Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Lawsuit time
Ed Johnson made a post on the other Asbury board stating that the C-8 date is not final. Hmmm sounds a bit funny to me. Maybe Metro is now worried about this lawsuit?dfsavgny [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "Fred" [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Dan, hire Jimmy AAron and maybe you could win. It's costing Metro Homes alot of money in interest, I doubt very much they are scared of a lawsuit, they have millions of dollars already invested. I know they have a contact with the demo company for the 29th.The city should throw a big party with a parade and fireworks. What is there to be parading about?? The public was promised certain performence, that if the existing frame had to come down the site would be limited to the design controls of the Plan. No higher than 8 stories The public was lied to, The Council played a three-card-monte with the PLANs no one seems to care. The press is playing this up to be a great event, that the huge eyesore is going away. That point may hold water, however... Do they mention that the New building will be twice as big, topping out at 16 an 12 stories compared to the single 10 floor tower being demolished. Do they mention hat the City received nothing in return for the increased building size. Condo, Condos, everywhere as far as the eye can see... That is hardly the restoration or rebirth of Asbury Park. The City is being badly remodeled by leaders who have lost control, or never really had control of redevelopment. Even the recent praise for committing to restoration of the beachfront buildings is rediculous. It should have been well under way by years already. What a sad place this is where the vast majority have no clue as to the realities of this redevelopment and then praise any action taken however contrary to the public good and due process. How ingorant of you to assert that I or anyone else is 'anti- redvelopment How do you make that conclusion? What I have been asking for is to remove the residential density from the core area of the oceanfront (between 1st Ave, 5th Ave, Kingsley, Ocean). And relocate that density (#of units) to north of the BC Hotel. That would free up the core of the oceanfront for rezoning back to traditional tourism, entertainment, etc, uses. That would create the critical mass of similar uses needed to assure the success of ConHall, Pavs, Casino, etc. Kindly explain how advocating for better land use and City Planning is anti-redevelopment.
