Discussion about sounds, and legal

Hi.I would like to bring up a discussion about sounds mainly used in games, and how to make sure the sounds you're using is legal.If all goes as planned, I'll need some sounds for a game, or rather a map pack in a few weeks or less.The game will be free, but I won't get into trouble by using sounds which are copyrighted. I might ask here on the forum for any sounds, where people might upload what they have, but how would I then make sure I don't brake any copyrights by using those sounds? I could choose to not care at all because the game is free and because others than the blind folk might never even hear about this game, but I do care about it. Not said that I have never cracked anything before. Lol.I see lots of sound requests here on the forum and people are very nice to share sounds and stuff, and many just don't seem to even think that they might brake any rules when using those sounds.So I'm asking the developers,
  you who just enjoy playing the games but also you who have lots of sound libraries: what's your opinions regarding to all this? Do you care or even think about where the sounds are comming from in your game, and when playing a game?Making a free game and asking for free sounds doesn't make the people you get the sounds for responcible if you'll get into trouble, in my opinion. But if you take money for a game, that's an other thing.It would be really nice to hear peoples opinions on all this.

Seriously, what's wrong with that? The person who leads a mission decide who is allowed to join and who aren't allowed on the mission.Yes, it is annoying to get kicked, but it was much worse earlier where you didn't got thrown back into the safe zone, but the connection just dropped.People told you that they don't want you in this mission, but not, that they'll never have you in a mission.So, what can people learn from that? ask before you join a mission, or you might be kicked if the mission is ment for some spicific people.The thing I hate is to get kicked in the mittle of a mission without getting the reason why.the only thing you'll loose as a HC player is food, but that's just how HC works. I don't like that, but that's just me...

Your 5 something gb instead of 8 is probably from phone software or just the kind of rounding thing that seems to happen with any kind of memory. There never is as much as they say there is, someone told me one of the reasons behind this but I forgot it.I have never used this speaker phone app, I did use one called "up sound down" that allows you to turn on the speaker by either moving the phone away from your face, placing it flat on a table or shaking it. Lockpick game for the blind is one game, the audio archery game also works. I did try the space traders game, and virtual knights or something like that. I forgot it's name, but the second game was almost fully accessible for single players, I don't know about when you join a guild though. All of the space traders game works except for the map, but unless you need to go in to some place in deep space, you should be good. I use to use an app called zedge for ringtones, but this was before you could just
  use your own music. Dropbox still has some things that are more accessible on android than ios it seems. If you haven't already, look on the eyesfree google group, or something like it, that's where most of my apps came from.

Hello,I would like to know how NVDA controls and creates its little beep sound for mouse movement and status reports?I would like to put something similar in one of my games to indicate HP, but don't want to have 100 .ogg files unless I really have to.I was looking at pygame's built-in midi support, but it looks as if midi is kind of complex to port to linux.Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do?So just in summery, I would like a tone to move up and down in pitch based on the percentage of the status bar I create. So if the bar is at 1% it will be really low pitched and if it is at 100% it will be really high pitched.

For me the copyright issue has always been the only problem. Of course Braillemon should take after the Game Boy games but it would be so cool to have an anime sounds option along with the other choices. But as Haramir mentioned this probably wouldn't be possible anyway because of said copyright issues.

I have uploaded (into the bt sync coppy of AAC on the games central folder) 2 joke stages, thanks to haily for the save file!the first, "1 hit wonder boss battle", is just a boss that dies in 1 hit, like sephroth from final fantasy VII.the second, "kill screen", is intentionally unwinnable. it contains a corrupt sector spanning the entire level.

So I can go down the list to see who is attacking?How about seeing who they hit? because mage may send a fire blast at mushroom 1 and get a 10, but when she sends it at branch, it hits a 30...The developers were saying something about creating a log, but I guess nothing has happened.

you can figure out what is you and your opponent during combat by the order of the health displays, that'll be the order actions take placealso the sounds will be a good indication as to who is attacking unfortunately there isn't really a way to get info on your opponents if they're quest monsters, only way to get info is to lose and hope the loss tip isn't one of those generic ones

Cracks of games that people have passed around to everyone and their mother?  This is why any BTSync folder I make has a specific purpose.  Not just a big crap load of things unless they're all organized into separate folders.  But since BTSync is an all or nothing kind of program it is still a great way to fill up peoples hard drives with folders like this.

I don't know how some one could play DMC3 with no sighted help, especially with some of the puzzles.  You'd have no idea where you're going.  Unless I'm wrong and some one wants to explain that to me.  MOst mainstream games we can not play.  I'm lucky in the fact that I have some vision so I can play most things, but I think that the PS3 is the last console I'm going to buy.  I'll probably go over to Steam now and start to digitize my library in case I ever lose my discs for PS2, GC and PS3.On an unrelated note, now that we have an accessible way to control the PSN from the web, has anyone made a topic where we can give out PSN ID's so you could get a multiplayer match going with some one on a game?

it's an elevator simmulator. you can go between 10 floors in 3 different elevators, you can turn the fan or the elevator music on and you can turn on arcade mode which can make the elevator lose control where you need to use the breaks, or, if you don't use the breaks, it can also crash, ending the game. all of the floors have a different ambience. you can also pick up passangers, but that only works on the normal elevator.

hi,there was a mini game, called mission something, one had to go through a train station, get a ticket and board the train etc.its been a long time, so i might be forgetting the details.there was this car simulater, made by a dev on blastbay forum, it had the options to get in a car, lock it, start the engines, seat belt, horn and even closing and opening up windows etc.the traffic sounds were what made the game sound a bit realistic, plus there was an alarm if the car isn't locked from outside or some such.while there is no such precise life simulater games as far i'm aware, of course besides alter ego and the one dark mentioned, though i'll have to still try that one, some other games like ts3, tdv, gtc or games like grizly gulch or chilingham offer good sound effects and realtime situation, although their genre is different.that reminds me of castaways, but its another management game where the job is to manage and feed a 
 population, and obtain resources while preparing to transport all the people back home through a ship, but that comes at the end.so, there isn't much, for even alter ego becomes boring if played more than once. i couldn't stand playing it for third time, specially if everything has to be same and there was almost no replay value, even if one experiments with the choices.regards,sid512

Well, my plan was to let anyone who had any abandonware just drop that in the folder without having to contact me want to make it easier on the users because in the other abandonware topic Shane was talking about a sharing thing with skype. This is what I've come up with. If it happens again or I get spammed with random stuff in the folder I might just have to restrict read/write access altogether.

Um, does it seriously contain movies? Um, someone is really screwing with my folder here. I did not put any films, minecraft installations, anything like that, that was all a hacker probably. Although someone did put Ray's abandonware archive in there, thanks much for that. I'll organize it accordingly so we don't have duplicate folders called abandonware games. As for who put all that unnecessary crap in the folder I don't know, but I've hopefully deleted all that. I just looked at it and deleted all that stuff hopefully it's gone for everyone else. And just to clear up confusion for anyone who saw Sammy Center, that game isn't abandonware so if you see that in the folder, just know that it's still around.edit: There is a folder in that called jokuri, and in there were some cracks. I think the app you are looking for is speaker phone ex. This app automatically turns on speaker phone when the phone is away from your face, enabling the use of the in-call screen with talkback. When the phone is near your ear, the phone will go back to normal so no one else hears the call. You should also enable power button ends call in the accessibility options.

hi,i can't help you much, but they work fine with jaws here. i like the indian one, specially the way it reads stuff. it sounds like a real human, with ocasional errors. when i showed the voice to people around me, they couldn't believe its a synthetic voice.anyways, british english ones are good too. emah and amy. but i don't find american ones that good compared to others.regardssid512

The Borg had more good episodes though. Cybermen are some of my favorite Who villains, but after the 70s they kinda just went downhill being used as generic mooks that lose their shit whenever you bust out some gold dust. Awesome in the 60s serials, though.Bleh, Modern has them now as robots shouting delete all the time, which misses the point. They're humans that have removed their humanity and emotions first, cybernetic enhancements are just for practicality. Now they're just cyborgs at best.

sp0256...the holy grail of all speech synthesisers. as crappy as it is, it was important milestone in the history of text to speech.also, stspeech.exe. that is a port of the tts program that came with the Atari st.monolog does work a bit under xp, you just have to use the clipboard. the DDE surver is of no use since DDE is not used anymore. for flextalk to work, you should install the sapi 4 runtimes manually. that is how I got it to work in the first place. and don't you dair try to install flextalk in windows 7, as it has been known to destroy other installed sapi 4 engines.

I assume that you by upload server mean a public accessible  service from which you can offer files fo download.There are a lot of these and these are often called file hosts or  cyberlockers.Sendspace is popular in the blind community but is not free, and the free version only retains a file for a limited time.If you have a Google or Outlook account, you can use the Drive function to share the file.
