's walking around like King of the Hill, while the Blacks are either going to be carted off to jail on a trumped up conspiracy, only because a former councilwoman wore a wire and sold out her people. She is seen as a shill of the white conspiracy that makes sure any decent Black won't apply for these plum jobs that whites sit on and think they are entitled to have. It's all about 'entitlement'; they've always had it and will be damned if any one of us can do the same in a calm, professional manner. I am making a general statement and NOT putting it on anyone in particular. I see how some councilman speak to blacks and whites, have no respect for anyone, that questions them, why they sign onto deals, that virtually gives the city away, while they criticized the Blacks for thinking that they were doing right by the city, also. They're no better than the bad Black people, they replaced! The Blacks successfully had a recall, back in 96 throwing Candiano and another off the council, because they didn't know any better either! What qualifies the sitting council? They're just as green as the others that sat there and made fools of themselves, wouldn't address issues and were made to look like they were in someone's pocket! When no one downtown explains why they are doing something, what are ordinary citizens like myself, who are not on the inside or sophisticated enough to realize that this City has been SOLD down the river, to the fattest cat in town? Allan - Thanks for asking about Jordan. I say Jordan getting dumped issad because so much of the situation is not his fault and much of what looks like a worsening situation is actually a more aggressive police force and a worsening crime situation throughout the neighboring towns as well. Jordan was hired to give us two for the price of one - a chief and a director. The fault wasn't Jordan's, it was the labor attorney who approved our recruiting and hiring for such a position.But alot of the animosity toward Jordaneruptedafter the city breached that whole career track that kept the incentivegoing forcops who could hope that someday they'd make chief.By putting someone from outside their rank and filein the top post - not even a chief - the city was short circuiting the process. I know we had a public safety director, Dowling,prior to Jordan. But I wasn't around when he was appointed and don't know how the chain of command was run. The APP todayin the editorial bears out the rise in area crime numbers - as well as Asbury's disproportionate numbers. But it's not just risingin Asbury. When I moved here in '99, I was warned that most of the crimes were not being reported in the news, so I don't know whether that also went for the official crime reports. If it did, then you can see why the numbers would've gone up. Another reason I find this sad is that Jordan works verylong hours and has always responded to my questions and requests. I feel hesincerely tried to do a good job. Jordan told me some thingspersonally that he wasn't ready to go public with. This was just after the traffic stop incident blew up. I'veleft a message with his secretary to invite him onto the show. I hope he decides to do so.
