That, Santanu is really a sad photo. Situations like these makes us all wonder where the GOA's and the GOI 's priorities lie. This drought in Assam was not a surprise to the GOA. It seems they were suddenly woken up when things have gone from bad to worse. From some of the news reports, it seems, something like 75 % of the irrigation pumps don't work and poor farmers depend entirely on the monsoon for their crops.
