Re: [Astlinux-users] Chan UNISTIM for Astlinux
Darrick, I agree that the kernel bump is probably much more important. I imagine there would probably be a bigger set of tweaks needed when upgrading to Asterisk 1.6 anyway (didn't they deprecate some things like macros, and you can't use '|' anymore?) By the way, I would love to help out... I am a developer/architect by profession (mostly web-based applications), and can figure out how to write a for loop in any language. ;) I have recently ventured into the Linux VOIP world, and have been learning a lot (and loving *almost* every minute of it). Of all the Asterisk distros, I definitely like the direction of AstLinux the most. (Askozia is nice too, but too restrictive). I really did't like the 'heavy' distros like TrixBox or even PBX in a Flash as they all seem to be too bloated. I have a vested interest in AstLinux at this point, as I have recommended and started setting it up at my place of employment. We are currently running a proof-of-concept server for MeetMe conferencing needs (used daily for communication with remote team members) as well as some really long IVR applications (30-40 minute calls) that will need to stay in constant communication with our application/database servers to track and record responses. So far (with a few minor additions) AstLinux seems to be working very nicely. So... where do you need help? -Steve Darrick Hartman wrote: > Steve, > > I would prefer to upgrade to Asterisk 1.6 after the kernel bump is > complete. That's going to be invasive enough as it is. Re: [Astlinux-users] Chan UNISTIM for Astlinux
Kristian, Ok... you got me curious, so I did a diff between the 2 versions. It looks like most (or all) the differences are due to a change that was committed to a file in Asterisk (indications.c - revision 122314 on Jun 12). Apparently some time-zone structures and method signatures changed. It looks like minor stuff, but probably was needed to compile. So I have an idea on how to handle this... Why couldn't we make the .mk file for this package aware of which version of Asterisk you were compiling against? That way, it could automatically change it's downloaded/built version based on which version of Asterisk was being used. Doing this it should be transparent and no one would have to remember to upgrade this package when Asterisk was upgraded. Or, is this still too fragile? -Steve Stephen Erisman wrote: > Kristian, > > More info here: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+UNISTIM+channels > > The version that I compiled is 1.0.0.5d which is good for Asterisk 1.4.4 > through 1.4.21. > I am unsure whether upgrading Asterisk to 1.4.22 requires the next > version of this module (1.0.0.5e), or the other way around (i.e. if you > wanted 1.0.0.5e you need at least Asterisk 1.4.22). > I personally don't have any need for this module (at this time), so I > didn't bother to check the differences between the 2 versions. > I can totally understand the nightmare of all the inter-dependencies. > Is there a place to document these dependencies to make it easier when > something needs to be upgraded? > > Apparently support for this is already built into Asterisk 1.6 though, > so maybe this is a non-issue. > Any idea if/when Asterisk 1.6 is on the radar for AstLinux? > > Thanks, > -Steve > > > Kristian Kielhofner wrote: > >> On 10/29/08, Stephen Erisman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> >> >>> Michael, >>> >>> Please try the attached chan_unistim.so module and let me know if it works >>> for you. >>> It looks like you will also need to add a unistim.conf file to the >>> /etc/asterisk directory as well. >>> >>> If everything works, I will package this up and send it to the devs for >>> possible inclusion in future releases. >>> >>> Thanks, >>> Steve >>> >>> >>> >> Steve/Michael, >> >> Thanks for helping us with this. >> >> Keep one thing in mind, though... Re: [Astlinux-users] Chan UNISTIM for Astlinux
Kristian, More info here: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+UNISTIM+channels The version that I compiled is 1.0.0.5d which is good for Asterisk 1.4.4 through 1.4.21. I am unsure whether upgrading Asterisk to 1.4.22 requires the next version of this module (1.0.0.5e), or the other way around (i.e. if you wanted 1.0.0.5e you need at least Asterisk 1.4.22). I personally don't have any need for this module (at this time), so I didn't bother to check the differences between the 2 versions. I can totally understand the nightmare of all the inter-dependencies. Is there a place to document these dependencies to make it easier when something needs to be upgraded? Apparently support for this is already built into Asterisk 1.6 though, so maybe this is a non-issue. Any idea if/when Asterisk 1.6 is on the radar for AstLinux? Michael, I can attempt to compile this for you when I get home tonight. I looked at both the source code and Makefile, and they look pretty similar to the app_notify package. Re: [Astlinux-users] Opinions for Growl implementation on Astlinux
Brian, I have been able to successfully create a new package for, compile, and install the app_notify module. I have also successfully tested the new Notify command using a custom dialplan. To get this work on my Windows client machine, I also installed the Snarl client along with the NotifyServer client. I am working on submitting the new package to the developers for inclusion in upcoming releases. Until then, hopefully the attached the app_notify.so module will also work for you. Assuming you have a unionfs system, all you have to do to get this module installed is: 1. Transfer the file to your AstLinux box (i.e. ftp or wget). 2. Copy the file to the /usr/lib/asterisk/modules directory. (It should also get copied to your /oldroot/mnt/asturw/usr/lib/asterisk/modules directory) 3. chmod +x /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/app_notify.so 4. Reboot Now you can run the 'show application Notify' asterisk command to verify it has installed correctly. If so, you can then add a Notify command to your dialplan. i.e.: exten => 1234,1,Notify(num|name|exten/server:port) Let me know how it works out.
